Ahoy all!

I'm from the Creative Juices 7 Forum. I've been listening to a few podcasts here and there and love em!
You guys do great things for the community, including giving me something to listen to while editing.

Rock on guys.

About me, I'm a (former?) DnD player (3 + 3.5 ed), 21 years old. I used to play alot in high school, but its hard to find a group in buffalo. I used to be a heavy videogamer before the local lan center shut down and I lost my job (same event).

Lookin forward to meetin you guys.

My sympathies with the inability to find a group. Something I think most of us have to struggle with over our "currers".

Hey guys,

To re-introduce myself, my name is Jon, and I'm 41 years old. I used to play the Call of Cthulhu, DnD, Traveller, Gamma World, Marvel Superheroes, and tons of board games.

Now, I'm trying to restart my gaming via play-by-post games since a "live" gaming session just won't fit into my current lifestyle.  :(

My wife and I just had our first kid, (my son Cole just turned two months old), and to try and put a gaming session into my life right now would tork-off the old lady!!!   :)

I'm Aaron and I'm 30 and a Capricorn and a Norse Pagan. Two of those things are relevant and they're probably not the middle two.

I went through a couple of looooong dryspells with gaming. I was in a D&D3e and a Kult game in 2002, then I moved back to Albuquerque. In about 2004 got into a GURPS game with some... pretentious people and I didn't last long. The GM was a prick and many of the players weren't much better. I'd had to ask that the game be moved to Saturday nights because I'd just gotten a job that precluded gaming weeknights. Then I had a family emergency and couldn't make it one Saturday. I was told that I had to beg to be allowed back in to the game because they'd already gone so far out of their way to accommodate me. Sorry, I can apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm never going to beg to stay in ~any~ game. Then I went until 2008 before finding another local game, brought together by D&D Game Day last year. It became a regular game (which then died). I then I got incredibly lucky and got invited to a Star Wars game and I've enjoyed good luck with games since then, being in three different campaigns now.

I'm going to repay the good karma by DMing this weekend for 2009 D&D Game Day, for a 15-16 hour shift playing games on Saturday. It's going to be awesome and deathly.

Howdy

My names Kyle, 19,  live in California and am currently attending a community college.  I'm an amateur GM for a group of close friends and we have all at some point GM'd with each other for fun.  I'm trying to get better and learn what I can so I can be a better and more practical GM and make it a fun and exciting experience for my group.

Sadly my first real experience into role playing came from Rifts, which was/is a complicated system for us.  Before we realized this my friend had bought about 15 of the books and then it hit us that this system sucked.  Another friend of mine who we has recently taken interest in RP has decided he will GM a campaign from his favorite book series Wheel of Time.  As long as he enjoys it ill keep playing cause i know that we all need experience as both players, and sometimes GM when someone can't.

Ive just ordered the 3 main books for D&D 4th Ed. and i cant wait to get them.  Ive seen other groups play with D&D and its a system I can understand.  So ya, that's all I really have to say about me.  I'm always open to tips and advice about GMing

I'm Jon (Jp) Nilson, i am 18 years old, am in the tail end of High School, and  live in a small town in Utah (someonesavemeplease.....wait what?)
I started RPing when i lived in the central valley of California (lived near Vicalia <zomygodbadspeller>) when i was about thirteen or fourteen. It all began with 3.5 and moved on from there to Vampire until my family moved to start a business (cheesemakerslolwhat). First ran a couple D&D games about a year after i moved here, all of which died pretty fast due to people losing interest, until about six months ago when some friends decided that they wanted me to run something for them. Since then we have gamed once or twice a week  pretty consistently, I even convinced one of my players to try his had at running a game. I run a 4ED game, a couple nWoD games, and started a CoC game based on the book Monster Hunters International last week. I basicly learned to gm by listening to Actual Plays and listening to RPPR, as well as trial an error of course :)

In all honesty, yes I am surprised. I mean, Eternia has some pretty crazy stuff and, like you said, alot of it is explained and dealt with. I wasn't a major He-Man fan but I watched the show. Really liked the Masters, they had some cool stuff.

To prove that I am indeed Cody, allow me (as a gesutre of goodwill) post the top 10 best porn titles from 2003-2004. I will note that these are stolen from Something Awful.

10. Young Girls in Dark Territory
9. ASM: The Art of Ass to Mouth
8. Dude Where's My Cunt? #4
7. Old and Hungry for Love
6. Let's Play Lick the Can
5. She Male Sex Pistols at the Hard Rock Café 2
4. Up and Cummers 107
3. Gang Bang Jizz Jammers (originally 1995, being released on DVD at last!)
2. Hey, Grandma is a Whore #8
1. Shit Hole Pounders

And of course, may I would also like to plug (no pun intended) my favorite porn title that I will never EVER watch.

Proof enough?

Hey, I managed to retain my current Morality score.

It also occurs to me I never introduced myself.

My name's Peter, I'm 24, a Deist, live in Washington State, and I've been gaming since 2000. D&D is my big game currently, my favorite rules system is New World of Darkness, and I've played (at various time) Mutants and Masterminds, Star Wars Saga Edition, Dark Heresy, Old World of Darkness, and Call of Cthulhu.

I'm the one in a group of gamers who's totally outside all of the drama between players and doesn't get why people can't just play the game and have fun. I've had one gaming group turn into two groups because of drama and then watched those two mutant into forms unresembling of their original state.

I hate gamer drama.

Name's Vince.
I'm from Detroit and I've been a gamer since . . . well . . . umm. . .

Well, the first rpg book I evr had was the AD&D 2e Monster Manual.  I got it for Christmas sometime in the mid to late '80's.  I didn't even know how it was really supposed to be used.  But it really helped me with ideas and inspiration for my drawing.  The first adventure I got was Baltron's Beacon for 2e AD&D.

Today, I love gaming but it's hard for me to join a group.  I don't have a car anymore and all of my friends have moved out of Detroit. My favorite system to run is Call of Cthulhu (Chaosium - I just wish they'd stop coming out with new editions so often).

I guess I draw a lot of inspiration from zombie and ghost flicks.  A guy on the Red Spire Press Forums once told me: "horror is 95% threat and 5% conflict".

I hope to enjoy my tme here.  Great to meet everyone.
: Re: Intoduction
: clockworkjoe March 26, 2009, 10:52:49 PM
Good thing about Call of Cthulhu is that the rules haven't changed much - the newer editions are just reprints with a few bits or art.
: Re: Intoduction
: vcdaniels March 26, 2009, 11:05:49 PM
:D  That's good to know.  For a while I thought CoC was like a computer: 6 months after you buy it, it's obsolete.  I was about to say screw it.  I'm just gonna have to settle for the Windows 98 of Cthulhu rules.  And anyone who had a problem could just buy me another computer . . .

. . . wait . . . that's not right . . . yeah, it is . . . no it's not.
: Re: Intoduction

I still use the same copy of the CoC rulebook that I bought in junior high - used for $11.
: Re: Intoduction
: Phelanar March 27, 2009, 04:02:09 AM
I almost wish they did a version of CoC without much art and certainly none of the creatures. The few times I've tried to run the game with new players, they see the art and forever have a hard time feeling scared of things that look so....cheesy. My CoC copy is 5.6, which I got back in 2001. Bought brand new in hardback for $18 from my job at Hastings in Springfield, may it rest in piece. I really wish I could find a group that'd be open to playing it. None of my current groups has the right mindset for CoC. Cthulhutech, perhaps, but not CoC.

The CoC monsters are great for horror games when you emphasize the WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING OH SHIT OH SHIT factor. Describe them in vague menacing terms and never ever tell the players the monster's names so they can't look its stats. A star vampire looks goofy in the book, but it's a different story when an invisible blood sucking flying monster that leaves its victims as sucker marked corpses is chasing the players through the woods. at night.

Oh yeah, I totally get that. I never outright told my players what they were dealing with, but they generally figured it out eventually and then were in "hur-hur, why are we scared of something that looks like a 70s monster movie reject?" mode again. I think I've just run into players who aren't really suited for CoC. It takes people who are willing to be scared or creeped out to make the best of CoC and if players are adamant that they aren't going to, it's infinitely more difficult to get that mood.

For CoC? Yes. The rules are dead simple anyway and haven't changed much in the last 10 years or so. If you go waayy back to version 3 or something then there are some changes but the only books that uses those rules were printed back in the 80s.
: Re: Intoduction
: Tadanori Oyama March 27, 2009, 01:06:20 PM
So I just need to find a book with a copyright from 1990 or sooner and I'm in the right zone? Well, that makes things alot easier. I'd been holding off on the system because of that.

Heck, maybe I'll be able to run a straight up CoC game at PAX if I can just use an older book.

They aren't the same as they where. Like most things in 4E, Druids have had their class function fined down. They act as controllers, using abilities at range (or in bursts) to inflict injury and penalities on groups of enemies.

And shapeshifting. They can do that alot.

I'm Will. My parents bought me HeroQuest as a kid and I've been a gamer ever since. I've been around the block with so many systems that it's pointless to list them all, but if I had to pick the top of the heap I'd say D&D, nWoD and Shadowrun were my favorites. I'm currently playing in games of Shadowrun 2nd Ed, D&D 3.5 and Swashbuckling Adventures d20. I'm also running Hunter: The Vigil and a post-apocalyptic game using the Morrow Project setting and Unisystem rules.

Hello RPPR folks,

Like the listener above me I am also a Sean. I've been gaming since around 1996. It started with fantasy-based MUDs, and since at the time I was 13 and didn't know anything about roleplaying I basically tried to PK everyone I could (didn't always go well). Eventually I figured out that you're supposed to actually play a character. I was terrible at it for at least 2 years and probably embarrassed myself multiple times. Around high school is when I actually started playing tabletop, and that was D&D 2nd Edition. From there things only got better; In addition to 2nd Ed D&D I've played 3rd, 4th, Call of Cthulhu, Dark Matter, D20 Modern, and a new personal favorite, Dread: Tales of Terror (http://tiltingatwindmills.net/dread/index.html for info, it's so great).

I'm 26, live in the Madison WI area, and hopefully will meet some of you guys at Gen*Con this year. I've actually been a listener since early last year, and did attend last year's Gen*Con as well but it completely slipped my mind to look anyone up.

My name is Andy, I am 32 and live outside Rochester, western NY.  I have three daughters that I talk about incessantly; I basically ported the oldest one directly into the Miasma game on the old boards.  (Aside - Ross, I feel awfully guilty about never statting a character.)  I love games in general, be they RPG, board games, or video games.
RPGs I have played:  D&D 2E, 3E, 3.5E; Paranoia; Amber; Whispering Vault; MechWarrior; Shadowrun; HōL
RPGs I would like to play: Call of Cthulhu; D&D 4E; Dogs in the Vineyard; Monsters and Other Childish Things; Dark Heresy (even though I looked at the rulebook and it kind of scares me - I think it can deflect small-arms fire)

Also I just finished reading the first three books of The Black Company, and I think a game in that setting could be super fun.
Oh and I listened to the Bearswarm Inspectres game, and holy crap it is hilarious.  "The Umbrella Corporation...I think they run a nursing home."

Hi.  I'm JF.  And on occasions, I'm Awesome.  I have an Awesome job.  I live in Montreal, Canada and work in the interactive entertainment media industry (vidio games).

I've started roleplaying in the early 80s, my first game being a french translation of the Dark Eye.  Graduated to Advanced Dungeons and Dragon, where I've learned English as a second language.

Right now, I'm running an episodic game of nWoD Mortals/Hunter with a cast of 5 players who played for a few years, but are all new to nWoD, so they know nothing about the backstory and monsters of that system.  They've faced their first ghoul last episode, and tonight it's master will start looking for it.

Ross, I need at least one episode of the New World Campaign to listen to at work while reviewing my minion's shit, or else I'm going to kill one of them in a fashion only that Cody character would be able to imagine.  Maybe that Tom character also could.  Whatever.  Please... ;D

Anyway, welcome to the forums, Jean-Francois (I assume. ;))

My name is Josh. I'm 30 and have been gaming for about 16 years now. I'm originally from Upstate NY, near Syracuse, but I now reside in Eastern Indiana. I have played more games than I care to think about. My favorite rpg  is Call of Cthulhu and the Chaosium Basic Role Playing System, both are very simple and easy to learn (and if you know one, then essentially you know the other). They are also very easy to adapt to different genres and time periods.

I have been listening to RPPR for a few months now, and I've really been enjoying it, keep up the good work guys!

My name is Andy, I am 32 and live outside Rochester, western NY.

Andy, I don't know if you are currently looking for a game to join or not, but you may want to check out the gaming club at SUNY Geneseo. I used to be a member, and for a year president, of the club when I was a student at Geneseo. Their web address is http://gagg.geneseo.edu (http://gagg.geneseo.edu) and I still pop up on the forums there on occasion. I believe they have already had their convention for the year, which always falls fairly early in the spring semester, but they often have "mini-cons" throughout the year where folks will get together, usually on a weekend day, and play lots of different games.

