The date has kind of slipped up on me, but preregistration is this weekend. That is not that important, but the host hotel reservations go online Tuesday the 25th at noon ( eastern ). I believe you have to be registered to book the rooms through the gencon system.
Here are some of the dates. You have to wait until May 1st to register for the RPPR games.
Key Dates (http://www.gencon.com/2011/indy/cs/registration/default.aspx#Dates)
-
Got the Marriott. Wanted the Hyatt. Oh well. You ask somebody else to stay home and do the reservation work for you so you don't miss work and you get what deserve.
Still, on site this year so no need to use a shuttle or car or anything else, I can use the bridges or just walk across the street.
Who else is where?
-
hyatt motherfuckers
8)
-
Damn you Ross. Now I'll have to try and bother you from across the street rather than in the same hotel. Next year.
Can we hope for an RPPR Fan Meet Up 2011 or did you get enough of personal interaction with your fan base last time?
-
of course there will be a rppr meetup
and there will be a better rppr AS MANY PLAYERS AS POSSIBLE game:
Left 4 Killing Team Dead Floor Fortress
:D :D :D
-
Let's see if I can bet my previous record of surviving a game. I made it, what, fifteen, maybe twenty minutes?
I'll have to be sure not to book any games on thursday evening this time.
-
I got the hyatt also. The issues I saw at the hotel registration do not bode well for game registration this year. I was at the Marriott last year and it is nice, but I found out all the cool people stay at the hyatt. Looking forward to killing some fellow PCs this time and avenging Tad's harsh death. ( Really, we thought you just got lost )
-
( Really, we thought you just got lost )
So you blew the building up?!
Did anybody not get the Hyatt? Am I the only RPPR loser attending GenCon this year? I'm not looking forward to event registration much either but at least I'll be able to get ontop of it on time this year, unlike last time.
-
Technically, it was Ross and the "Government" that blew the building up. And I am still not sure you didn't escape and leave us to die ( well, my character isn't sure at least ). You could have told us you had died. I looked all over the place for you before we escaped. I think blame for your death rests in the guy that strangled you with the ethernet cable. If you died at all, I mean.
I believe wil wheaton stayed there last year ( he was hanging out in the lobby at least) ... and the marriott has a really good $20 breakfast buffet. ( I think it was $20, may have been slightly less ) ... and Real Dungeon stuff is there ... and there are views of other buildings ... and ... um ... and you are closer to the convention center.
-
I'll blame everybody! I am a vengeful spirit from beyond the grave, logic and reason are lost upon me. How do I know you all weren't in on it with Moody?

I'm fine with the Marriott. Really I just wanted someplace that I could easily get back to. And someplace that I won't have to get a taxi at 2am to reach (or six blocks of Indianapolis streets to wander after midnight).
-
Hey Ross, what day are we doing the meet up, Thursday evening again? Cus I'm volunteering for Arc Dream events and I have to be able to tell Shane Ivey when I can't run stuff.
-
yeah, Thursday evening.

Tad, I too will be attending. And I'm in the Sheraton. Don't ask me why...
-
That doesn't sound so bad. Granted I never walked that far north when I was there last time but the Sheraton isn't too far away from everything. Got any special features?
The Hyatt has a Subway (and a gift shop with snack stuff too, I think) but the Mariott has a Starbucks. And, being from the Pacific Northwest, I die if I'm not within touching distance of a Starbucks for more than three days. Common knowledge.
-
There is a Starbucks at the Sheraton as well, I guess they didn't know which hotel you'd be staying at.
Other than that.. there seems to be a nice pool and rollaway beds.
Monument Circle Woo!
-
What day are yous peoples arriving?
I'm 5 hours away but I plan on arriving Wednesday around noon.
-
Probably late wednesday, I think. Depends on the drive time and how much sleep we need. Thing about long range travel: you have to get it just right. If I show up earlier than my hotel check in time than I got shit all to do til then.
-
late weds for rppr crew 8)
-
I'm staying at the Embassy Suites because I'm friends with an artist. 8)
I'll be there Wednesday evening.
-
Hey all,
Longtime RPPR listener, but newbie to the forums here...
The lil' lady and I will be at the SpringHill Suites...Can't beat free breakfast, free internet, large rooms, reasonable rates and being right next door to the new JW Marriott where they will be running a lot of games this year...
The main disadvantage: The sweaty-ass walk to the main Con floor and just about any game NOT held in the JW Marriott. I'll be showering twice a day, bringing 3 extra sticks of deodorant and perhaps a 'cologne squirt gun' to help offset that...

Everybody got their wish-lists made?
And yes, I'm peeing my pants because it'll be my first time.
@HPLustcraft Super Welcome to the forums and wot knot.

