Collective Nouns in RPG's
« on: September 28, 2010, 12:07:37 PM »
Collective Nouns are an interesting thing, not really all that well established in RPG source books, but fun none the less.

So let's come up with some good one's for use in games, whether they are funny or not.

Google gave me these two:
Harem of Sex Robots
Promenade of Bugbear

I have been listening the NWG(New World Gaiden) and it led me think of
A Steampot of Chuul

Anyone have any good collective nouns they'd like to share?

(I know weird topic right?)

Don't listen to Ross. He was annoyed when I referred to groups of dwarves as herds.

Dwarves don't come in herds, they come in jumbles.

I figured it would something like a hive or complex of dwarves.

A mountain of dwarves, perhaps?

I should have written this up as an anecdote long ago, but this is how the conversation came about. It was during an epic game and our party had decided to build a giant homunculus (I have no idea why now but we did) and turn it into a golem. Someone had the magical ability to make it come to life, but none of us had the crafting skills. So I turn to Ross and ask if I could hire some dwarves to build it. Ross says sure how many. And so I respond a herd, which gave everyone a good laugh. So Ross let me hire the rowdiest tribe of drunken hillbilly dwarves ever, although they were damn good craftsmen. I forget what the tribe's name was but it was a running joke at the table for more than a year after.

When Toady eventually allows buildings to be made out of kitten corpses DF will finally be halfway complete.
