Sweet, tickets on my wishlist.

What are the meet up plans this year? I don't see an event for it this time around, just the live episode.

Hello everyone! Annual GenCon planning thread is a bit late this time around in large part because I went through a round about way to get my housing this year and wasn't as focused on stuff. But, now that the rush for housing has ended the time for more detailed organization begins!

I fully support this. Give me sometime to dream some up.

After seven years we're finally official. Hurrah!

Nicely done. I'll make sure to include some 10s when I bring more money units to GenCon this year.

Also the Arab Spring. Current day Egypt in particular is an ongoing experiment with returning order to a disjointed system and the problems that can quickly build up if the wrong people are in charge.

That would work pretty easily actually. They have a universal currency for the wastelands and you can do small modifications to the casualty systems to represent large groups of monsters.

There's plenty of documentaries about the start of early Civilizations to get some real world material to work with. I'd focus on some modern resources since it'd be a fantasy game rather than real-life. Look at guides for starting and running Kickstarters, podcasts, or YouTube channels for some modern interpretations of how to start and build a following.

How many generic tickets to buy depends entirely on one thing: Do you plan to try and get into events you did not book ahead of time?

If you don't plan to try and walk into events and games than you flat out do not need generic tickets.

My first year I bought about twenty dollars worth and used 4 dollars worth. I haven't bought any generics at all since my second year. Additionally, I believe generics can actually be purchased on site in the event you change your mind.

As a rule; I think that six generics (12 dollars worth) would do you fairly well. That let's you squeeze into three normal games or two above average games. If you want to look into more complex things like classes or workshops (which usually run in the $8 to $16 dollar range) than push it up to $20 dollars worthy, ten tickets.

Nah man, I watched The Flintstones. They use clams as currency in the stone age.

A GM screen and pre-made jobs are the only things I'd seriously consider spending for as a Kickstarter rewards.

I demand to hear Aaron's Hispanic accent.

Sadly, despite efforts otherwise, I will be staying at an off-site hotel this year. Draw a time of slightly over an hour so all of the downtown stuff was gone by the time I was able to get into the system.

Yakuza 5. Been elbow deep in it for a few weeks now. It's a brawler RPG with tons of side questing and an interesting main plot. While you'll get more from the game if you've play the others, you can still enjoy this one if you haven't. It's a PS3 download only game and supporting it now makes it more likely Sega will continue to translate the series.
