Nice!

Once I was between assignments for about a month and I listened the the "Warlord of Mars" series, also available for free.  It's a 1920s Pulp Sci-Fi series.
From wikipedia

"[John Carter] is mysteriously transported to Mars, called "Barsoom" by its inhabitants. Carter finds that he has great strength on this planet, due to its lesser gravity. Carter soon falls in among the Tharks, a nomadic tribe of the planet's warlike, four-armed, green inhabitants. Thanks to his strength and combat abilities he rises in position in the tribe and earns the respect and eventually the friendship of Tars Tarkas, one of the Thark chiefs."

The best part is John Carter is probably the biggest Mary Sue ever.  We find out the following things about John Carter, literally mere moments before he needs these special skills.  Often he never uses them again.

He can leap high in the air.
He is a master swordsman.
He is a master marksman.
He is a master pilot.
He is a master engineer.
He is a master at sneaking.
He can breathe vacuum.
He is the best at riding giant lizards.
He is telepathic.

Yep.  A little detail about being telepathic.