Hi, I'm Evan.

I've been gaming for 7 years now and I love Werewolf: the Forsaken (http://wiki.white-wolf.com/worldofdarkness/index.php?title=Werewolf:_The_Forsaken). Even though I have never ran a campaign of it (long story).

I've played in other games to be sure: DnD 3.5(like it), S.L.A. Industries(fond of it, BUT...), Vampire: the Requiem(it's a good game), MnM(up in the air) and Hero's Unlimited(Hate it with a side order of Despise and a tall glass of Loathing).

I love the show, Tom and Ross. Please keep up the great work.

Guess I should have looked for this thread when I arrived -- how rude of me.

Hi!  I'm a 31 year old gamer from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and one of only six people in the whole city that does not work for Research In Motion (the BlackBerry makers).  I'm considering a career of superherodom, as one of the top guys behind Research In Motion is named Dr. Lazaritus, which is so clearly a super-villain name.  It's good to go into a job with pre-defined goals.

I've played a ton of different systems, with favourites being D&D 3.5 (now a Paizo Pathfinder fan), Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu, Paranoia XP, and Cyberpunk 2020.  I've recently picked up some NWoD, after being assured by friends that White Wolf no longer requires you to dye your hair black and shop at Hot Topic (I kid!, I kid!).

Anyway, I'm still working on catching up with the RPRR podcasts - I'm on the New World Actual Play #4, but hopefully I'll be able to join in on some of the more current conversations once I finish my homework, and get up to date.  :)

I seriously doubt RPPR is a front for anything canadian, Ross makes enough derogatory jokes at the expense of Canada at it is (no, not on the podcast).

I also doubt our government is much into conspiracy.

Hi!

Just started my very first ever RP campaign a couple months ago (DnD 4e - my character is a poncy stage magician).  Almost everybody else in the group has gamed for years, and I hate not knowing what people are talking about, so I devoured all the DnD info I could find online.  Many of the RP/DnD podcasts are unlistenable (heavy breathing into the mic, loud chewing/mouth noises, or just deathly boring) but the RPPR ones are great, so thanks guys!

Oh, and I'll say this here because I don't know where else to put it:

OMG Ross! We totally have the same Army bag!  Twinsies!!

Welcome to the boards. Always nice to see new people getting involved.

Our main goals here are to confound Ross at every turn, to mock Ross's hard work as often as possible, and to say things so strange and off the wall that Tom is forced to respond to them in a post.

As side matters we inflat Cody's ego and post weird internet stuff.

Baw, I should probably do this as well.

My name's Sean (one of the many here), I'm 19, and am going to be working at Walt Disney World in Florida (paid internship).

As for my gamer cred, I played DnD in high school, but stopped gaming for a while after graduating.  I found another group during my first year of college (played some DnD, Dust Devils, and the occasional pickup game of InSpectres), but our schedules don't line up anymore and my girlfriend and I are leaving for Florida in a week.  Oh boy.

Hopefully I can find something while I'm down there.

Introductions?  Sounds good.

My name is Josh,  i'm a singer from Australia and in a rock band;  heres our myspace http://www.myspace.com/sirkusrocks (plug plug plug plug lol).  I stumbled upon the PodCast of RPPR about a week ago,  maybe a little more;  and since have fallen in love with it.  It has also made me fall in love with RPG's again, to the extent where i'm working on starting a new game with my old group.

As for my gaming 'cred', I have played Dnd for about 4-5 years, never really ventured away from that though,  purely for the reason that my group really wasn't interested.  I started with DM-ing, because i was the protagonist in getting my friends to game with me,  after they fell in love with it i found myself falling into the position of playing a number of different and interesting characters, mainly for the reason to make my group laugh.

In closing, I love the PodCast guys,  keep it up.
: Re: Introduction
: Maze June 10, 2009, 01:52:43 PM
Hey Josh, welcome aboard.

If you only stumbled on the podcast RPPR a week ago, I suggest you go back and listen to them in order, this podcast unlike many others ages well. You can always work your way through the Actual Plays afterward, again, one of the rare podcast that has actually good and enjoyable actual plays.

I've got a feeling a lot of us in the RPPR community are if not actual GM, GM material... maybe for the simple reason that we seek out RPG podcasts to inspire, entertain and help us.

(I like the song posted on your myspace by the way)

Hey all,

My name is Chris, 26yrs old (going on 12). I live in Plymouth, UK and to get money I work as a Microbiology Technician at the local Hospital. I discovered RPPR through Itunes whilst looking for random Gaming podcasts. After listening to Gamer the podcasting (RIP) and Dragons landing I stumbled over RPPR and it blew the others out of the water, rekindled my love of DMing, kept my brain buzzing with ideas and has given me a nagging insatiable hunger for gaming.

Been DMing for approx. 14 years starting with Warhammer fantasy roleplay (WHFRP) and on to Deadlands, Shadowrun, Dnd (3,3.5 and 4) and SLA Industries. Very much like Josh, I too ended up being the protagonist to my slightly apathetic Gamer group (If I didn't start something i.e. organize the where and when, nothing happened) which will probably be the next topic I post.

Thanks for making my work life much more bearable for approx. 70mins at a time.

Edit- Forgot Call of Cthulhu (D20 + Chaosium) plus Lorien Trust Larp and Heroes for Hire Larp
: Re: Introduction
: JonHook June 10, 2009, 04:51:19 PM
Josh and Chris... would either of you guys like to join my game I'm running at www.rpol.net?

It is a WWII game where you are a Special Forces Ranger with psychic powers. The rules are Chaosium's Basic RolePlaying rules, (the core rule set they use in Call of Cthulhu). I need one or two more players. I think you'll have a good time.

It's obviously a play-by-post game, and you would only need to check the game every other day or so. More often would be great, but that's up to you.

If you go to the RPOL site, do a search for "Operation: Mind Storm".
: Re: Introduction

Hello, folks! My name's Ryan, and I'm a twenty-five year-old roleplaying gamer from Long Island. I've lived in New York my entire life, aside from a four-year sojourn in Baltimore during college, but I'm looking forward to seeing and possibly living in other parts of the country (maybe the Midwest or California). I like to read (pretty much whatever I can get my hands on), write, make films (when I can afford to) and videos (when I can't), cook, take photographs, and--of course!--roleplay. I came across RPPR listed in iTunes and it hooked me almost instantly because Ross and Tom are a lot like all of my friends from high school. (I apologize for saying that, by the way--I'm not entirely sure it's a compliment. Eighty-five percent, though!)

I have over a decade of experience with tabletop roleplaying; I've been playing in games since I was fourteen and running them since two years after that. Most of what I've been exposed to has been White Wolf WoD games, but I've also played in an Aberrant chronicle, a few odd Paranoia games, and a few other one-shots here and there. I run Mage: The Ascension mostly--2nd ed. rules with some Revised thrown in wherever I like it better--but I also dabbled in Wraith when I was a young GM. I've been running a pulpy Mage campaign for the past two years called "City of the Damned" that I consider to be a WoD cross between an old, short-lived TV show on Fox called Brimstone and The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo. (Both shows had similar plots--the heroes have to capture a series of nasty spirits that escaped from their eternal imprisonment--but one had John Glover playing the devil and the other had a plucky orphan in a yellow jumper called Flim-Flam.) When that's over, which should hopefully be in a month or two, I want to try to run something different. I'm still trying to decide on what, though.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself here. I look forward to jumping in on some of the threads I perused before I signed up. See you on the boards!

I'm Neko, and I found RPPR because I was wanting to RP but couldn't find a group. I love the podcast, espeacially the New World actual plays. I laugh so hard I my coworkers probably think I'm insane, well I am, but that's not the point. Right now my roommate's roleplayer friend has returned to us from canada, so we embarked on the New World ourselves, although I was dead sick of fantasy at the time so I twisted the situation to make people want to play a scifi game. I so far am the Cody of our group, and my character is sufficently hated by the female members of our group (one of which is my girlfriend.) ;D I'll try to get my roommate (GM) to post his stuff on the campaign.

Is this thread still relevant?  If not, I guess y'all can internet stone me, banish me or whatever else it is you particularly fancy here.  Just signed up because I've been meaning to for a while (have been listening to the podcast since March-ish last year), and finally got on with it after finishing two rather interesting sessions of Call of C'thulhu which I felt I had to retell the story of...

So hello all, I'm me and that's about it, don't do too much in the way of introductions since you probably don't care and if I stick around, you'll learn enough about me eventually (I do have a tendency to be dry and sarcastic though).

Cool. Looking forward to hearing about the CoC adventures.

Greetings fellow nerds.  I'm Josh, I live in Austin TX.  I've been gaming since my grandfather introduced me to AD&D when I was thirteen, back in the year of our lord, 1996.  I have really only played D&D, with very brief side tracks into shadowrun, cyberpunk, and battletech.  Only recently have I taken up the mantle of DM, and I have found both the podcasts and the actual plays here at RPPR to be excellent for fostering ideas.  Not to mention extremely amusing.  They've also sparked a real desire for more variety of games, whetting my appetite for wonders such a Monsters and other Childish Things, and Call of Cthulu.  So to Ross, Tom and the rest of the RPPR crew... a Salute.

I also like kender...*cringe*

Thanks! What are you running right now?

We have an ongoing 4e Eberron campaign that we rotate DM responsabilities.  I'm in the middle of reading Trail of Cthulu, and a buddy just hooked me up with a compendium of all the Dragonlance modules in 2nd edition.  Idly contemplating converting those to 4e, or just stepping into the wayback machine and running them AD&D style.  Also have a buddy gearing up for a nWoD one-shot, which I'm VERY excited for, and another buddy wanting to kick the tires on Warhammer Fantasy.  I'm just absolutly dying to play in a CoC scenario, I just have to convince someone to run it.  Also taught my wife, mom, and little sister the wonders of 4e, and now my wife has started DMing a little family game on Sundays.  Adorable!

Hi Everyone,
I am Richard from Atlanta, GA.  I started playing games with AD&D many years ago in high school in a small town in Alabama.  Not the easiest place to find gamers.  We played pretty regularly for several years until graduation.  I gamed in college, but nothing regular.  We played a lot of cards ( bridge mainly ), Illuminati, Talisman, etc in addition to pickup games of DnD.

I stopped playing for many years until a WotC store opened up about the time 3.0 came out.  I ran a game for some people at work for a couple of years until the internal party strife drove everyone apart.

About a year ago I picked up 4.0 and met some people in town through meetup.com and started playing some.  I am now running a 4.0 campaign, but not playing in one right now.  I don't understand all the controversy, the system seems to work pretty well.  I guess it is just the normal "change is bad" thinking.

At Dragoncon this year, I played in a lot of great games.  They were mainly with the Arc Dream people.  One game with Ross ( Sucrose Park ) and two with Ben Baugh ( Candlewick and Kerberos club ).  I didn't really know anything about the ORE system before playing in it, but everyone was great about explaining how it worked.  I actually heard about Monsters on a podcast driving home from work the day before the con, so I was happy to see the games being ran there.  I also played in a great AD&D game that was a "historically based" version of a rescue of Richard the Lionhearted, complete with pictures and layouts of the actual castle he was held in.  I think that playing with all these great GMs help convince me that it is not so much the system as it is the people you are playing with that makes a great game.

A couple of us are trying to get a rotating game group going.  Kind of a GM's choice game.  Someway to play all the games that are gathering dust on the bookshelves.  The ones I really want to run/play are Monsters, Kerberos, Delta Green, CoC and Dread.  So hopefully we will be able to get that going.  I am amazed at the number and quality of the RPGs out there.

I have just started recording our games and it is turning out pretty well.

Enjoying the podcasts and forums!

Hello everybody.  I'm relatively new to the hobby of RPing, and have only been playing for about a year.  My first game, oddly enough, was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness, though I have since moved on to the greener pastures of D&D and Monsters and Other Childish Things.

I'm currently running a 4E campaign, with a few Monsters one-shots thrown into the mix every now and then. The RPPR Podcast has been a huge boon to my DMing. Also, it introduced me to Monsters, which has swiftly become my favorite system.

So yeah, that.

: Diametes March 11, 2010, 11:41:31 PM
Hello to all. I registered back in October, but figured that March was a good time to post.

I've been listening to RPPR since the Tides of Doom adventure and instantly fell in love with the podcast. The mental imagery of the first monster still sends jawesomeness through my very core. I started my RPG career in high school with a homebrew game based on Final Fantasy Tactics, and from what I recall it was fairly good. From there I jumped into a Deadlands game with that same group and later a 3.5E campaign.

