Superbowl Halftime Show
« on: February 07, 2011, 09:31:04 AM »
Okay was it just me or was the halftime show fucking terrible? The SB party I was at was half 30-somethings and their 50+ parents/family and it was pretty much a shit-talking fest the whole time. Here are a few quips I remember:

"Honey? I...don't think we're the target demographic for this halftime show" - Ian's dad.

"This looks like a pep rally"

"They (Black Eyed Peas) look like the Future Council when Bill and Ted accidentally sent the phonebooth to the future"

"This is probably exactly what some guy in the 1500s thought music from the future would look like"

Also, maybe Ross has feelings on this, but does it look like the Black Eyed Peas are totally ripping off Daft Punk's futuristic image in the same way that Lady GaGa is ripping off everything in Madonna and Bjork's playbooks?
Thanos: "I am going to sacrifice the Earth to gain the love of Death"
Me: (slowly raise eyebrow) "Destroy the Earth? That would be...illogical"
Vortex: "Yes...that...would be...highly...illogical."
Thanos: "Your Star Trek references bore me."

No, yeah, it was pretty much the worst thing I have seen that someone paid many millions of dollars for.

They SHOULDA just hired Daft Punk. Would at least have been good.

That was the best half-time show I've seen in years. I laughed myself stupid.

What's her name's mike wasn't on when they started, they spelled LOI`E in giant letter, and none of them sounded like they were even really trying to be on beat or in rythm.

Best event comedy at a football game ever.

So the biggest complaint I guess I would have was it just felt sloppy.  I mean when high school marching bands do a cleaner job at high school football games, essentially for free, I don't know.  I'm not really a fan of Black-Eyed Peas, but their recordings sound WAY better than they did then...

The important thing is that it had Slash wearing a rhinestone top hat.

But yeah, they had to do a lot to distract you from the Black-Eyed Peas lack of stage presence.

Honestly I don't have anything to complain about the halftime show. It's really the least disturbing element of the event. Just look at the news regarding the extra seating, or the Dallas representative claims about filling the whole place, or the ice destroying section of the building. Frankly compared to some of the other things going on, that the halftime show even happened is pretty impressive.

Oh, well, since going to college, I have had basically no knowledge up of the Superbowl (I didn't even know when it was this year until Thursday, much less who was playing or where).  Suffice it to say I did not watch it and the only thing I heard from a few friends who were passively watching it was the poorness of the half-time show, then with what was said here I did a quick Google search and got a general consensus about the "bleh" nature of it and watched a Youtube video...

In other words, I really don't care about any of it...

Half my players where out of state or I would've played GURPS. Alan Grant, an immortal, and Pippy Longstocking against Ian Malcom and the Chronos Corporation.

My thought is...meh.  I can't think of any Half Time shows that I really liked.  Its background noise while everyone scrambles for food and booze.

I think I would have rather done that.

Did anyone see the Captain America trailer?

There was a half-time show? I was too busy pounding down snakebites to notice.

HAHAHAHA Awesome! Chris Evans pectoral muscles eh? I thought it was pretty bomb how they put skinny WW2 GI Chris Evans in the BEEFCAKE MACHINE.

I'm really excited about that movie.