@HPLustcraft Super Welcome to the forums and wot knot.
Yep! Got my wishlist mostly done...One thing I'd like to know, though:
Are any RPPR people other than Ross going to be running games there? If so, who and what?
Don't pee your pants! Unless you are into that, then pee away!
It's my second Gen Con, and first time with the S.O...So it'll be weird to have definitive proof that there ARE cool female gamers!
L-
-
Looks like Caleb Stokes and Aaron Carsten will also be running games.
Caleb is running *Dirty World: Dangers of Fraternization and Aaron is running some Monsters and Other Childish Things games. Those are the ones I know about.
-
I can't be in Caleb's game because both days he's starting just before I have to run games. I'm going to be very mature about this and make sure that all my players drink far too much and catcall the players at Caleb's table. And I'm going to try for Aaron's game to see if I can hang with any other RPPR fans.
I'll be running eCollapse, one of the Wild Talents alternative settings so if anybody wants to play a hypocritical, unstable, possibly drugged up "super hero" than their welcome to check out "Save your own Hyde".
-
I am down to 35 events on my wish list, but I haven't scoured the event catalog yet. Needless to say there are some conflicts. Would the RPPR meetup be after the DG & The Unspeakable Oath seminar on Thursday night ( 8 - 10 )?
-
Last year we did it more like six or seven and then we all got food before the game. I figured it'd be similar this year.
-
With all the arcdreamers in the crew, I didn't know how many would be going to that. We didn't really get into the gaming until later anyway. Gotta keep Aaron away from that limoncello stuff. It turned him into a homicidal maniac.
I might be able to get into your ecollapse game. Have to see how it all comes together ( or falls apart ) on Sunday.
-

Dammit! I'll be doing a 7-Midnight game on Thursday! :-(
Assuming that one doesn't slip away from me during registration.
In any case, I'm going to try to get into an RPPR Alumni game or two. I will be the bouncer looking guy who is NOT a spontaneous masturbator.
Er, I mean...whose CHARACTER is not a spontaneous masturbator.
L-
-
Welp, I just whiffed on all five games I tried to buy tickets for. I hope y'all are friendly; I'll need people to wander around aimlessly with.
My games had yet to sell out as of a few seconds ago. Quick! Sell them out! Go now!
-
Aaron's game is sold out but I got a ticket. Ha! Also got into one of the Eclipse Phase games I wanted so I'm 66% on my list.
As long as you don't mind hanging out with big guys in hawaiian shirts I'll be happy to wander around with ya Caleb. What where you trying to get into?
-
I did pretty good on the registration. I got 4 MUSkulls CoC games, Cthulhu Open, Item 525 CoC with pagan pub, Eclipse phase and DRYH. Looks like massive sanity loss is in store.
I think i may have an extra ticket to the Friday night CoC LARP, Delirium 701. They changed it to a LARP because it got too rowdy last year for a normal game. We had 3 tables and drove other games out of the room. I will probably bail on the DRYH as that is late on Thursday night and would interfere with the RPPR meetup.
-
Man, both of my games only have three booked players between them. I am not as internet famous as I'd hoped.
-
Managed to grab the last ticket for Caleb's Saturday game.
edit: Man, you oversleep for an hour and EVERYTHING is sold out. every CoC game I've looked has no open tickets.
-
Tad, a friend just grabbed a friday ticket for you game.
There are still 3 tickets available for the Delirium 701 ( RPG1123582 ) game friday night. I also saw some tickets for an Esoterrorists game ( RPG1120435 ).
-
The more the merrier!
Esoterrorist, damn I forgot about that. Be right back!
EDIT: Damn it, 1pm on friday. That's right after I start my game.
-
You know every time that happens there is someone at gencon laughing a small evil laugh. They like scheduling all of the games you want at the same time.
-
You know every time that happens there is someone at gencon laughing a small evil laugh. They like scheduling all of the games you want at the same time.
It's worse than that: I asked Shane Ivey for the 12pm time slot because I didn't want to have to get up early if I accidentally stayed up until 4 or 5 the day before. It's my own damn fault.
Oh well, I'll just have to bring a load of my own games, I can grab random RPPR fans I run into and make them play with me.
-
I got into Aaron's 6pm Saturday game. Trying to get into the Esoterrorists game ristarr posted above but the registration system is hanging so I don't know if I'm in yet.
edit: made it into the esoterrorists game. anyone else?
edit 2: tadanori, what's your game info buddy?
-
The Legacy of NIMH
Monsters and Other Childish Things, 2nd Edition
Saturday 10:00 AM
2 tickets left on that one as of now
-

Ahhhh, man, that sounds so cool.
-
The Love of Money! Woo!
I got the games that I want, pretty much.
-
I would just like to say that, just like last year, I hate all of you. :)
-
edit 2: tadanori, what's your game info buddy?
RPG1123580. Tickets going fast, the Saturday game is sold out. Apparently ArcDream has enough street cred to make up for my lack!
-
Arc Dream games usually sell out quick because Arc Dream is quality games 8)

Aw man, I signed up for an Esoterrorists game that overlaps. :/

Yeah. If it didn't I'd be in the Esoterrorists game with you.

