http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rosspayton/ruins-of-lemuria-a-new-world-dandd-campaign-source

The New World is the grave of Lemuria, the greatest of all nations. The barbaric tribes that live in the New World now walk upon its bones, the ruins of temples and palaces, ignorant of the wisdom and power buried beneath their feet. When a colony from the kingdom of a distant continent settles on the shores of the New World, whispers of Lemuria flutter through the winds. Adventurers from the colony find the ruins and marvel at their beauty. Scholars listen to the legends told by tribal elders and connect them to ancient stories of a lost empire. Native warriors and mystics commune with spirits awoken by the colony’s arrival. The Ruins of Lemuria stir the blood of the ambitious and curious. Soon expeditions will be mounted to crack open the dusty tombs leading into the Stygian depths to learn their secrets and plunder their treasures. Little do these adventurers know that the doom that befall mighty Lemuria waits to greet them.

The Ruins of Lemuria describes a massive network of ruins that spread across the entire continent of the New World, the remnants of a powerful civilization more advanced in science and magic than any other in the history of the world. Fragments of their knowledge lie deep within the ruins, along with powerful magical items and vast amounts of treasure. Needless to say, if the knowledge or magic items are found and brought back to civilization, it could change the course of history. Lemurian magic and technology is still more advanced than anything else the world has ever known. A few adventurers armed with this power can end wars, curse diseases or doom their own civilization. This supplement provides a framework to incorporate the Ruins into most high fantasy RPG campaigns

I'll probably donate, I just need to remember that I'm doing more than just "buying" a reward.  I feel like I can't just mooch forever...

:P

EDIT:  Should we donate $25 would we have any potential influence over system or would you just pick?  I trust any game you run would be awesome to play in, I was just curious...

I pick! MOOHAHAHA

basically I'm going to treat it as a gencon game - shoot for 4 hours - try out whatever game I feel like - if you want to call the shots then go for the big reward

what did you want me to run?

I always thought your anger was a "tad" misdirected.  You should focus on the guy that killed you with the internets, rather than your teammates, who had so much confidence in your abilities they just thought you found a way to escape and then you just took off without them and are living under an assumed name somewhere.  Actually, I am beginning to think that may be what actually happened and you planted that rumor about your demise.

To be fair he betrayed you last kickstarter, but as he hasn't released it properly yet he packaged it as an extra in this one.

Unless that is the betrayal, in which case he's probably some form of monster. However it's an AP giving monster so it works out quite well.

At first I was going to say bullshit but I checked and your right:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footspeed

I had no idea anyone could run anywhere near that fast, I thought human maximum was well under 20 MPH. Ross's dude was probably better over distance, though, all the highest top speeds appear to be 100-meter dashes or similar short rushes.

Infact, now that I think about is wasn't 9 yard/sec the character's normal speed? Wouldn't his run speed ve even higher?

Yeah. It didn't seem like you broke the game. You did figure out almost immediately how to beat the Slender Man, though. I figured your revelation would be something like RJ figuring out that one woman was a cultist in the Candle Cove game. You did seem to get the representation thing way before anyone in the live game.

Fact. Every person who has donated at least 25 dollars can submit to this thread a fictional character they would like to see me play in a skype game whose focus is modern league of extraordinary gentlemen or some other coming together of fictional peoples.

The list will be complied, and voted on as if in a poll. My vote will count for a little extra(maybe like 3 votes!), but majority rules. I will then play that character to the best of my ability.

As an additional incentive, for any person who donates 75 dollars FROM THIS POINT FORWARD, I will run a skype game of your choosing.

Okey doke,

I've put down the amount for some gaming, schwag, choosing a character for RJ to play, and a PC death of my choice.

Vashek. A horrible horrible death for the Dragonborn Fighter please.  :)

As for RJ's character to play, I vote for Jake the dog from Adventure Time with Finn and Jake.

I noticed that a version of chrome I had had a massive memory leak. It would open multiple copies of itself in the systray. The strangest thing. I finally uninstalled it and stuck with Fire Fox.

It always opens multiple copies of itself it the systray.

Thats for each tab. It's what makes it so fast.

Some of the older versions of chrome had a minor memory leak problem, but thats fixed now, and it was never as bad as firefox's continuing problems in that area.

That's one of the main reasons I switched to Chrome; Each tab is its own process, so only the tabs will crash instead of the entire browser program.

My problem was that it continuously copied itself in the systray no matter how many tabs I had up. So if I wasn't careful, I would be running it with two tabs open and there would be 40 copies of it in the systray. It was a bizarre error. I may have had a corrupted version. I never did figure out what was causing it. I'm willing to try it again, but I haven't had the time or energy to reinstall it.

