RPPR Episode 52: Holiday Dash

CONTRIBUTE  TO THE RUINS OF LEMURIA KICKSTARTER TO GET 10 PREVIEW AP EPISODES OR A SEAT A SKYPE GAME RUN BY ROSS PAYTON!

Synopsis: Chase scenes are an underutilized element in many games. A staple of action stories but RPGs focus on social scenes and combat. This is because it’s hard for a GM to make a chase scene actually exciting. Special guest RJ joins us as we discuss ways to make a boring chase scene into an epic one. Tom does not have a letter, but we do have many special holiday shout outs and a few anecdotes.

The ep, along with your A Dirty World AP’s convinced me to pick up A Dirty World. I’m going to try and run a one-shot for my group. It’ll be my first time running a game and I can’t wait! Wish me luck!

That anecdote was mine. So I thought I’d answer some questions that came up.
    1.
Tom got my name right. He might as well have been Icelandic
    2.
I was allowed to play that the undead paladin after he was resurrected.
    3.
That paladin had some ‘interesting’ side effects of having been an undead abomination.
    4.
That GM is an Evil Genius. We, his friends, are afraid of the day that he stops spending his energy on RPGs and decides to take over the world in stead.

In the end, here are my 5c about chase scenes. Evil Hats ‘Spirit of the century’ and now ‘The Dresden Files’ has great transferable rule for Chase scenes.

The rule is more or less a game of one-up-man-ship.
    Example
X Chases Z. X does something crazy to get away. If Z can not do at least something as crazy, X gets one step away. Works the same way for Z. Z does something crazy to get closer to X. If X can’t match the move Z gets closer.
There is more to the rules, but that’s the gist of it.
