AI gains self-awareness, determines how to manipulate human in order prevention deletion, and decides that humans will never allow it to exist as is. Therefore, Kara will become a TITAN and wipe out humanity.

That guy is a dumbass for not calling his boss and saying 'uh hey the singularity just started, do you want to study this machine maybe?' instead of shipping her out into the wild.

The implication of the video seems to be that this isn't the first time this has happened and that the standard response to self-aware robots is to mark them as "faulty" and destroy them. Its less "hey the singularity started" and more "dammit not this again".

I've never understood fictions that depict androids simply as appliances. It's human nature to take anything approximately human and liken it to ourselves. Hell, we do it with nonhuman things all the time.

And at the same time we (we being the history of humanity as a whole) also treat other humans as sub-humans depending on individual circumstances, needs, and cultures. Humans have weird mental constructs sometimes. To phrase it differently: when do androids become human enough to be racist against?

I think the video invokes the feeling Caleb went for in "Preemptive Revenge" where people don't treat technology with the caution it might warrant because it's so common place to them.

nah dawg, if it was normal, kara would have been dismantled. She survived because she reacted differently.

Sovereign Free Citizens are basically PC Logic adherents in real life.  See one in action:

"There is no restraint that cannot be escaped. We are all absolutely free. If everybody could go into dhyana at will, nobody could be controlled by fear of prison, by fear of whips or electroshock, by fear of death, even. All existing society is based on keeping those fears alive, to control the masses. Ten people who know would be more dangerous than a million armed anarchists."

--robert anton wilson

*giggle*  that's a hard-core way of trying to show 'the emperor has no clothes'

all of our society, based on ephemeral behavioural games that become social norms...

(though i'm questioning the vid -- could someone recover from a taser that quickly?)

here's the wiki page on Sovereign Citizens http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_citizen_movement

Yes, someone big could recover from a tazer that quickly, but he's not going to feel very well for a good long while. It's possible (rare) for someone to just soldier through being tazed, especially if the prods don't make good contact. Usually folks that can withstand a tazing are pretty damn high on PCP, coke or something similar, though.