My current group is running a 3.5E campaign (Tried to get my friend to run 4th, but he believes it to be Satan incarnate) that's been going since last October. With the exception of our GM and myself, the other people are relatively new to RPGs. I'd feel horrible in saying that the GM and I popped their "RPG cherry" with RIFTs. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I absolutely regret that decision. Between our RIFTs game and current campaign, I attempted to run Dark Heresy with the group. The general weakness of the characters and the fact that they could not run around blowing everything up was mind-boggling to them. They're more of the "Fight me or give me a quest!" variety. Now that the 3.5E campaign has mellowed them out, I'm going to attempt to get a Rogue Trader game started in a few weeks.

Hello the forum.

Bill here.
That Bill, yes.

Been ghosting since the new forums went up, got tired of making Dan be my occasional forum puppet.
Decided I needed to make myself known before a whole year got by me.

Things worth knowing:
Been gaming since sophomore year of college, so 2004. Dan brought me into the fold with Star Wars d20, back when many of us lived in Scholars Hall @ MSU.
Neti are a fun race :) Declarative sentences are declarative.

Met Ross (and Patrick) via Matt Howell (Orphan Bane, Matt-in-the-Hat Irl) junior year via a late winter break one-shot (Twilight 2000, IIRC). Collided a few times since, then left town for a couple of years. Came back, moved in w/ Dan (hurray low rent), played some 4e, got yelled at by Mike, ran my own game (this sentence is not chronological), let that game die in a pile of 'meh.' because I was tired of being unemployed, got a job that mostly keeps me out of gaming.
Hoping to correct that last bit soon.

True story: I can't listen to any actual play I'm in for more than about ten minutes before I get the Jibblies. It's not the whole voice-minus-skull-resonance thing, that I can handle, but I just can't be entertained by them. Things that are funny at the time, or are great from other people, just turn dumb when I know it's me.

Other true story: I haven't ever been an active, frequently-posting member of a forum before, but I'm trying to get comfortable writing by just doing more of it, so maybe you'll be seeing more of me around these here parts.

Well, Ross's DRYH books are setting across the room from me right now, and have been for a month, or maybe two.
It's just plain hard to organize much of anything with daywalkers these days - I work overnights, and 4x10s at that.
I do rather enjoy the game, though, and it's high on my list for when the RPG inertia pendulum swings my way again.
That and Dogs in the Vineyard, should my books ever arrive - need to email the author about that.

: Re: Introduction
: Ulf April 16, 2010, 12:40:17 PM
Hi all

My names' Ulf, and no, that's not a nickname or character name, before anyone asks... :)   I'm 34, been gaming since the 80's sometime, and I just found this podcast. I'm getting caught up on all the back epsiodes right now, and I have to say I think it's one of the better gaming podcasts out there.

I'm originally from Germany, now living in northern California after spending quite a few years in New Jersey.  I used to manage a pretty successful game store in Jersey, but have since moved into a career as a professional artist and small business owner.

I love the more off-beat RPGs, but like many people out there I've had trouble getting players to invest in non-D&D games and commit to them. My favorites are probably Kult, The Whispering Vault, Changeling (oWOD 2nd ed), D20 Modern and Mage the Ascension (oWOD 2nd ed). I'm also a big fan of wargames. Particularly Warmachine, Hordes, WH40K, Warzone, and Confrontation.

Tom, I have to tell you, when you read your letters on the episodes it's all I can do to stop from shouting "Amen! Tell it like it is!!".  I've been known to have some strong opinions about RPGs, wargames, and the people who play them, and I've gotten flak for it in the past. So to hear someone else rant on about the same dumb bullshit that drives me crazy.... well, it warms the heart. So thank you! The one about GMs doing bad voices while thinking that they're Oscar-worthy actors, was so dead-on that for the briefest of moments I was sure you must have been spying on this awful 7th Sea game I was involved in..... priceless!

Heya everyone!

I'm Josh Hunter, I've done a few images for RPPR's PDFs in the past and I'm working on stuff for the Codex of War, so hopefully you've seen some of my stuff! Currently I work a crappy part-time retail job while I look for real job prospects in the graphic design field, but I've also completed some illustrations for AEG for a new CCG they have coming out in June or so called Phase (http://www.phaseccg.com/), and I'm currently working on artwork for the expansion(!).

As far as gaming goes, I've been playing games since I was a kid. The Atari 2600 was a staple in our household. As time marched on we bought a used NES and I played Kung Fu more than Super Mario Bros. I remember our first PC and how Apogee used to make some really kickass pinball games. Tabletop-gaming-wise I think D&D 2nd edition was the first I had played, and being a 1st-level Wizard sucked huge donkey balls. I remember using my ONE spell for the day and being forced to improvise in order to kill orcs who on a lucky hit could one-shot me. The most memorable improvisation I can remember was my character throwing an ink pot into the eyes of an orc to blind him, then grabbing a torch off of the wall and setting him on fire. Other than my roots, I've been all over the damn place. Warhammer Fantasy when it used to be lighthearted, 40k, Warmachine, video games of all kinds, and in more recent days struck out into unfamiliar territory to try different RPG systems besides D&D, which led to my first GMing experience with a Mutants and Masterminds campaign.

I've been playing a lot of Dungeon Fighter Online (http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/Default.aspx) recently if anyone's heard of that or currently plays it, and I'm probably going to set up a guild today in between working on Cortez's ominous portrait.

Hello.  I'm Steve.  33 years old here, just outside of Chicago in Northwest Indiana.

For the most part, the biggest problem I've had plaguing my gaming existence is the whole "friends spread to the four winds" deal.  I've played a goodly amount of 3rd Ed. D&D, some RISUS, and a whole lot of Feng Shui.

I run some games now, too.  Including one I've hamfistedly cobbled together involving a (slight) exaggeration of the common debauchery and weirdness at your standard Fandom convention.  I had a slight bit of a rep around the more Anime-centric conventions around 7 years back, having a Black Mage costume from Final Fantasy that reeked of vodka and nicotine.

The podcast has simultaneously lessened the pangs of gaming withdrawl and inspired the urge, as well as helped introduce me to Wushu Open, which seems absolutely fantastic.

Hi, guys. I'm 36 and started gaming in 5th grade with the old TSR Marvel Super Heroes game. I live near New Orleans and am unemployable back in college trying to finish my degree.

To paraphrase Clint Eastwood in "Unforgiven", I've played Toon and Torg. I've played or run just about everything that rolled dice or consulted a table at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you Little Bill, for...well, it sort of breaks down as a paraphrase after that. Anyways, the point is that I've played a lot of roleplaying games, good, bad, and indifferent. I made a point of not playing D&D, Call or Cthluhu or Vampire for a while because it made me feel special, but I got eventually got over it.

While I still get together with (old) college friends for a D&D 4E campaign about once every month or two and hang out on RPG.net, listening to RPPR has gone a long way toward helping me get my fix of vulgarity, smarm, and hammy make believe.

there are indie elitists for everything - in RPGs they tend to be from the forge, a notorious indie rpg community - good things came out of them like Dogs in the Vineyard but they fukken hate so-called 'mainstream' RPGs.

: Re: Introduction

With me, it was a result of a conflicted self-image, an artsy fartsy disdain for "rollplaying" (hur!), and a suspicion of anything that was Popular. Popular, after all, must equate to Crap, right?

I've since come to some terms with my deep, fundamental nerdality, realized that those games can produce GREAT storytelling, and the also appreciated the fact that popular/mainstream things aren't necessarily complete shit 100% of the time.

Also, 4th Edition D&D is just a hell of a lot of fun.

Hey, I guess I should have posted here first.

I'm Matt.  I'm from the Chicagoland area in Illinois.  Just graduated from college and looking for work (not unlike Mr. T).
I got into gaming with D&D 3.5 when I was 18 (4 years ago).  I recall my first character ever was a monk which my GM suggested should take Vow of Poverty (probably because he had just gotten the BoED).  I don't think he used that book again after my monk was killed.

I ran a pretty vanilla D&D 3.5 game at the end of my freshman year of college for friends at school.  It was there that I learned that any fight that should be "easy" for your players will inevitably kill at least one of them.

Most of my friends are Mormons, and so after they left to go on 2-year missions to spread the word, my old gaming group (and friend group) dissolved.  I joined a Shadowrun 4th Ed game at school my sophomore year.  That group ended up moving out, so I took the next 2 years off gaming.

This summer, all of my friends came back home and my old GM decided to run another 3.5 campaign.  I found RPPR, and am now running a M&M 2nd Ed game, and will soon start running a MAOCT Road Trip game.
tl;dr version:  I'm a gaming newb.  I used to play 3.5, but friends left so I stopped.  RPPR got me running two games in systems I had never heard of before now.  Also, I joined the SA forums because of the stories of terrible FATAL pbp games, and I had to read that madness.

Thanks for feeding the addiction, guys.

FATAL and Synibar are the official RPPR games.

Synnibarr I could possibly see working out, mostly just to make a character who can do more damage than the Death Star with his bare hands (even though you'd probably have more fun with Wushu).

I'm not sure if it's actually possible to play a game of FATAL.  The guys on SA just sorta took the character sheets and rolled d20s occasionally, which is way fewer d100 and d10000 than you're supposed to roll.  AND THE DICE NEVER LIE.

Yes!

If you do not create a Ross-like character that has been driven insane by the very world of Synibarr, you are missing out. Also, they must be a ninja.

Well, I'm rolling a character right now to make sure I have some idea of how to do it, and most of it is random generation.  It's a female hispanic wereman that is 6' tall, but only weighs 142lbs but can carry 2,600lbs, and is below average, and...

I just don't know anymore...

My name is Jason. I've been listening to RPPR for about 6 months. Finally got completely up to date. I run Call of Cthulhu and Delta Green exclusively, and have for way too long. I live in Southern California, if anyone on the list wants to get together for a game, let me know. I'm a regular lurker on the DGML and YSDC under the same screen name JonasArgham.

My name is Nicholas and I reside in the land of country music in a small town near the capitol of the land. (Nashville)
I started my RPG adventures with AD&D 2ed at the age of about 14. I dmed my first game about 6 months later. Since then I have played a game 4 time's... I am currently running a Star Wars Revised Edition game and A Saga Edition Game. I have been planning a supers game, a X-Files game, a CoC game, and a NWoD one shot. I own the books to Gurps 3ed, Star Wars Revised, Star Wars Saga, NWoD, Promethean, CoC d20, and the Scion Hero, Demigod, and God books. If anyone wants to I would love to play any of those.

Love the Podcast... can't wait for more.

Hi, my name is Mike, and unlike my avatar, I look nothing whatsoever like Bruce Campbell.  ???

My introduction to RPPR came in a very round-about way - through Dwarf Fortress.
Someone mentioned Boatmurdered over on the Giant forums, and they linked the Something Awful Let's Play forum. I followed, like it, signed up under the same name there, and eventually found my way to Trad Games Discussion, where I lurk like a terrified kitten. I saw a few things from Ross there, then I believe I was actually sent here by someone doing an LP of 4E D&D. I found a link to U-Boote Heraus, and I've been listening ever since.

I just ran my first Call of Cthulhu game last week, and I'm due to be running another tonight. I've got at least two years of APs saved to my computer from my group's weekly D&D games, but unfortunately since a lot of them involve copyrighted music, I will not be posting them here. I will, however, be trying to put up any oneshots we've done without such bits of potentially-illegal clips.  ;D

As for me? I suppose I work well as a DM since I'm already the earthly embodiment of evil - I work for for the Tax Department.  :o I'd like to try and set up my own production company in the future, working on games and mixed media projects.

Love the podcast, love the APs, and the forums seem great.
Hi all!

Hey all, I am Derek from Minneapolis.  I have been listening to the podcasts for a few months after my brother-in-law pointed them out to me.  I have a hit and miss group that we have two games between now.  Usually we get a game in every 3-6 weeks, so I spose it could be worse.  I GM more often than not, but I enjoy it so it's of no issue.

Otherwise, said brother-in-law just had a daughter about two weeks ago and my wife and I are expecting our first in about three months, so that is exciting.  It may wreck havok with getting sessions going, but at least I can talk shop with the brother-in-law at family functions, so that helps.

: Re: Introduction
: Robot Master November 30, 2010, 10:48:21 PM
Well the character is from Laeso but worked on his father's fishing vessel, which took him up to Gothenberg where they got into seeing Indian's games. I'm American, but I got the idea of including my character as a fan of Frolunda for a few reasons:

1. The character's background requires him to be from that region.
2. Hockey is my favorite sport.
3. I knew this guy from an old internet game I used to play that used to talk so much mad trash about the NHL here in America. In fact, he was a definite Swedish patriot. He used to talk about how the Swedish military, hockey, etc were awesome and everything else was crap. He spoke the most about the Frolunda Indians. I've seen a few feeds over the internet of Eliteserien and they're pretty good...so I thought "what the hell, why not?".