Tommy Wiseau Monster Friend

-Incomprehensible (Stunning attack): His bizzare ramblings that jump from topic to topic with no apparent connection leave victims utterly stupified and unable to form any coherent thoughts or take any actions.

-Tearing Me Apart! (Dodge):  Filled with the angst of a thousand past betrayals, Tommy can tear himself in twain to avoid taking a hit.

Dig to Victory!:  A devotee of the Mystic Spoon, Tommy can summon the Mystic Spoon to dig through earth, wood, stone or cheap sets.

Toss the Football:  A master of directing and tactics, Tommy can summon a swarm of tuxedo clad hack actors to pelt his enemies with footballs.....as long as they're withing 10 feet.

Oh Hi!:  Always outgoing, Tommy has the ability to charm his way into the hearts of those he talks to.

I'm serious, if you guys will do this I'll give more money.

If I donated a large sum, would somebody be willing to use the Skype game seat(s) for me? I have money but am socially non-functional.

Has this been spoken for?  I'd love to participate in a Skype game but I am a poor girl and could only afford to donate $10.  I do understand if it would be more appropriate for the extra seat to go to a more active member of the forums, but I just thought I'd ask.  ;)

Fine by me. Do your best and use a good microphone.

For right now, I will be prepared to run games every Monday and Tuesday night from 6 pm CST to 11 pm CST and Saturday from 4 pm CST to midnight - starting on Monday Jan. 10.

I will not actually run a game unless I hear from at least one backer that has paid for the game. So, please let me know when you would like to play. I will run games for 4 players normally although I can handle up to 6 players per game if necessary.

Just confirming a few things:
1) You will be running them over skype.
2) It will be CoC.
3) It might be posted on RPPR's APs.

Ross, why do you have to pick all of the nights when I have my own games to run? I can clear any of those days given a week notice ahead of time but I can't be ready to game on Monday or Tuesday until 7:30pm CST because I'm Pacific Time. So, Saturday works best for me.

I can't do next Monday, but may be able to do that Tuesday ( I am starting a new weeknight game and not sure if it is every Tuesday or not ).  I can do Monday the 17th.  I would prefer to get into a CoC game.  Ross doesn't like killing people in Monsters for some reason.

The Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the week of January 10th will work fine for me. Even the days following that week will work, as long as I have seven day's notice. No preference between Monsters and CoC.

Monday the 10th:

A call of Cthulhu scenario

6 players

You are all coworkers working for a corporation - let's call it Capital Oil. You are all white collar cubicle drones. You are all at a hotel for an industry convention. You all have rooms adjacent to each other. It is a long and exhausting convention. It is winter. An unexpected snowstorm is moving in.

First come first serve. Ransom contributors can reserve a spot. People that did not contribute but want to play can be alternates. I'll finalize the players 30 minutes before the game starts.

If you want to prepare, generate your own PC. I will prepare pregens for those that don't.

I am tentatively in (There's a small chance I end up running Unauthorized Content for my local group that night). I want to play another character that has to think about whether or not staring at something sanity-crushing is a good idea.
: Re: Ruins of Lemuria Kickstarter

I will tentatively say yes, but my job is offering overtime right now and I'm not in a financial situation where I can turn it down, so I'll know more by the end of this week.

Otherwise, definitely down for some Call of Cthulhu.   :)
: Re: Ruins of Lemuria Kickstarter
: SageNytell January 05, 2011, 10:13:09 PM
Soooo... They just issued a request for more overtime today, which means I am scheduled to be unavailable on Monday.
Then two hours later they cancelled all overtime for the remainder of this week, due to lack of available material to be processed.
So I truly will not know until next week on Monday what they are planning. As of right now, they appear to be leaning towards cancelling OT, so count me in. Bought a new mic and everything.  ;D

[8:23:33 PM] RJ alban: "Numerology
Numerology is given great credence by many of the characters, with the Law of Fives in particular being frequently mentioned. Hagbard Celine states the Law of Fives in Appendix Gimmel: "All phenomena are directly or indirectly related to the number five." Another character, Simon Moon, identifies what he calls the "23 synchronicity principle", which he credits William S. Burroughs as having discovered.[15] Both laws involve finding significance in the appearance of the number, and in its "presen[ce] esoterically because of its conspicuous exoteric absence."[16] One of the reasons Moon finds 23 significant is because "All the great anarchists died on the 23rd day of some month or other." He also identifies a "23/17 phenomenon." They are both tied to the Law of Fives, he explains, because 2 + 3 = 5, and 1 + 7 = 8 = 2³.[17] Robert Anton Wilson claimed in a 1988 interview that "23 is a part of the cosmic code. It's connected with so many synchronicities and weird coincidences that it must mean something, I just haven't figured out yet what it means!".[18]"

So I recorded my own audio with a mic and some headphones, including a nice 'sync' where I begin recording - should I toss that up to be merged on the community site?

