You just have the bracketed notation wrong, the reason that I prefer invisible castle is that you can put your character name in front of everything, and as a GM I can go and look at every roll you've made...etc. and so can you if i'm rolling for you. It's persistent and trusted. It's a great site.

I hadn't actually tried it out.  didnt seem to work.

[roll]1d6-2[/roll]
[roll]4d6-8[/roll]

<roll>1d6-2</roll>
<roll>4d6-8</roll>

<roll>1d3-2</roll>

<roll>4d3-8</roll>

Rolling 1d6-2:
(2)-2: Total = 0

Rolling 4d6-8:
(2+1+2+6)-8: Total = 3

Yada yada

Invisible castle looks like the way to go.

I am grabbing the notation from the mod website, maybe the roller is broken?

But I guess what I was trying to say is we could do
 1d3-2 to give -1,0,1
or 4d3 -8 for the whole roll.

I got this from trying invisible castle.

4d3-8 → [3,2,3,2,-8] = (2)

It looks correct ( +1, 0, 0, +1).

or with 4 1d3-2
1d3-2 → [3,-2] = (1)
1d3-2 → [2,-2] = (0)
1d3-2 → [1,-2] = (-1)
1d3-2 → [2,-2] = (0)

I just like the 1D6 idea for each roll. 1,2 = - 3,4 = 0  5,6 = +

I think we should start planning threats, themes and whatnot to the city.

I am to, though it's sucked some of the air out of the room on the other games. I haven't read the section on city creation: what do we need to do as players?

Not sure if RJ is doing the city creation by himself, or if he wants to let us chime in (HINT HINT)

I'm pretty sure none of us will suggest anything like, "Kraken with hot flashes needing to find a woman so he can bear her child"

I'm bringing you guys in on it, just not yet. I need to post and separate and organize a lot of demographic information and maps and stories and such, and once that is in place...we can start working on the threats and such.

Oh, and I'll very much be getting to victory force soon, and working on my changeling for your game, but this is kind of....taken on a life of it's own.

It's because this really is a team RP. I mean, character creation includes other players, city creation includes other players. This entire RP is all around people working with one another. It's so refreshing to see.