It worked out pretty well. It's good "fleshing out" of the character.
: Re: Introduction
: Strangelet November 30, 2010, 11:27:41 PM
Well, yeah, that's quite a common thing swedes do. I mean, talking about our stuff as the best ever and looking down on others' stuff, especially yours, all the while talking about how we're so enlightened for respecting other cultures. So yeah.  :D

Interesting choice to come from an island in the middle of nowhere. One thing though, be a bit careful with who you call patriotic, because even though we may seem very proud of our nation just like americans are, we generally don't call that patriotism. Instead patriotism is a controversial word currently owned by national conservative wingnuts.
: Re: Introduction
: Robot Master November 30, 2010, 11:33:15 PM
Oooo okay, sorry about that I'll keep that in mind for the future. I couldn't think of a better word at the time.

Well, the choice of Laeso wasn't exactly an intellectual one. The character is the child of Sif, and the Marvel wikipedia listed Sif's birthplace as the island of Laeso.

: Strangelet November 30, 2010, 11:39:49 PM
A question though: I actually also had a mail friend many years ago, I think it must have been around 98, that I talked a lot to about various cock-measuring subjects. And he was from Arizona, just like you. This wasn't Age of Empires, was it?  ;D

EDIT:

It can't be us though, on second thought, since I can't have talked about sports any back then before I got any interest at all. Plus, it'd be quite unsettling to bump in to him just like that, since he stopped mailing to me after throwing a religious moral tantrum over my sexuality.

I stumbled across the New World actual plays some time ago, and just sort of rediscovered the site when I was looking for some more actual plays to listen to on my 40 minute walk to the train station to commute another hour to work each day.  I dowloaded a couple of RPPR episodes, and found the discussions interesting and relevant (although I've got to say the disorganisation of the flow of conversation can make me lose track sometimes).

I turn 31 tomorrow.  Been roleplaying for 21 years, ever since a friend at primary school got given the D&D black box for a present, and then photocopied another friend's Monstrous Compendium.  I ran a 2E D&D campaign for the last three years of high school, before joining the roleplaying society at my university, where I ran AD&D, Mage, Vampire, and a Superheroes game of my own devising (ripped off a system called Kill Puppies For Satan), as well as a few con games in my time (first one I ever ran was a Matrix prequel just after the Matrix came out, using Mage rules).

After leaving university, I got a job working for a mission agency, and had to move states to Queensland (oh, I'm Australian btw) and there got involved in a gaming group where I ran some 3E D&D, Shadowrun, Mage, and also got into Warhammer 40k.  Then some guy I met got me into the card game Shadowfist, as well as Feng Shui, the roleplaying game based on it.  Then my car got stolen - with my 40k armies inside.  But I was frustrated with GW and their crappy rules support anyway, so I put my energies into Shadowfist instead.

Then I moved back to Sydney to follow a political job opportunity (which went belly up), but I found some people to teach Shadowfist to, ran some D&D, Mage and Feng Shui games, and went back to running games at the gaming convention my university roleplaying group runs.  I also started a gaming club called Ministry of Game (http://www.ministryofgame.org) this year, which exists to help gamers in my local area meet and to encourage more people to run games, as there seems to be a dearth of DMs in the gaming scene where I live.

So, yeah.  Hi.
: Re: Introduction
: Moondog December 22, 2010, 12:31:16 AM
Got linked to the Andrew's Fortune AP by a friend of mine, gave it a listen. Then I moved on to the rest.

Big 'mistake', lemme tell you. Now I've got a huge backlog of systems I want to try out and ideas that keep me up at night. Figured I'd inflict myself on all ya'll to return the favor ;)

About me. Uh, 23, got introduced to tabletop when I picked up the 1st edition AD&D Monster Manual and Player's Handbook from a thrift store when I was about, oh, 9 or so, collected 'em since. Moved on to Shadowrun (2nd), and from there D&D 3.0, and now I have a small library of junk.

I game pretty frequently, being a part of 3 different D&D (3.5, with some heavy Pathfinder influences) groups, and personally am running a A Dirty World mini-game. Once that finishes, I'll work on adapting the Japanese horror film 'Sweet Home' to World of Darkness and probably Clock Tower to Fear Itself.

So, hi.

Nice. I've read a Let's Play of Clock Tower and it seems like a good fit for a tabletop game. Are you just basing the Sweet Home game after the movie or are you using anything from the video game?

Good question! I'm going to do a mix of the two. I think the game adds some elements (slow revealing of creepy background information through vaguely supernatural paintings) that the movie is lacking, but for the most part, will be basing it around the movie.

Group of suicidal fools brave, intrepid adventurers seeking the secret of the Haunted Mansion, home to renowned and possibly insane artist <name here>, who went crazy, but may have left near-priceless works of art in the home, hidden somewhere.

They go in, they set up shop, get a little comfortable.  Then things begin going down hill. . . It's something I'm looking forward to running.

Clock Tower could go either way, the biggest issue for me will be choosing a system to do it in, so I can influence the flavor of characters. D20 Modern and D&D would be right out, as it would be very easy to turn around and pummel scissor-man senseless repeatedly, for example. I'm hoping that with World of Darkness (mortals only!) or maybe Fear Itself or even Monsters and Other Childish Things, I can get the 'you could run into the horrifying murderer at any minute. What do you do? *smiles*" feel of the game just right.

: Re: Introduction
: clockworkjoe December 26, 2010, 01:47:46 AM
First, be smart from the very beginning. Pulverize all teeth, burn off fingerprints, and disfigure the face. Forcing a DNA test to establish identity (if it ever comes to that) might introduce the legal/forensic hurdle that saves your ass down the line. An unidentifiable body can, in a pinch, be dressed in thrift store clothes and dropped in a bad part of town where the police are less likely to question it. I don't reommend that disposal method, I'm just saying an easily identifiable body is an even bigger threat than the opposite.

Assuming you have it inside a house where you can work on it a bit, the first thing you want to do is drain it of fluids. This will make it easier to cut up, and slow decomposition a little bit. The best way to do this quick and dirty is to perforate the body with a pointed knife, and then perform CPR on it. Cut the fronts of the thighs deep, diagonally, to slit the femoral arteries. Then pump the chest. The valves in the heart will still work when dead, and the springback of the ribcage can put apply a fair amount of suction to the artria. Do this in a tub. Plug the drain, and mingle lots of bleach with the bodily fluids before unplugging the drain to empty the tub. This should help control the stench of death, which would otherwise reek from your gutter gratings. Do everything you can to control odors. Plug in an ionizer, burn candles, leave bowls of baking soda everywhere. Ventilate the room in the middle of the night, but otherwise keep it closed. Keep the body under a plastic sheet while it's in the tub.

If you want to bury, I recommend seperating the body into several parts, and burying them seperately. For one thing, it's easier to dig a deep enough hole for a head than for an entire body. this reduces your chances of being discovered while you are actually outside and digging the grave.
That is the one thing you can't do inside the doors of your house, and represents a vulnerable moment you want to keep brief, under 2 hours. Do it between 3 and 5 am. It's also less likely for someone to call the police if their dog digs up some chunk of meat, than if they dig up an enitre body. They may assume it's an animal carcass disfigured by decomposition, and leave it alone or dispose of it. It's also more likely that the dog will consume all of it before anyone knows the difference. A whole skeleton is another story. You can cut a body into 6 pieces faster than you think. It's not much different than boning a chicken, but it takes more work, a big knife, and time. A hammer will be useful for pulverizing joints or driving the knife deep where it doesn't want to go. Anyway it's wise to crush as much of the skeleton as you can along the way. It will aid in making the body less identifiable for what it is as it decomposes.

Don't return to the same site 6 times for 6 burials. You'll attract suspicion from anyone nearby, and you'll wind up placing the body parts close enough together to be found by any serious investigation. Put them in plastic bags with lots of bleach, and store in a freezer until you have enough time to bury them all.

Depending on what tools you have available, you may find that you're get really good at deconstructing the body. You might prefer to slowly sprinkle it down a drain without leaving your house. This avoids the long-term risk of discovery associated with burial, and the overwhelming supply of bacteria in a sewer accellerates deconomposition, whil e providing a convenient cover smell.

Truly grinding down a body takes a lot more work, and you run the risk of fouling your plumbing and calling in a plumber. So don't try it unless you know how to clear bones and meat out of a drainpipe. A good food processor can be useful. But don't over-use it, or power drills or saws. They're noisy and they attract attention. And forget the kitchen sink. It's better if you actually remove one of the toilets in your house from its base, which will give you direct access to one of the largest sewer pipes that enters your house. Follow any disposals with lots of bleach and then run the water for 5 or 10 minutes on top of that. And plug that pipe when you're not using it, to prevent any sewer gasses from backing up into your house. Usually, a U-trap inside the toilet does that for you.

Goood morning afternoon or evening to all of you out there in the interwebs.

Name's Mojave, nice to meet y'all. I just recently moved to Waco TX and this place is tapped when it comes to gaming, or so I've thus far witnessed. I started listening to RPPR a few weeks ago and was hooked. Never played much other than 2.5 3.0 and 3.5. But since listening to games like Call of Cthulu, fear itself and dont rest your head I've been wanting to branch out. If anyone out there has any info on these games please dont hesitate to shoot it my way!

I started out as a BIG Warhammer 40k gamer until my uncle brought me a used copy of the D&D red box. Since then I have been hooked on RPG's and have played with several different systems.
Ive been a fan of RPPR for the last year and a half and have managed to torment my wife to be with many a actual play. I give many a thanks to THe crew of RPPR for the useful advice what has helped me become a better GM.

Hey everyone!

My name is Jim and I am 29 from Lansing. I first got in to gaming when my wife of all people recruited me to play in her friend's Pathfinder game. When the GM moved to the Netherlands, I got the itch to keep playing, and through the magic of the internets I was able to come across the Divine Fire actual play. After that, I went out and bought the CoC core book, ran a game, and never looked back. I was running a regular game over the summer, and I am now actually writing my own material. So I guess I owe you guys (especially Tom and Ross) a great deal of thanks/blame for exposing me to RPGs that don't involve wizards, but do involve unspeakable horrors.  ;) I've never had a great outlet for my love of horror books and films before, and I have actually convinced a lot of friends to try role playing for the first time.

I look forward to each and every podcast, and can't wait to see what you guys do next!

Does that make me a fan boy?

I'm AdriRaven, I joined the forums some time ago, but I've been a lurker for awhile in between this niggling nuisance called 'Real Life'.  I found the forums after lucking out on the Actual Play lists.  I've been a gamer for most of my life (the years of it not spent picking my nose, pooing my pants and playing with my Transformers and Star Wars figures), with a love of horror-style games.  Since I've found myself commenting on the Actual Plays, I figured I'd introduce myself and be somewhat more neighborly

My last "introduction" wasn't really an introduction. Looking back on it, it kind of looks like a spam post... My bad.

Anyways, I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons on and off since my friend's dad introduced it to us in 1st grade. I found RPPR when I was around 13ish, and have been listening ever since. Hello,

I've been lurking here for a bit over a year now and after meeting Ross and Caleb at gencon I've decided to join up.  Been playing tabletop games since I was about nine.  My first game was actually a Ravenloft scenario ran by my brother in which I killed a prisoner for no reason.
Other games that I have played/am playing:
All versions of D&D since 2nd ed.
               HERO System
               Deadlands (pre-d20 fuck up)
               oWoD
               nWoD
               Shadowrun
               Earthdawn
Games I've bought because of RPPR:
                Call of Chtulu
                Eclipse Phase
Monsters and Other Childish Things (including Road Trip)

Unfortunately no.  It was my first gencon and the scheduling system is crap so I didn't get into anything.  When I was listing to gencon wrapup part two I was kicking myself for not trying to show up with generics.  Also I am the guy that showed up as you were packing up your panel and then again at eclipse phase.

Hello all,

My name is Kevin, I'm from the Detroit area here in the Wolverine state (Go Blue!).
I'm kinda old..42 going on 43 and have been gaming on and off since the golden age of the early 80's.

I really love the RppR podcasts and finally felt inclined to check out the website.....here...checking.

Anyway I've been a pretty hardcore Call of Cthulhu player and Lovecraftian for the last 20 years but  recently realized I am in a total state of Cthulhu-burnout. The same basic tropes have been done into the ground for me....painfully so. Ugh...it hurts. Please no more shoggoths, no deep ones, no Shubnubs etc.

Sadly, I was actually getting ready to go dormant again as far as gaming and find something else to do. That is until I listened to one of Tom's anti-Palladium rants. Which strangely compelled me to go dig out my old Palladium books.  To my suprise I started reading the crap out of them...yeah I remembered how goofy the system is...but at the same time I remembered how much frikken fun I had playing TMNT, Robotech (all three eras) and PFRPG. My  prostate then released mega doses of creative juice!!!

