RPGs / Re: Call of Cthulhu- Need some help
« on: May 20, 2009, 08:34:18 PM »
Well that ship moving idea reminds me of The Thing, in a good way. Curwin could move the ship, or be disguising the wreckage with a natural disaster- or possibly he could be cannibalizing the machines around town for repairs or w/e. (I'm not so familiar with the motives of the Traveler)

But (i'm thinking) what clues are the going to find, it looks like you have plenty of room for them to find physical evidence (dead bodies, broken things, people-who-arent-there-anymore, etc).

but what if one or more of the players wants to find archival clues to aid in the way to defeat the traveler? will there be a mythos Sage? or past instances of supernatural goings on in the area?

Hope this helps.

The warrants are all part of my plan to shanghai Mr. Church into running old WoD games for me. I've got a man on the inside, Officer Chris Gerard (part of the k-9 division).

Anyhow...

Yeah thanks to RPPR i went and dropped the dough for the CoC core book. But strangely my players seem interested in horror gaming (who knew?). I'm going to test out some horror gaming "101 bullshit" and report back later.

Did you know a pixie with a vortal sword, sized down for it, still beheads on a critical?

of course, you've seen those animes where the character with the big sword cuts through an even bigger monster with one slice. same concept. that and its bulstered by pixie power, only thing that can trump pixie power is flux capacitor.

Coat hanger?

Yes. I too discoverd first my love of padcasts, and then my love for the denizens of Springfield MO.
It is a fantasy, one which keeps my dreams alive, to someday discover a coven of gamers which act with the same responsibility and urgency to events at the table.

Oh yeah and if I could kidnap Tom and make him run action scenarios for me I would.

I just rewatched (for like the twentyninth time) Stand By Me, and to think that Gordon Lachance plays DnD, well it justifies my obsession with both 50's music and rolling 18s.
I'll never watch Stand By Me without thinking of Wil rolling saving throws against leeches again.

I guess my previous response to why I gave was real generalized and full of vague vagaries.
Because after about three weeks of my (well previously my) DnD campaign not getting played, I discovered that I game because in a game well you can do anything that you fucking want, and get the experience (points) of doing said thing without having or being able to do it.

For instance I can't really touch a doorframe and suddenly have visions of the forty billion other fucknuts who have touched the same doorframe. And I can't shoot lazers out of my eyes irl either. Although immersion is real important to me as a gamer, I kind of abstain from LARPing but I that hasn't stopped me from bringing in awesome props for my sessions, like Flagos to drink beer from or amulets that I make from belt buckles I get off ebay.

Oh yeah and i love wizards and fairy bullshit.

I started gaming because family game night during my formative years revolved around Hero Quest.
And then I got interested in online roleplay- which then directly linked to paper and dice games consequently I found myself back where I started.

Now I game to bullshit, do wizardy things, hang out with friends, and also so I always have wild stories to tell folks on the street.