Tossing up the Audacity project and data now.  :D

Edit: Scratch that, it'd be three days for all that data. Encoding to Mp3, I'll give a listen to where the actual game audio starts and upload my part. It's just my audio, you can't hear anyone else's.

Great playtests of the new MAOCT scenario I've cooked up. It's funny that I wrote an entire campaign but I can't use it because all the players have already played or read it.

I need to contact the remaining ransom contributors that haven't played yet and figure out when they want to play. I think I've got most of the forums regulars now (only Tadanori is left out of the regulars I think) but the remaining people don't post that often or at all.

I'm one of the guys that put in for the actual play that hasn't played yet, but I haven't jumped onto the other games because I had that bigass interview to prepare for.

I'm up for anything really. My availability is M-F 6pmMST-11pm MST, Weekends can be scheduled.
: Re: Ruins of Lemuria Kickstarter
: AmishNinja January 27, 2011, 12:03:07 PM
I'm another contributor who hasn't played yet - my schedule has sucked lately. I can do Sunday evenings usually, and then during the week: 6pm -> midnight each day, preferably not Thursday. Edit: CST

Game preference: CoC, Fear Itself, D&D (lololol just kidding), Dirty World (ever since the Caleb AP I've been very interested in this system/setting), haven't played MAOCT yet so I'd be up for that if others want to try it.

Received the swag in the mail today, and I am quite pleased. The RPPR button is going on my cube wall at work, so that more of my coworkers can stare in confused silence at the wall of shiny buttons. There will be pictures, eventually... it's just that with my workplace we're dealing with secure and confidential information, so they frown on cameras. I'll figure something out.

I'm also the proud owner of one authorized and official Ace McCloud, Ace Reporter (tm) character sheet, and I couldn't think of a better sheet to get.  ;D

Basically, thanks Ross & Co! I can't wait for the new primer to come out!
: Re: Ruins of Lemuria Kickstarter
: crash2455 January 29, 2011, 09:31:17 PM
In a similar vein, I am the proud owner of Christopher McBain, Larry Cassidy, and Martin Power.  My first thoughts on seeing McBain were obviously of The Haunting, but they were quickly followed by "Ross has really messy handwriting."

Also, in addition to my RPPR button and postcard, I got a business card for Zombies of the World and a copy of Motor Home from Hell.  I was wondering why I got this until I turned it over and saw "Directed by Ross Payton."  I was going to ask if anyone here knew about this, but apparently there's already a thread on this (http://slangdesign.com/forums/index.php?topic=72.0).

: Bobimus January 30, 2011, 07:44:19 AM
Another Contributor here, wish I would have signed on the forums earlier. Just got my package in the mail yesterday, and I have to say it was worth every penny. I got the movie, the WOZ card, RPPR postcard and button, and character sheets for Sheriff Conrad Altran, Army ranger Lawrence May, and a confusing memo about Battlefield Mall security. Can anyone place the latter piece? I haven't scheduled a game yet but am in no hurry because of my work schedule, 12 hour night shifts on rotating days. I currently only have every other weekend off, and usually spend those working in the forge. I just wanna say thanks for all the awesome episodes and laughing through the AP's helps get me through my shift. Since gaming is pretty dead in my area I listen to those to get my fix and see the kickstarter as a chance to give back for all Ive gotten.

I'd think that the Battlefield Mall Security note is from Call of Cthulhu Delta Green Night Shift. That was released "November 30, 2009". (checked this on the website).

Sigh...I'll never eat Cinnabon ever again.

I'd really like to play in this CoC game, I've played very little before, but have listened to a lot of audio games and love the Mythos.

Just got my swag as well. Tons of cool stuff! I'm not "in the know" so I don't know what to make of these dvds {Motor Home From Hell, The Assemblage of The Crystal Sphere}. Looking forward to watching them though. REALLY eager to read through 'King of RPGs' because that is right up my alley. {I'm big into Yu-Gi-Oh.}

The character sheet for the cleric from New World Gaiden is in here too! I tried to read through it but touching it caused my hand to turn black. I'm having trouble seeing to boot. Very strange.

Thanks a lot guys!

Ha ha! You got the Martin Power sheet from Night Mall. That guy was insane to create.

I got mine too and, Patrick, I think your wife is might be a cultist. She drew a bunch of sigils on the back of her sheet.

Usually I'm the one drawing yellow signs, what character sheet was that?