For all you can say about the system sucking...the settings always were overflowing with fun. Anyway...I recently started up a fresh new group and started playing Nightbane. It was actually kinda a nice change a pace pounding on the supernatural, rather than running away yet again. The battle was actually very hard fought, but the Saturday session was wall to mega-frikken damage wall fun.

Life's too short to slag on everything...I officially quit slagging Palladium.

I've met Kevin Siembieda, yeah I'm sure he's some mad psuedo-genius, control freak, but damn if he aint engaging, entertaining and encouraging. I live 10 minutes away from the Palladium offices and warehouse, so I feel like I am supporting our local homegrown hero. I actually plan on going to their open house in May....which from what I've read are epic.

I'm happy to be here.
Let the juices flow!

PS-I've only played Rifts once. I died...

I haven't had any problems with the Palladium system thusfar...of course I haven't been playing Rifts. Which I guess the whole Mega-damage vs. regular damage mechanic is a huge problem.

Palladium-wise, I am really liking the mechanics, the back and forth, punch, dodge, parry, shoot and roll is extremely cinematic.

I really am getting a kick out of interpreting the actions for my players...it was actually quite thrilling with the Nightbane getting put through a wall, missed punches shattering plaster and both Nightbane and foe falling after wrestling their way out a 2nd story window.

Anyway...keep up the good work. :o

34 years of age...rpg's I've spent the most time on are DnD (up to 3.5), GURPS, and Savage Worlds...I prefer a playstyle that does not take the game too seriously, yet relies on rules structure to define the game and provide non-arbitrary challenge and accomplishment...

I have never actually thrown a sword, but am in a state of continuous mental preparation, should the need arise...

I've been running a GURPS campaign long distance with a buddy of mine that has been scrapped and redesigned more times than it has been actually played over the course of the last year, but if you are willing to count that, then yep.

Preparing the first version of it literally tought me elementary rocket science during the process though, (albeit involuntarily,) so that one was not a total loss.

Hello all,

I'm 38 yrs, from the uk. I started GMing rpg's in the mid 80's. Calmacil was my very first character in Merp.

Since then our group has enjoyed D&D 3.5, Cthulhu, Rolemaster, Sla Industries.

I've also taken part as a player in Conan d20, cyberpunk, Star wars (the old d6 version), Deadlands, vampire masquerade, marvel superheroes (and probably others i've forgotten) But none of those systems really got going, usually a one off game.

Not run a game for about 5 years. I've got a gaming group that meets once a week for some board games, a few of them have asked me to run a rp game. So hopefully i'll get back into it. Just bought myself a copy of "The One Ring", and I'm enjoying it so far  :D

I finally, after coming to college, found a group to play with.  ;D

My favorite game is CoC, but I want to try Eclipse phase, as it looks beast.

Hi!  I'm 24 years old and live in New York.  I started gaming when I was about 17 with a friend's terrible hacked together space fantasy homebrew system.  Since then I've tried D&D 3.5 and 4e, Unknown Armies, Mutants and Masterminds, and GURPS.  And hopefully Eclipse Phase sometime in the future, if my friend runs the game he's planning.

I've been listening to the podcast for a while now and lurking the forums once in a while, but I'm pretty shy so I haven't posted until now.

I am 20 years old, and am studying Computer Graphics Technology at my local community collage. I got my start in gaming when I was in kindergarten with some old warhammer minis my dad had around the house.
My group is about to start Eclipse Phase with me as the GM, and I am also running Shadowrun on and off.
I greatly enjoy your Eclipse Phase APs, and they have been very helpful in convincing my group to give the game a chance.

Hello!  I found the RPPR via the Something Awful forums and I'm very glad for it.  Listening to the podcasts in the car makes my commutes fun and I'm usually laughing my ass off along with the cast. I got introduced to RPGs through Palladiums TMNT in my formative years but didn't find a stable group until just a few years ago when I was well into my twenties.

Our group has done various Shadowrun campaigns, Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader, and currently a long running mob drama in the gritty, medieval Harn setting and a swashbuckling 7th Sea game.  There's been a mix of one shots in there and I'm hoping to get permission from the others to record and post an upcoming Mountain Witch one-shot set in modern times.

I'm glad to be here! :)

Hello all.
Wanted to introduce myself on here.
I'm Jen, 30 years old, engaged, nerdy girl. I live out here on the east coast in RI. I need to find a good gaming group over here.
General crafter of various nerdy things. Sewing, making dice jewelry, painting minis, sculpting, needle-felting, making props for the LARP I am in (I'm Head of Props for our chapter, I make all sorts of crazy stuff with MacGyver like skills).

Been into table top gaming since high school. Been plaing video games since the Commodore 64, for those of you that don't know what that is it's really fricken old!  ;)  I've played a variety of table top games, played Advanced D&D and mostly got started for real on 3.0. I have been learning more about other systems and have played GURPS, Shadowrun, Mutants and Masterminds, and probably a few others I can't remember at the moment. I LARP, been doing it for over 10 years now, wow, it's weird to type that out. Part of Alliance LARP NJ.

My fiance gave me a few of your pod casts to listen to one day and well I've been completely hooked ever since! Been listening to the New World campaign and I am loving it, it's funny to realize how old it is when movies and such are mentioned, but some days at work it's the only thing that keeps me from having a mental breakdown.

I love being able to listen to you all since I don't have a lot of free time to play these days it lets me get my nerdiness in the day and still get work done.

Well that's enough about me. I think I just got my fiance to realize he needs to get on here and actually talk to people and introduce himself too.  ;D

Heyo,

I'm a 27 year old gamer living in Providence RI.  Not currently in a regular gaming group, though I've got some folks I've played Pathfinder with once or twice when schedules permit.  Found about about RPPR while looking through podcasts to keep me entertained during my day job.

Been into tabletop RPGs since middle school, playing your standard array of the D&Ds and the White Wolfs.  Lately my interests lie more in the Mutants and Masterminds and ORE direction, though I read just about any RPG that crosses my eye for the fun of it.
I've also LARPed for about 8 years now, which if nothing else is a sure fire way to find folks to game with.

Been an occasional lurker for a good long while now, until I showed the podcast to my fiancee BellaJen (see above).  It was then abruptly decided to finally get this awkward first post business out of the way.

Love the podcasts, I eagerly wait for them every week.

'lo everybody!  I'm a 30-something engineer who has been hooked on  tabletop roleplaying for about 7 years.

I didn't get introduced to RPGs until after college when a coworker invited me to join his D&D 3.5 campaign.  After that we played in a Mutants & Masterminds campaign that fell apart because there were too many "loner in a trench coat" characters.  Then I decided I wanted to try this GMing thing and started a Star Wars SE D20 campaign.  It ran for 5 years and completed three large story arcs.  The final session was earlier this spring *sniff*... *a tear*.

Somewhere along the way I started listening to RPG podcasts like RPPR and The Game Master Show and had my mind blown out my ears by the variety of gaming systems and settings.  I'm now the resident GM for my gaming group and am always trying to expand their horizons with new games (Eclipse Phase, Monsters & Other Childish Things, Ninja Burger, Spirit of the Century, PDQ, so far).

I live in Utah (ohgodsaveme) and have been a listener of RPPR since the site first started. Used to have a different account here, but i forgot it's info and don't have the email it was under any more so decided to make a new one.
While I am a huge fan of RPGs and wish I could play them all the time, I don't get to play much due to my work schedule and the lack of interest from people I know.
Mostly I am playing a lot wargammer, WH40k and WarmaHoards primarily with the occasional WHFB thrown in there.

Hi Everyone!  Forgive me if I am not doing this correctly but I just wanted to share the love with you wonderful RPG-ers!  I played my first RPG last night with my husband and brother-in-law, both who are avid players and I blogged all about it (because that is what I do!)  I would love for any of you guys to check it out!  Thanks!

We shall see if I will play another one sometime soon!

Good morning, day, or evening, as it may be to any of you.
To continue in the RPG Anonymous vibe this whole thread has going on:
My name's Chris, I'm 23, and I've been my Skype group's designated GM on-and-off for 3 years now. I'm at college in South Florida, in a city called Mouse Mouth, where I study evolutionary biology and work at a newspaper. I've been trying to get a RL game of something going on here for a while now.
I first started gaming when I was 16, when I began working on the abortive game Dungeons and Discourse (based onthis Dresden Codak comic (http://dresdencodak.com/2006/12/03/dungeons-and-discourse/), which is still in development and has pretty awful mechanics; I've turned into one of the two guys in charge of developing it, so we're starting over from scratch.

I'm a huge fan of gaming, but I have a soft spot for abstract Indie RPGs and rules-lite systems; they usually allow for much stranger games.
My favorite games are tied for Monster and Other Childish Things, Unknown Armies, and Don't Rest Your Head; I'm basically obsessed with any game where Ben Baugh or Greg Stolze is involved somehow.
: Re: Introduction
: clockworkjoe July 04, 2012, 08:57:34 PM
cool! You will be pleased to know that Ben Baugh is working on a thing for Arc Dream - don't know how much else I can say at this point.

Greg Stolze is working on a facebook version of the 13th Age RPG. Not sure what else he is working on.

genties & ladlemen,

i am a quantum fluctuation, a bit of universe that has become somewhat aware of itself, made of trillions of semi-autonomous parts that compete amongst themselves to produce the self-writing infovore that "is" "I".

i came to the gaming space through the blue book D&D during elementary school; i chose, brazenly (stupidly?) to play a magic user -- one shot sleep spell then hide behind everyone else until the next day

i seriously started playing during the era of "Killer DMs" and dungeons as puzzles, populated by bois, where a fly could eventually kill your character...

i have played enough games that i can grok their basic similarities and abstract their play out -- i haven't really played a pen n paper RPG since the early 2000, though i did get sucked into the LARPing biz (which is like mainlining role-playing -- the GOOD STUFF)

i was lucky enough to attend Gen Con a few times at MECCA (pbui; the Holy Land of gamers everywhere) and even got to see the very bemusing and strange American culture -- when I asked where some local restaurants were, the Infocritter said that if I like ethnic foods, the taco bell...

i even got to see how funny people can be right from the first release of M:tG -- cards lying in the bathroom toilets

i stopped playing RPGs because my thinking became too abstract; as soon as i looked at a game i would think of "Ok, so in order to role-play me being sick, i have to roll these dice and get at least this number and have the one person in authority witness it..."

i still adore 3rd party games -- there is some pretty awesome writing and ideas there and have kept my collection for that reason

i am a citizen of the world (though i belong to the Land of Laughter, otherwise known as Canada)

Ahoy, I am Bishop, or, if you wish to call me by my full title, the Bishop Sans-Pants.

I currently live in Oklahoma City. I don't have a career, just a series of odd jobs that keeps me clothed, fed, and sheltered (usually).

I have two fairly disparate gaming groups: a D&D/Pathfinder group that is more of a beer-and-snacks group (although we do have a fairly long-running world wherein we run story arcs until the group eventually dies, fails, or gets to 15th level) and a more dramatic group that I play the one-roll system, Fiasco, and games of those ilk with. I shall soon be a part of a third, Call of Cthulhu group. I have a habit, it's cool, I feel alive.

I got into tabletop my freshman year of college and never looked back.

I also enjoy video games (console mostly, but sometimes I play computer-based), spending an inordinate amount of time on Wikipedia, and consuming entertainment media (e.g. movies and music).

My favorites are percentile systems such as Call of Cthulhu and Eclipse Phase.

My name's Jared, early 30ish.  I GM mostly because nobody else does.  I'm working on putting together an online game, probably through something like Roll20, of Pathfinder's Kingmaker.  My local group's go at it dissolved into in-fighting and when I realized I was spending more time playing group therapist than trying to kill them with kobalds I decided it wasn't going to work out.  I bought those books and like the campaign, I'd really like to see a successful go at it.

For my local group I'm going to stick with horror and mystery one-shots from now on.  Those have become my favorite games to play and listen to.  I'm hoping to get some of these guys outside of their D&D comfort zone and put the power gaming behind them.  I'm hoping that the games Caleb has put out will help me open some eyes.  Wages of Sin is my favorite of anything you guys have done.  Hell, it should be a movie.
: Re: Introduction
: Moose Fisher October 20, 2012, 04:36:16 AM
I wrote a lengthy post, only to accidentally click back and lose the entire thing!
Here's my second attempt:

Hello there!

My name is Thomas, I am 21 years old as of this writing and studying computer science.  I am a long, looong time listener, first time caller poster.

I suppose this is where I put on my hipster glasses, because I found this place since episode 3 was posted!  I don't even remember how I found this site!  I didn't become an active 'subscriber' until the following March of 2008, listening to RPPR on the plane ride to some family.

