I hope the game isn't even really like a movie. I hope it's a two hour long action movie trailer: nothing really happens, nothing is explained, and lots of things blow up.

Man I'd love to get into this game.  Please make an actual play of this soon!!

I ordered the X-mas bundle myself about a month ago.  I got the Rifts Ultimate Edition, an adventure sourcebook, the Coalition War Campaign book, and a copy of Rifter 51.  All of them were signed by Siembieda and several of the crew of Palladium.  I gotta say, Palladium's really supportive of their community for offering a deal like that.

Man, Rifts == High School for me. Back in the day that was all we played.

No Cyber-Docs, no City Rats. Nothing but dragons and glitter boys.

I LOVE playing GlitterBoys.

(...if this were in any other forum, that statement would be sooooo gay)

But seriously? I love playing Glitter Boys. Why? Because every time your turn is up you can fire that big-ass damage dealing cannon and whether it be in play or in your mind you can make up your own awesome "ramp up" sequence for how EPIC firing that god damned gun is.

Shit the game itself even goes into detail about how the Glitter Boy's boots fire pylons into the ground to stabilize the armor in place so that the Glitter Boy itself doesn't go flying backwards when the GIGANTIC FUCKING RAIL GUN goes BOOM.
Thanos: "I am going to sacrifice the Earth to gain the love of Death"
Me: (slowly raise eyebrow) "Destroy the Earth? That would be...illogical"
Vortex: "Yes...that...would be...highly...illogical."
Thanos: "Your Star Trek references bore me."

I like to think that everyone at the table contemplated suicide at some point during the game.

I think if you channelled Heavy Metal magazine with it's weird environs, buxom hunnies and wacked-out, alien weirdness, rather than the typical Rift fanboy cliche', you could have a truly epic, non-ridiculous game.  Heavy Metal Magazine  Just look at some of these covers...plenty of killer Rift ideas!

I've only played Rifts once, I do own the main book, but have yet to play or run it. But if I did...it'd be something right out of a Heavy Metal mag...complete with soundtrack...(Black Sabbath:Mob Rules!! Helll anything RJD)
The Mob Rules

Neon Knights

The idea of running a Glitter Boy never occured to me. Seems kinda boring, totally lacking in any interesting roleplay potential (unless blowing the crap out of stuff is your version of roleplay).

Something more exotic or esoteric would suit my tastes more...something psi, mutant or maybe wizardly on the run and/or seeking knowledge.

Or for that matter maybe a Robocop-ish, haunted borg with the soul of a man, theme.

I think it's up to the players...Rifts doesn't have to always devolve into a mega-damage, death orgy. Rifts can have a soul....just look past the cliche'.

He is. His pants have MD armor and mega-cockels, descibe the name, are SD.

After listening to the AP I have an idea for a movie where a guy wakes up naked and bloody in the middle of a corn field and has flash backs involving nightmarish visions of horror. As he chases down his past trying to rebuild his memories while perserving his sanity he uncovers a string of mutilated people and mental patients with broken minds leading back to a single, seemingly normal suburban home.

And it turns out he played Rifts.

I listened...and mulled....twas a farce of a Rifts game fer sure. :o
I couldn't help but imagine all the action taking place in the Eliminator setting...except for the raptor punching batman that is. ;D

Anyhoo...thanks Ross for posting it. :)

I'm still semi-curious as to what arrived in the grab bag.  ???

I'm going to order one myself for x-mas. 8)

Someone should have handed Caleb a Snickers.

Seems to me this game was shot down way before it even had a chance to take off due to Caleb's diva complaints throughout the game.

It wasn't the best game, but it had it's moments.  Come on, it's the RPPR crew here.  The ingredients are all there for a good time.  The only reason a game wouldn't go well, is because the players didn't want it to go well.

Thanks for killing Dresden, Ross.  That made my day.  :D
