Since it was brought up in the latest episode, I figured a chase thread would be a good idea. So, props, tricks, anything you've done right or wrong with your chase scenes.
I try to use them fairly often and nearly always hit the problem of players saying they don't understand the distances or the positions of the chase. My current plan, for the next modern day chase scene, is to get a hotwheels car and slowly roll it across the table, representing the time they have before they must make a choice. I'll keep my box of wooden objects and shapes nearby to toss out onto the table and give them a more clear picture of the general shape of things around him.
I might also use a second little car if they are being chased, to show just how far apart, and on which side of what, those involved in the chase are.

In my mind, this is the best chase scene ever.

Maybe just because its been hyped up alot and I've never actually seen the movie so dont know/care whats going on, but that was almost as boring as the car chase in Mitchell.

I don't actually have access to youtube at the moment but the original Gone in Sixty Seconds bears mention here, as does Smokey and the Bandit and The Blues Brothers.

You might want to watch it a few times. The reason its so good, is because everything clicks. Its a work of art. Its all in the details. The music is prefect. The sounds of the cars (mustang and charger). The pacing. The camera work.
The shot of the mustang in the charger's rear view mirror is great. The hit man buckling his seat belt.
Yeah its low key. Its good because it seems real. A lot of other chase scenes on this list are just special effect fantasies and that's fine, but Bullet is the fundamentals of a good chase scene.

This thread needs more tanks.

I can't help you if you don't understand or appreciate Bullitt.
The French Connection, people. And there's another Friedkin movie, To Live And Die In L.A. - not my favorite movie by any stretch, but its got a real nice insanity to its chase scene.

Cars, foot, military weave, Al Pacino, and Robert Deniro? What more could you want from a chase scene / shootout scene?

Heat also shows the combo battle/chase scene we talked about in the episode.
-
Also shows that when you kill the driver, the car comes to a stop.