I started RPGs with 3.5 D&D (My bro's 1e AD&D being my early exposure), but broadened out with the release of 4e D&D.  Like many people I had frustrations of things I liked changing. But instead of stubbornly holding to one system, I looked to other RPGs.  These days I view this as the best thing to happen with my relationship with RPGs, as my library has broadened, and with them my views.  I even prefer 4e over 3.5 now, but I would still like to try some AD&D.
My first non-D&D RPG was Call of Cthulhu, inspired by hearing the stories from the podcast and getting into Lovecraft.  From there I expanded into Mutants and Masterminds, (new) World of Darkness, Eclipse Phase, and many more.

I am also the secretary of my university's gaming club.  It's been great playing and running various RPGs and board games.  I've even made it some-what of a mission to introduce new players to Roleplaying with rules-light games like Call of Cthulhu over the typical D&D.

My biggest flaw lately is designing my own scenarios or taking the time to learn new rules so I can introduce people to them.  It's really hard to sit down and get those words on paper.  I've been dying to run some Eclipse Phase but I haven't been able to organize anything, not to mention I've got Tenra Bansho Zero diverting my attention as well.

Frankly, this hobby is great and I wish I could do more with it. ;D

As for why I finally registered to the forums?  I suppose it's because I wanted to deliver this message after watching a few of the RPPR videos:

It's a weird feeling to have my mental images of the RPPR crew shattered.

Then I would have to compliment you on your lip-sync and video/audio editing skills.

But don't worry, I think I'll be able to recover from the shock and face reality.

Howdy everyone. I'm Kurt.

I started tabletop gaming in High School, and been gaming over Skype for about 3 years.

I've been mostly running games involving 4E, Wild Talents and Eclipse Phase as of late, with no small part from the fine gentlemen of this site...

I'll be honest, I've been looking for a new community, as my last one kind of exploded.

So, I hope everyone will have me.

My name is Steven. I've known Cody for a while but only recently decided to check out this Role Playing Public Radio thing that he always links to. I have since become an actual play junkie.

I haven't had much experience with RPGs. I tried to get some friends interested in Star Wars D6 in high school, but that phased out after a couple of sessions. After listening to all of Ross's nWoD sessions (Arcadia Signal was awesome, especially because I was strung out on cold medicine at the time), I resolved to try again. I've tried to get a few friends interested but have had very little success.

My goal for next year is give The One Ring a shot and to run a few Doctor Who sessions. I want to have fans of the 2005 Doctor Who play through games based on plots from the old series of Doctor Who. I'm quite eager to see how player logic would change the stories. I'm also hoping to find a group where I can be a player rather than a GM. So far I've only run games, never played them.

Hello everyone. I'm Elijah. Nice to meet you.

I've been a listener for a little over a year. I found the site when I was digging through the Ichor Falls archives and found the link Kris Straub posted for the Candle Cove game. After listening to that, I was pretty much hooked. I've actually listened to a lot of the community RPs as well (loved all of them, by the way).

Sadly, I've never had the chance to participate in any tabletop games. I'd like to, but I haven't had any luck finding a group yet. Oh well.

Anyway, I finally decided to stop lurking, and start participating. So, uh, yeah. Hey. How's it going?

Hey guys, decided to finally make an account to join in on the fan bus. I've been following RPPR's actual plays for about a year now and I've got to say: it got me back on track with a couple of 'other' systems that are out in the PnP world.

I don't live in the US, as I currently live in the Netherlands, so it's harder to find a group to play with, but I've managed to get together a group of 7 people with which we play Pathfinder once a week (every other week I DM the Rise of the Runelords adventure path). We're a motley crew of computer science and philosophy graduate students so we manage to somehow combine the extremes of geekery (I fit in with the last group).

RPPR's Actual Play of Eclipse Phase is up till now my favourite - Know Evil is an amazing campaign and it's so far inspired me to get the Eclipse Phase rulebook and I'm setting up a surprise one-shot for our next session (I'm thinking about starting off with the adventure called Continuity to set the atmosphere and get the players known with Eclipse Phase's flavour). I'm starting with Heroes of New Arcadia once I'm done with my current stack of papers-to-write.

I've joined the RPPR fan steamgroup, so if you want to chat or play terrible games I'm your man; just look for CommissarKip in the member list.

So yes, hello there.

Hey everyone,

I stumpled across RPPR just before Christmas and have become a fan. I listined to one current episode then jumped back 50 or so to the earliest itunes will let me download from and I'm working my way forward to the current episodes. I havent listined to any live plays yet but I will soon I'm sure.

I started gaming at around the age of 12 with Palladium Game's TMNT After the Bomb. I soon graduated to AD&D second edition and we bounced back and forth mostly playing that and Rifts for the high school years, with an occasion splash of Heroes Unlimited and Ninjas and Superspies.

Then the years of school and work started and I never played anything in between AD&D 2nd Edition and 4th. I was lucky to find a few wannabe gamers when I started a new job a few years ago.

We now have a weekly gaming group that rotates from board games to RPGs weekly.

I've been using RPPR to identify flaws  as a GM/DM. In the old days I was a player. With leading a group of new gamers I'm the most experienced and I've been thrust into the GM role.

Anyways I hope i can contribute to the community here.

All the best,
Marik

My favourite Actual Plays to listen to are the Call of Cthulu - Invictus ones

Hi all, my name is Eric.  I'm the guy that posted the "What Are Must Listen Episodes" thread on FB and the guy that is currently correcting all your Star Wars references on Raillery.   ;D

I've been listening to the APs since last Fall.  As I said in another thread, my first AP was Aaron's Haunting and for some reason it didn't scare me away.  I quickly listened to all the CoC, then New World, then Eclipse Phase, and now I'm finally half way through New Arcadia.  I don't know what I'll do when there's no more backlog for me to catch up on.  I joined the forums mainly to stalk Crawlkill.   ;)

Quick bio: I'm 28 and from Idaho.  I have limited rpg experience: a couple of 4e DnD campaigns that fell apart rather quickly and a few pbp's over at Penny Arcade.  I want to role play more but its hard to find a group.

Anyway, I love RPPR.  Keep up the good work guys!

Hey guys I'm Vivax. I started listening to the podcast during the summer of 2010 when I found myself in a laboratory identifying insect specimens down to genus for hours on end (long story...). In no small part to the influence of the show I started reaching out to RP groups and have tried my hand GMing several times. I'm so fond of No Evil that I've listened to the campaign in full at least thrice. And...well...that's it.

: Re: Introduction
: Jadzia Katarzyna August 30, 2013, 04:33:09 PM
Hi all. I figure since I'm being all serious business in another thread, I figure I should introduce myself so you know I'm not all doom face all the time.

I'm an Australian of Polish descent hence the name Jadzia Katarzyna.  I'm studying psychology and social science and sell video games in the hours that I'm not reading a seemingly never ending amount of material on Freud (seriously, so much Freud).

Cyberpunk was my gateway game but then I fell in love with World of Darkness, particularly mortal campaigns. I've been a GM more than a player but unfortunately have no current group atm.

I've been listening to RPPR for over two years but I tend to be a lurker unless it's something I'm passionate about (serious business thread a case in point).

I tend towards both sci-fi and psychological horror in games and fully support Ross' obsession with the King in Yellow. I may also want to run off with Ross' and Caleb's brains for all the tricksy creepiness and have a soft spot for Aaron and his wonderful logic (seriously, I genuinely wish I'd had a player that determined to stay true to character).

So that's me in a nutshell. Thanks for all the good times so far and I look forward to more wonderful stories.

Edit to fix phone autocorrect mistakes -_-

Hoi,
i am Biest from Germany. I am 28 years old and have been roleplaying for 18 years, after getting my first box of The Dark Eye (Das Schwarze Auge, the biggest RPG on the german market) for my tenth birthday. I am still playing with some of the people I started with that day, even if we only manage to do skype games these days.
I have two other groups as well and am an avid con goer. So I get my RPG fix you could say. I gm more often than I play a character but I like both roles. I have been listening to the podcast since sometime around the original Slenderman thread on something awful. Where Ross linked the actual play. I did my own Slenderman scenario too, while the thread was still running. Developing the pictures as photos to use them as handouts.
I play a variety of games and have tested many.
The Dark Eye always will be one of the favorites and it is the game i played the most and where I know the background world best.
Changeling: The Lost is the game I ran the campaign I am happiest looking back in and one I player often.
Shadowrun was one of my favorites during my teenage years but I just can't get excited about it anymore.
I got Dirty World and Monster and other Childish Things because of the podcast.
My favorite indiegames probably are Fiasco and Monsterhearts.

I work as a newsroom writer for the local radio. I am always trying to get some RP text written and finished enought so I can show it to people, but usually I give up. I am an allright Magic: The Gathering player too, PTQ level I would say.
I will see if I post here more often, but it seems like a hassle to always do the captcha thing.

Edit:
I forgot to mention Call of Cthulhu and related systems, they are pretty much my go to for one shots. I love gming horror.

Welcome, Biest!  This is a fun community; you will be glad you joined.

And I, of course, neglected to introduce myself when I joined.  :(

My name is Chris, I am 29, and I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin.   I am currently a bank manager, but I am planning a new career path in Special Education, and I am expecting to have a job in education next fall.

Between the ages of 10 - 16, I had a group of friends that regularly played just about every RPG we could get our hands on: DnD, Shadowrun, GURPS, Rifts(ugh..), Battletech, Vampire, and so on.  I am pretty confident we played everything wrong, but it was still fun.

We stopped gaming for various reasons, but when I was in college I was able to play a few games of Call of Cthulhu.  Then I went into a period of almost 8 years where I did not game at all.

Last Christmas, my wife bought me an iPod, and I decided to load it with some podcasts to listen to while I excercised.  I came upon Critical Hit, which reminded me of all the things I did NOT like about gaming (hours of endless crunchy combat, awkward in character social interaction..) and I was nearly scared off from the hobby.

Luckily, I also downloaded an episode RPPR and an RPPR AP to try out.  I immediately subscribed to both because they reminded me of all the things I LOVED about gaming (the sense of play, the creative group storytelling, the wonderful social interaction).  I have gone headfirst back into gaming to catch up for the time I have missed.

RPPR brought me back to the hobby, which is why I am here today!  :D

Boom!
Long time listener (since the early 'teens if not earlier), first time poster!
I'm Alex, 31 year old from the North of England, been into RPG's since I was 13 or so, but only properly started playing in the past few years. Sadly life tm is preventing me from doing all that much playing at the moment, so I'm trying to spread my wings into PbP and usually falling flat!

Anyway thought I'd introduce myself, love the show, even if I'm not that up to date on it!
: Re: Introduction

PbP games take a lot of time and energy - google hangout/skype games might be easier for you since they're in real time as opposed to requiring a lot of time to write out posts.
: Re: Introduction
: Kamen February 25, 2014, 08:19:19 PM
I recently realized that I've been on the forums for over a year now and have yet to introduce myself, so let me rectify that mistake.

Hi! I'm Noah, I'm 25 and from North Carolina. I've been playing tabletop RPGs since 2008 when D&D 4th ed. came out. Since then I've quickly broadened my dice rolling horizons to stuff like CoC, Shadowrun 4, Eclipse Phase, Warhammer Fantasy, Deadlands, and a bunch of others. My first introduction to RPPR was a few AP games my GM said I should give a listen back in 2010-ish. Since then I've started listening regularly to both shows and I love it!

I'm actually on a mostly Actual Play podcast myself called A Fistful of Misanthropes, if anybody feels like checking it out. We've played all of Caleb's No Security scenarios and greatly enjoyed them! Just one minor warning, we get kinda NSFW at times and tend to get distracted pretty easily, so apologies there. One final plug, I guess, I'm also on twitter as @kamenotaku for those of y'all who are into that. I don't tweet very often by myself and mainly just reply to folks. Still, we can have some nice ~140 character chats!

Anyway! Thanks to Ross and all the RPPR guys, you all provide me hours upon hours of RPG entertainment and knowledge, and it really helps during the work week! Thanks again and see y'all 'round!

Hello folks. This would be my first foray into the forums of anything, ever, so that's fun. I really don't know what to say, so I guess I'll go into a bit about me?
I've been around gaming, most of my life, my dad was a 1st ed dnd DM for as long as I could recall. Uh let's see. I probably got into it, 5 years ago? I started with Star Wars d20. Since then I've been part of my dads group, which has changed to include my great uncle, a buddy we met at a local con, and we just lost someone to a move. My first game I ran as a gm was savage worlds, in which I butchered the hell out of the initiative because I was lazy. Then I got comfy with that, ran a few games. Then I discovered my love for Cthulhu gaming wise. Who isn't a fan of lovecraft? I'm not wholly experienced as much as the rest of my group in terms of being a gm, but I've got tons of ideas and now the time to write them all down and horrify the group. Going to try base raiders next. Good luck me? I'll try and start posting some of my more successful one shots as scenarios for you guys to use. Anyways, now that's over with, what's next?

