When a psychologist from Dexter Asylum asks for help with some strange automatic writing by one of his patients, several investigators decide they will brave a Nightmare in the Moonlight.

On November 13, I ran the original Call of Cthulhu scenario "Nightmare in the Moonlight" based on J. Chapman Miske's "The Thing in the Moonlight."  The game was part of the continuing Providence campaign set in 1927.

Role Playing Journals for the scenario are here:

It's Christmas and the family is all going to visit Great Aunt Norma in Kingsport.  That doesn't make for a wonderful Christmas for six cousins between the ages of 11 and 13, but maybe Cousin Melba can still save this Christmas.

On December 11, I ran a one-shot Call of Cthulhu scenario "Christmas in Kingsport" by Oscar Rios.  In it, the players take the parts of children at Christmas with a little surprise.

The role playing journals for the game can be found here:

When a man is mauled, his arm ripped off, and a woman goes missing near the North Star Amusement Arcade and Pleasure Pier between Providence and Pawtucket, it proves of interest to those who investigate the strange.  The investigators get together to see if there is something strange going on at the carnival.

On January 22, 2017, I began Dark Carnival by David A. Hargrave from Curse of the Chthonians.  This was part of the regular campaign, taking place in May 1928.

The role playing journals for the game session can be found here:

Our intrepid investigators return to the North Star Amusement Arcade and Pleasure Pier to continue their investigation of two missing people and a mauled man, this time with reinforcements.  They learn only a little about the carnival, but see some strange things.

On Jan. 29, 2017, I ran the second session of Dark Carnival by David A. Hargrave from Curse of the Chthonians.  Part of the regular Providence Campaign, it took place in 1928.

Having failed to find more than strangeness at the North Star Amusement Arcade and Pleasure Pier, our intrepid investigators began to look through Swan Point Cemetery in the hopes it will lead them to the kidnapped child and woman.  They soon find more than they bargained for.

On February 5, 2017, I ran the third session of Dark Carnival by David A. Hargrave from Curse of the Chthonians.  Part of the regular Providence, R.I., campaign, it took place in 1928.

Once more into the breech!  After some planning, some of the investigators head back to the North Star Amusement Arcade and Pleasure Pier, determined to uncover the secrets of the place and put an end to the terrible things happening there.  What they find beneath the carnival, again, is not pleasant.

On February 12, 2017, I ran the fourth session of Dark Carnival by David A. Hargrave from Curse of the Chthonians as part of the regular Providence, R.I. campaign taking place in 1928.

More of the investigators join the group once again and continue their investigation of the dark carnival, this time heading into the nearby city dump, where strange things have happened, before once again entering the crypt of the ghouls to seek out the missing people.

On February 19, 2017, I ran the fifth session of Dark Carnival by David A. Hargrave from Curse of the Chthonians as part of the regular Providence, R.I. campaign taking place in 1928.

With proof of the carnival's misdeeds, Providence Police could finally orchestrate a raid to remove the criminal elements of the place. Allied with the Providence County Sheriff's Department, Pawtucket Police, and the Rhode Island State Police, a daring raid was set for the early morning hours of the very next day.  Several of the investigators who had helped save the two kidnap victims were brought along to advise police, but a force of over 100 men was set to raid the carnival and bring it down.

On February 26, 2017, I ran the sixth and final session of Dark Carnival by David A. Hargrave from Curse of the Chthonians as part of the regular Providence, R.I. campaign taking place in 1928.  Each of the players rolled up an additional Providence Police Officer, Pawtucket Police Officer, and Providence County Sheriff's Deputy to use for the raid.

It's been about a month since the terrible events of the Dark Carnival in Providence, R.I., when Miss Edington gets a visit from a pharmacist trying to sell her a very strange bottle of red wine.

On March 26, I ran a short scenario for my regular Call of Cthulhu group as part of my regular Providence campaign taking place in 1928.  This time it was Circle of Friends from the Minions book.

The role-playing journal of the game session can be found here:

In November 1971, a group of people boarded a Learjet bound for Kansas City, Missouri, for a seminar, having been sent by the company they worked for. Unfortunately, this was no simple flight, but a trip into the unknown that would leave all of them terrified of the Fear Jet.

On April 1, I ran a one-shot Call of Cthulhu scenario for NerdCon 2017 at Appalachian State University.  The premise was a group of people who work together were taking a Learjet to a seminar when something interfered.

The role-playing journals for the game session can be found here:

Additionally, a playlist of six videos of the game session and a short highlights video can be found here:

A couple of players had to leave during the game but were later replaced by two new people who came in so a couple of the characters ended up with two players.

Players were:

Alexander Lawson as Morty Finch (Clerk)
Alexander Rogers as Melvin Bell (Accountant)
Carl Cordini as Darryl Jefferson (Security Guard)
Bay Shuford as Anne Simmons (Switchboard Operator/Receptionist)
George Ekholm and Danielle Brown as Trevor Stevens (Middle Management Businessman)
Ambralyn Tucker and Drake Powell as Denise Thompson (Secretary)

When word comes from a former associate of a strange death in Iowa, a few of the Providence investigators go to see what might have happened.  They are soon met with a village in the grip of terror and a cult.

On April 23, I ran another scenario for my regular Providence campaign taking place in 1928.  This time it was "Dark Harvest" by Kevin A. Ross from Resurrected III: From the Vault.

When Nurse Daughton finds out an esoteric book might be available in Minnesota, she gathers two other people for the trip.  They soon find themselves driving through the wilds of Minnesota ... until their motorcar hits something in the road ...

On April 30, I ran the scenario "Roadkill" from Unspeakable Oath Magazine Issue 12 as part of the regular 1928 campaign of Call of Cthulhu.

It's time for a return to Elizabethan (well, technically Jacobian) London and the Globe Theater.  This time, a stagehand has gone missing from the Globe and his wife demands someone find him.  A small group of stagehand, musician, and actor, along with a local physician and banker go in search of the errant Clancy Bottom, only to find themselves drawn into a strange plot that might see the destruction of the Globe itself, if not of all England.

The role playing journal for the original Elizabethan Call of Cthulhu scenario Supped Full with Horrors can be found here:

It's 1692 and a strange pall hangs over Port Royal, Jamaica.  The primary English colony in the Caribbean is seeing strange times when odd signs appear all over the town.  Something is very wrong and can a few pirates and townsfolk figure it out before it's too late, or is the "the wickedest City on Earth" doomed?
