Saw this in a store at an upscale western style shopping mall that also sold dried seahorse and various roots and herbs. Does anyone know what this is and what it used for?

It’s called “Winter worm, summer grass” according to my girlfriend they will turn into worms in the winter if you keep them. She says they are expensive and medicine. I believe half of that.