My name is Josh. Not Steve. Definitely not Steve Carlsberg.

I started listening to RPPR probably 3 years ago and have listened to everything at least once. I keep a steady stream of campaigns on my phone as, at my job, I listen to music and what not all night. So you guys have been filling my ear holes with this amazingness for a good while now. Thank you to everyone who is a part of this thing. It truly has been some of the best laughs I've ever had, and I'll continue to be an willing guinea pig for whatever Ross cooks up, I'll fall into the hands of whatever deathtrap Caleb sets down, I will even play victim to whatever Aaron lures us into, and I'll run screaming from whatever monster Tom throws at us like a kindergarden food fight, with a smile on my face. Or not. You guys are the best. Or maybe the worst. Not sure. Probably both. :D

What's up with this jerk?  I say we make death threats....

(JK, saw your FB post, so had to poke some fun)

Welcome!  Hope you enjoy your stay!

See? This is the kind of abuse I wanted to avoid.
Thanks! As long as Ross keeps his death gazes away from me, I think I'll be ok. Hopefully.

Another Visitor! Stay awhile; stay forever!

It occurs to me that I've probably not introduced myself, either. Oh hai, guys! Chad here, Chados on the comments. 44; gaming since 1982; Trying to get my gaming group to play something other than D&D(the last couple iterations that everyone was tired of anyway).

Steve here. 31, married with a 13 month old daughter.

I've been playing tabletop RPGs since 1995, give or take, but back then we pretty much only played AD&D (2ed), and I remember trying out Shadowrun once.  Took a break in college when I couldn't convince any of my friends to give it a try, and then just started playing again via Google Hangouts about 2 years ago.  Since then, I've been trying out a little bit of anything I can get my hands on with my group.  I never used to GM but I'm pretty much the only one who's willing to GM for my current group -- so that's been a change.

Hey everyone, I'm Zach, 21 years old. I've been listening to RPPR since around halfway through Know Evil and I finally worked up the courage to post something. I have a few sporadic games of D&D under my belt, but ever since hearing the podcast I been looking to seriously get into tabletop gaming. Here's to hoping I can find some games to play.

Kevin here.

I've been listening to RPPR since I was in Delta Green game Ross ran at Gen Con 2013, it was a damn fine Con game.

I'm been playing and running, mostly running, RPG's since about 1985.

Hey everyone, I'm Jose. Jae (Jay) is fine too.

I'm 23, live in Canada, will be starting my Msc. in Psych in the Fall. I've been listening to RPPR for maybe 2 years now? It all blurs together. I get to use headphones during my part time so RPPR is one of the podcasts that stays in rotation, although I can't keep up with all the APs that get pumped out (I don't know how anyone does).

I started playing TTRPGS about the same time I started listening. I was always interested but didn't know how to even get started until a buddy mentioned that he used to play. He decided to run for a few sessions for us, we liked it and converted a few of our friends. It's since become a bit of a rotating GM-ship between him and I, and soon one of our players will be becoming a GM as well. I'll play anything, but I mostly GM "Dirty Hippy Games", like *World games, and Fate. My buddy runs 3.5 DnD, Classic Deadlands and the like.

Hope to become part of the conversation. Game Designer's Workshop series is the one the particularly lit a fire under my butt, and getting involved here seemed like a good place to start.

Hey, I'm just arrived.

I was recommended by a friend when I needed a host for a play-by-post invitational and he's cleared it with the higher ups, I'm told.

So I've been pushed in here to say hello.

I believe I've been loosely affiliated with some of the stuff he may or may not run on here but otherwise, I'm mostly popping by. It's been a while since I've been on the forum but I'll do my best to be a good guest and maybe even forumite.

The captchas here will eventually drive me insane though.

Until then, cheers all & all the best.

: RadioactiveBeer July 13, 2014, 10:05:30 PM
Hey guys,

I'm Patrick from the UK. I got into RPPR through the Actual Plays, specifically Know Evil. At the time, I was actually teaching English in Korea, hooked up with a group of expat roleplayers and wound up being somehow pegged to GM an Eclipse Phase game. To help internalize the rules, I decided to listen to APs in my downtime, Know Evil was one of the first I found and the rest is history.

I chose the name RadioactiveBeer because IrradiatedBrewery was a bit too wordy. Ross knows what he did.

Been a while since I used a forum, but thought it would be a good way to keep my toes in the RPG community.

Wow, how have I not done this sooner?... I mean... Hi! I'm Chris, from Ontario (Canada). Also known as Review Cultist or Crazon online. Been listening to and doing fanart for RPPR for a number of years now, I believe the first thing I listened to was Candle Cove (on account of my CreepyPasta obsession) and been listening to most of the podcast awesome since. I was actually a long time player of games prior to listening to RPPR and afterward became a GM for my live groups (You guys, among other factors, gave me the push). The main sight has definitely widened my awareness and interest of other systems and genres, and the Actual Plays have saved me from otherwise silent and boring work days.

As has probably been deduced, I love to draw and draw what I like (people have probably seen the fanart). A graphic designer and illustrator by trade, it's pretty entertaining to me to draw up things from the games.

I guess that's it... thanks for the entertainment and inspiration! Cant wait to see what comes up next.

Hi everybody, I'm Ethan from Columbia, Missouri (Ethan C. is my normal commentator name on the AP and Episode posts; I'm Trinite most places on the internet).

I think I discovered RPPR sometime around Episode 69 -- pertinent, since I was hoping to start running a little Call of Cthulhu at the time. And so I jumped on over to the Actual Play site to listen to some sessions. Started with Lover in the Ice...and was hooked.

Later on I discovered that the RPPR guys are fellow Missourians, which is cool. Then I met Ross and Caleb at Fear the Con 7 in St. Louis this summer, which was also cool.

RPG-wise, I'm running a long-term Pathfinder campaign for about 6 friends -- with work schedules, we're lucky to play once a month -- and running Call of Cthulhu scenarios whenever I can get folks together for them. I'd really like to run Base Raiders and Eclipse Phase sometime.

Oh, I'm a librarian by profession.

Kerberos Club: The Grandfather Paradox
Your game
A one shot of Wield

Hello everyone, I am Tristan from Ohio.  I've listened to RPPR since the start of their No Evil campaign, but have just got up the presence of mind to actually join the forums.  I've only played a few systems once or twice, and the most common one I've played is the Fallout Equestria homebrewed system.  I'm soon going to be GMing my first game (Better Angels, doing the Good the Bad and the Hunky and then running No Soul Left Behind when that comes out if they like it.)  Otherwise I'm just here to have fun and talk with fellow RPG fans.

Hello all! I'm Thomas from the U.S.A, and I got into the podcast while randomly searching around on iTunes for some new podcast to listen to. I think the first one I listened to was either the Call of Cathulhu or the Isle of Doctor Oak. After that I listened to the Better Angels campaign, and I've been enjoying the RPPR antics ever since. Hopefully one day I'll get a chance to try out some of the games the guys have done over the years, especially Eclipse Phase, Base Raiders, and Better Angels.  Wouldn't mind giving Call of Cthulhu a chance too if I can.

Looks like I’ve made five dozen posts here without introducing myself.  I guess that was a bit rude, so:

Hi, I’m Bryan (that's me in the avatar), I’m 41 years old and I’m an Architectural Technologist (aka draftsman)  in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital of Canada.

I started playing rpgs in ’84 or ’85 when my friends and I played a lot of AD&D and a little Champions & Robotech; I was also introduced to wargaming by way of OGRE & Car Wars at that time.  I had a hiatus from gaming during my highschool years, but got back into rpgs, wargames, comics, etc. between highschool & college in the mid-90’s.  Since then I’ve played (off the top of my head) AD&D 2e, Shadowrun, CoC, Bushido, Heavy Gear (mostly the wargame), Jovian Chronicles (mostly the wargame), D&D 3.x & a bunch of d20 derivatives, LUG Trek, Mega Traveller, GURPS, WFRP 2e, Legend of the Five Rings, Marvel Universe rpg (the one with the stones), LUG Dune, Fading Suns, Feng Shui, Deadlands, Metabarons, Exalted, Artesia, Vampire, Scion, D&D 4e, Dark Heresy…

I'm on a bit of an rpg hiatus again now, but I still play occasionally, and I’m wargaming as well.  I heard about RPPR while listening to the Unspeakable! Podcast, so here I am…

Hi all

I'm Laura, a cataloging librarian by profession, and with any luck, about to start actually playing in a ShadowRun game. Now that we've actually managed to have 2 sessions and finish building characters. This is what happens with someone who's completely new to RPGs, a baby, and two folks playing insanely complicated characters (a hacker and a rigger). I'm also in a 2nd ed. DnD campaign (completely bored - the GM doesn't do plot) and really hoping a local GM starts doing some EclipsePhase one-shots soon since the interested folks' schedules are too convoluted for regularly scheduled sessions and thus a campaign.

Mostly I lurk.

Thank you!

If only I could find a regular game for Eclipse Phase - my usual GM is currently in the throws of 'new parent' so not so much with learning new systems right now. Even though he really does want to pick up Eclipse Phase at some point.  This is actually my ShadowRun GM - he actually bans new players to the system from playing a magic user, hacker or rigger their first campaign. Those three types use a system within a system, so that way new folks only need to learn the general system first go. On the plus side, easier on the player. On the negative side, if everyone is new, that's going to limit the kind of runs a group can do. Also on the down side (for the entire system, in my opinion) is the complexity of the rules the GM just keeps in his head, in order to keep track of the opposition.

Also, I think I would pay good money to listen to Caleb in a ShadowRun game, the twisty, crafty gentleman. Actually, I'd pay more money to watch/listen to Caleb game with my partner going up against my GM. The lot of the twisty machiavellian ... folk. Let's just put it this way: in a random game at a con, I checked with that GM that red actually meant bad, green good in a color coding system. Because that is the level of assumption that my GM will fuck me over for. In addition to every crazy complication he throws at us.

Hello fellow tech services librarian! Please to meet another one of us on the internet (not on AutoCat)!
Given that Kansas University has the Gunn Center for the Study of Science Fiction (http://www.sfcenter.ku.edu/sflib.htm (http://www.sfcenter.ku.edu/sflib.htm)), that could already be out there. Very poorly advertised, but out there ;D  I think it'd be really cool if that library could get buy-in from the industry to be a deposit library like the British library - one copy of everything published automatically given to the library. Other than the same inevitable problem of running out of room, like the British library...

Hey all.  I have only posted once but I've been going through and making comments (as KenR) on old AP episodes.  I've recently become hooked on the APs - in particular, for CoC and ToC adventures, it's fun to listen through and see what crazy things the players do, then read the whole scenario, then maybe run it for other people.  Listening to you guys run through Better Angels and other systems has also given me some ideas on how to streamline my own games.  Mostly it's just fun though.

I'm running Dungeon World and Monsters and Other Childish Things right now (with a Team Rocket from Pokemon theme to it).  I'm hoping to throw in some more investigative games once the Dungeon World game wraps up.

Anyways, I am a grad student in biology, hopefully getting near the end of my time in school.  I also like to cook and brew up beer to drink during game nights.  I have too many cats.

Greetings, everyone! I'm The Lost Carol, AKA Greg. I'm from [REDACTED] in Northeast Ohio. First time caller, long time listener. I looked up RPG podcasts after I got into the hobby a few years ago and RPPR immediately caught my eye because it not only talked about RPGs but played them. My first APs were Polybius (Still my fav) and the Night Clerk, which were pretty good intros to the group and to the world outside of 2.5. I've grown to love RPGs, but sadly don't play them as much as I'd like. My group only does a 2.5 D&D campaign and we're lucky to meet once a month. I hope GM and get them into EP or some of the other books I've bought like CoC, MaOCT, or Slasher Flick, or maybe find some players online after my life settles down.

Hey, I'm Matthew. I'm 20 years old and currently living in Ottawa, ON and have been lurking around on the site for awhile. I started playing rpgs around 2ish years ago in a 4e game that a friend from university invited me too. Around this time I picked up the core rules for Eclipse Phase which has sat on my shelf majestically for the same amount of time. I recently starting DMing my own Eclipse Phase game after the pain of trying to get a stable group together.

I've been listening to RPPR for around a year now and was brought to it via the EP forums list of actual play podcasts. Binge listening to Know Evil and the first few one-shots gave me the courage to start working toward DMing my own games of EP.

I enjoy listening to the main podcast and GDW and the APs when I can find a way to sit down listen to them for 2 - 3 hours. I have also pledge to stop lurking as much and become more sociable.

Hey all, I'm Carl.  I'm 27 from Portsmouth, England, been listening to the podcast for quite a long time but never really paid much attention to the forums.  I joined a RP club of about 16 people last year and we normally have 3 different games on each week.

Just started to GM games myself and it's something I really want to get good at.  Planning on doing a 12 week Base Raiders campaign next.

The first actual play I listened too was "The Shard" AFMBE game set in England.  So so funny.  Keep up the good work guys.

Awesome! With Boiling Point out, you can easily get a campaign started. After the PCs finish BP, they should be a good position to go on their own adventures.

Yeah I grabbed all the PDFs from DriveThru last week. With them and listening to the Actual plays I should be OK hopefully.

Hey everyone!

I'm Michael, I'm 24 and live in San Francisco. I've been listening to RPPR for around 3 years or so now and I love it.

I DM and PC, and my friends and I are currently attempting to make our own homebrews without striding into heart breaker country. I'm currently doing freelance illustration to try and get enough currency rectangles to get accreditation in scientific illustration or pursue my masters in entomology.

I love playing table tops and I like making up weird worlds for people to explore.

Hey all.  I'm Chris.  Long time creeper, first time poster.

Grad School: Nope. 2 irrelevant ATA's, and working towards a BA at the moment

Cats: Wife claims to be allergic to cats, so no.

Beer: 4 years in the Navy and currently a chef... I beer alot.

My experience in gaming has been mostly video games until about 4 years ago.  Started playing NWod then spread out a bit from there.  I typically play a low key PC until my character develops a personality through group interactions.  Which means I usually end up a paranoid sociopath in World of Darkness and a multiclassed healer in everything else.

Greetings, all! Long time listener and lurker, finally got around to making a forum account. My name is Derek, and I've been an avid RPPR listener for a few years now, since around the start of Know Evil, which inspired me to run an Eclipse Phase campaign for my group that lasted over two years, and I have pretty much been a fan ever since.

In real life, I'm 33, work as a toolmaker, and have been a lifelong gamer, mainly of roleplaying games, having recieved my first set of polyhedral dice in the third grade. I am currently running Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition for my group, which is a pleasant nostalgia trip, as I haven't done anything D&D since getting burned out on 3.5 many, many years ago.

I usually avoid forums, in general, as most of them are wretched hives of scum and villiany, but the RPPR community is really great, and listening to the podcast has given me many new ideas on how to run better games, and tell better stories.

Hello all, I'm TRNSHMN (read that as you will, interpretations vary), 25, from Hungary and thus I'll leave my name redacted since chances are no one'll be able to pronounce it. Been listening since April or so and have pretty much devoured about 60-70% of APs from RRPR since. It's been a fantastic ride and helped get my enthusiasm for RPGs back after a few years of pretty mixed-to-unfortunate online RP history. Been occasionally commenting on APs and podcasts for a while and pontificating at the drop of a hat about shit nobody cares about so I figured why not come over here as well.

Currently in my final year of a Psych BA after a too-late-aborted attempt at an MBA. Also no cats, like 'em but always been in a one dog family, fine with beer but not a habitual consumer so somewhat deviating from the platonic ideal of the RPPR listener. Big on horror and sci-fi, currently big on rules light systems after a few years of being a crunch fanatic, occasionally GM for a small group of weird and clever friends on IRC who are better roleplayers than I'll probably be in ten years.

Might try and see if I can't bounce some things off of people around here for an overly ambitious game I'm planning, since ya'all seem pretty cool.

Do have to mention though, have not seen a forum post requiring three layers of verification, especially math-related ones.

Hi, I'm Lonnie. Call me whatever. 45. The rest really doesn't matter.

The gaming started at age 12, playing D&D right about the time AD&D was the hip new thing. Included in part one was a lot of Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Twilight:2000, Traveller, and eventually Marvel Super Heroes. Then came a brief interregnum of about 20 years where I was kept in a dungeon called 'real life'. Escape brought me here after further adventures in stuff like the ST:TNG game and Amazing Adventures. Found RPPR looking for AP's of a game I picked up blind at GenCon called Eclipse Phase....and, well, now you know the rest of the story.

I have tough standards for forum verification because I hate spambots and I am lazy. I don't want to spend time filtering out spambots so every time one bot makes it through registration, I change the questions. Easier to do that than to keep weeding out spambots.

RPPR basically got me through high school and introduced me to 90% of the role-playing games I play with my friends.  I haven't had a chance to play many tabletop games but I've been collecting the stranger indie videogames like Darkwood and Sunless Sea.  I'm surrounded by aborted projects and half-written works, but I'm currently working on a world-building exercise of mine.

Sorry if this post is terrible, I haven't really been on any forums before.

I jumped right into commenting on the forums and failed to do the polite thing of giving an introduction.

My alias for the moment is Zeke Squareman and I am in my mid 30s.  I live in NY, a couple hours north of NYC, and I am an amateur author, independent computer game developer, phone app designer, screenplay writer, actor/model.  Professionally, I work in a field related to providing emergency services; I work the 2nd shift so I usually have a fair amount of free time to screw around on the internet or play videogames, which are my passion.

I am an unapologetic proponent of free speech, transhumanism, and whatever you want to call the movement to view videogames (at least some of them) as art.

Politically I consider myself a radical accelerationist, socially I am an optimistic cynic, personally I am one of the happiest people I know, emotionally I am recovering, financially I am irresponsible, existentially I am solipsistic.

RPPR has helped me through some very rough patches in my life by providing hour upon hour upon hour of engaging and fun material for me to enjoy while working at one of the worst jobs ever.  I now listen as a fan instead of out of necessity.

My favorite two one off adventures are Bryson Springs (which I briefly considered novelizing because it is a truly amazing experience, Aaron's actions alone are worth documenting) and He Calls Me By the Thunder.  My favorite campaign is a tie between New World (though I could never sit through the 4 hours of dice rolls that consummate the 'climax') and Know Evil.

My schedule precludes actually playing tabletop RPGs but were I capable I enjoy weird, smaller systems like Abandon All Hope or Paranoia and larger, more popular systems like DnD 3.5/maybe 5th(?), Dark Heresy, and Rifts.  Unfortunately when I do game I usually have to GM.

I love videogames.  I grew up with a PC instead of a console so my vidya upbringing is different than most my age.  My favorite games are Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss, the original 1993 XCOM, Planescape: Torment, Homeworld, and Bioshock.  I am currently playing MGSV, Lego Lord of the Rings (DONT JUDGE ME), Dungeonmans, Runestone Keeper, Infinite Space 3, Out There: Omega Edition, Sundogs, Tormentum, and Spirits of Xanadu.

As the length of this introduction should indicate, I was not kidding about the amount of free time I have.

I've been collecting the stranger indie videogames like Darkwood and Sunless Sea.

Sunless Sea is amazing, if you enjoy that I really recommend the same dev's web game in the same setting, Fallen London.  As for Darkwood, I abstain from survival games until they're finished (I have something like 12 Early Access survival games right now and three times that in general) but it does look interesting, I may have to break my own rules.  Have you tried Noct (also Early Access http://store.steampowered.com/app/330570/ (http://store.steampowered.com/app/330570/) )  or Teleglitch ( finished http://store.steampowered.com/app/234390/ (http://store.steampowered.com/app/234390/) )?  They appear to have similar gameplay, though Noct appears to be scarier.  I have a couple hours put into Teleglitch but it kicked my ass pretty hard.

It's always good to learn I'm not alone in my devotion to weird indie games.

Hi Everybody! I'm Will.
I've been listening to RPPR for a long time, active on Facebook and following the crew on Twitter. I posted once or twice on the forums ages ago. Decided I should start being more active here. The community is really awesome and I think making friends and connections would be worthwhile. I am an educator, like a few of the RPPR crew and from the Midwest, Twin Cities in my case.

The show and community have been a pretty big inspiration for me in this hobby. I ran my first con game last year and am writing my own scenarios and campaign books and join an actual play podcast too. If you are interested check me and my compatriots out at lithmage.com. Any comments or suggestions would be welcome. We have over 60 episodes and haven't missed a post yet. So I'm interested in publishing and anybody who is willing to critique and look at my work.

Hope to get to know some names and faces better that i've seen here and on Facebook a lot more.

Forgot to mention my games. I play a lot of Fate. I love Dresden Files! I ran a game fate game last summer that was Goonies meets Lovecraftian horrors. It was kind of amazing. I play dnd in all its iterations though I favor 4th and 5th, and OSR games over the labyrinth that is Pathfinder and 3rd. I even look back on when i played WoD a few times... and shudder. I played One Palladium super hero campaign. And I hated it. It was gonzo bananas but it was so broken as shit it was ridiculous. Never. Again.

My favorite though has gotta be Eclipse Phase. I loved it from Know Evil, still my favorite RPPR campaign, though there are several close seconds. I even ran an original one-shot at a con. And it was my first con game. it was kind of amazing!

I have not played as much CoC or DG as I would like. There are so many games I have been unable to play. Hopefully that changes in the future. My gaming groups tends to play... long, long campaigns. I find myself preferring more and more the short campaign or the one/two shot game. Which is what I love so much about RPPR.

I may have done this introduction before, I can't remember. I guess it was Schroedinger's forum post?

Hi I'm Raymond. I've been listening to RPPR since like late 2013 I think. Originally found them while looking for Eclipse Phase demos. Know Evil was only the second AP stuff I ever listened to, the first being Acquisitions Incorporated.

RPPR has grown to be a pretty important part of my life and in 2014 I started running my own AP podcast, [insert quest here].

Eclipse Phase is my favourite RPG by far, though it's not my first. My RPG life kicked off in 2010 with Pathfinder, and then Vampire: Requiem(NWoD). I've even run a fantasy campaign of NWoD.

Telling good stories, and getting to use my acting skills are what I love about role playing.

Hi, I'm Ben, a fellow Missourian and soon-to-be college graduate.  I got into RPPR in 2013 because I wanted to listen to some Eclipse Phase APs and I've been a fan ever since.  It has been really important in expanding my RPG horizons beyond Pathfinder and they've introduced me to the wonders of Call of Cthulhu, GUMSHOE, and Unknown Armies.

Hi Ben, are you that dude I met at Fear the Con last year, and played Dungeon Crawl Classics with that one time in Columbia?

If so, hi!

If not, hi!

Hello all, its Ozgur from Turkey. I have heard of Rppr because of Delta Green and now having enormous amounts of fun and laughter while listening to actual play podcasts. It is true other passengers in the commuter bus often look at me like I am hearing the voices but I don't care. I am fine. The RPPR main podcast is something I am still regretful for not knowing before.

So yeah, hi. Thanks for everything.

Hi y'all, I joined this forum because I backed the Red Markets Kickstarter and got into the Podcasts that RPPR puts out, they are fun and make nice company on drives and walks.

I am hoping to post some jobs and content I have created for Red Markets later, but I am unsure if there is a thread for getting feedback on that yet.

I should probably check out the Google+ and Facebook stuff too. How is everyone?

Super cool, Bystander! Glad to meed you. There's a lot of action on Facebook and Google+ right now, but on these forums you should check out these threads:

When the Lifelines dedicated website eventually goes up, I'm going to work on consolidating everything that's been written so far and porting it over there.

 • Red Markets Inspiration (http://slangdesign.com/forums/index.php/topic,1946.0.html)

 • Hacking Red Market question. (http://slangdesign.com/forums/index.php/topic,1965.0.html)

Cool. I will try and check the others out, but I tend to stay away from social media and the like. Probably need to set up a buffer Facebook account or something. Lol.

So, hmm, I guess I should post my job and encounter stuff in the Inspiration thread then?

What's your suggestion?

Hello, my name is Steven, I am from the Greater Toronto Area. I have been listening to RPPR for years but have only ever lurked on the forums until now. I signed up in part because I badly want to put together a group to play Red Markets and figured I might find some folk here.  :D

Would posting in the RPG section be appropriate?

You might as well! There's also the Red Markets Facebook group, and also Google+ and Reddit. Any of those places might be good places to see if there's an online group you could join or create.

And welcome!

Hi, Nick! Welcome! Call of Cthulhu is my favorite game (except for Red Markets), and I'd love to play Night's Black Agents sometime, if I ever get the chance.

I really enjoy Night's Black Agents. I GM for a very finicky group of players who originally had only played FATE and balked at the D100 system for CoC 5th Ed. We finally settled for NBA after I listened to Tribes of Tokyo and fell in love with the system. I really recommend it to both play and run, it's combat crunchiness coupled with a really engaging system for players to add to the narrative (Contacts as major characters so it feels like the players are creating their own personalized espionage network, etc.). However, I really enjoy a good old fashioned game of CoC.

Hello forum goers, my name is Mathieu and I've been frequenting RPPR for a while now, even if I've only been lurking on these forums. Originally found RPPR a few years back while looking for examples of play for Call of Cthulhu in middle school and it's been my go to RPG related podcast ever since. Now that I have a proper account I hope to be able to participate more in the RPPR community.