Ugh...I was using someone's laptop to submit my wishlist, only to find out it would not submit on that computer! I switched to another one, only for it to be too late for most of the Call of Cthulhu and 40K RPGs...Shit.
However, I DID get the following:
RPG1123562 - The Dangers of Fraternization on Fri at 10:00 AM (Caleb's game)
RPG1123582 - eCollapse: Save Your Own Hyde on Sat at 12:00 PM (both my girlfriend and I snagged that one)
RPG1119290 - Fredric Wertham's Revenge: Doc Savage and the Shadow's Sunlight on Fri at 09:00 PM (at least I got ONE CoC game)
RPG1123887 - CASE GOBLIN WILLOW (The Laundry (BRP), 1st Edition) Thu at 12:00 PM (possibly, thinking about trying generics for Road Trip_
RPG1124191 - Drunken D&D - Casino Knights on Sat at 06:00 PM (anyone here done this before?)
And that's about it...Any more will have to depend on the kindness (and laziness) of strangers...
L-
PS - Now that I don't have the game I was trying for Thursday night, I might be able to make the RPPR fan meetup! When and where?
-
I posted a playtest of my Wild Talents scenario on the AP podcast but I wouldn't worry about getting spoiled. It's a sandbox scenario where things can turn out very differently depending on the choices you make soooo yeah
plus jason is a dick

Sllllowwwwly downloading it right now!
Unfortunately, I didn't get into that game, so it may be my only exposure...:-(
By the way, have you figured out the where/when/what of the RPPR game you mentioned running on Thursday?
L-
-
If Tom is coming you should make him run something. RANSOM!
-
I've dedicated myself to carrying far fewer bags this time around, made easier by the proximity of my hotel room this time.
-

I've been dying to try out my M-51 engineer's bag. Its been through a trial run at the MAEDC, but it needs to feed.
-

It's the manliest purse I own.
Probably gonna stick with my backpack for GenCon, though.
-
Hopefully I can leave my spare bags at the room and just make due with my big shoulder bag rather than a backpack. I figure I'll spread my book purchases out over time so I'm not breaking my spine all day. Plus I can run back to the room after a day of purchasing to dump everything before I have to meet everybody thursday.
-
I will probaby be a general purpose Pack Animal for both my and my woman's loot.
Like usual.
L-
-
Its coming closer. WHAT SHALL WE DO ABOUT IT?
I'm moving and buying a camelbak.
-
I've bought new shoes, which I am breaking in, for the massive walking I must do. Also new pants for the massive sweating I shall do (and new anti-sweating compounds which I must test upon myself).
Oh. And a new hawaiian shirt. I will be by far the more hawaiian man this year.
-
What type of pant? Gramiccis?
I've got my vacation shorts and my brown pants ready.
I've got plenty of GoldBond as well, so if you run out I've got your back. Or feet, or whatever needs goldbonding.
-
I've got plenty of GoldBond as well, so if you run out I've got your back. Or feet, or whatever needs goldbonding.
Kinda riding the line between helpful and fuckin' creepy there, dude.
I'll have a pair or two of jeans and some long legged shorts. And some sandals, which I will wear with socks because I'm from the Pacific Northwest.
-
I need to get some Hawaiian shirts also. I felt out of place when Tad was around. My group is still deciding drive vs. fly. We have some that have to drive cuz they are selling art, so may make a big road trip out of it.
-
My plan is to lurk in my house and radiate jealousy-waves in a generally West direction.
Also, heads-up to Ean: I was unable to kill Tad with a scattered bolt round, you may want to bring something heavier than CAT-5 this year.
-
As long as Ross lets me keep the ceramite armor and redundant organs in whatever we play, I'm confident in my survival.
Are we gonna have to seperate games this year for the RPPR Meet Up? Last year we filled the table to capacity and I think we have even more folks coming this time around.
-
The time is drawing nigh. Is anyone interested in getting together Wednesday night? Maybe for a Battlestar Galatica board game or a CoC game? Not sure how many people are going to be getting there early.
-
I'll be around Wednesday night, maybe. It depends when I get into the city but I should be around five or six... I think.
-
I might be down for that; Planning on rolling in on Wednesday night.
-
Crap, is it July already? I should probably write that adventure I'm supposed to run since the tickets are preordered and junk. Technically I'm on the hook for the money now I guess...
About wednesday. Call of Cthulhu would be awesome if someone has a scenario ready. I've got an Eclipse Phase scenario ready to try out too.
-
Just to reiterate: fuck all ya'll.
I second that.
-
Has anyone read/played John Wick's Curse of the Yellow Sign part 1 CoC scenario? I have been wanting to run that for awhile. It really needs 5-6 players. If we can get enough players Wednesday night, I can run that. I can probably get a couple of the Atlanta people going to play.
All the PCs are evil vicious nazis ( evil and vicious even for nazis ) on a secret mission digging for something in 1939 Africa. It is a scenario based on player interaction. It is not quite PvP, but there are a lot of potential character conflicts.
-
I'm up for it.
-
Sneak peek of the character choices for anybody in my Save Your Own Hyde Wild Talents (Ecolapse setting) game.
We have:
- Arthropod Justice
- Michigan Avenger
- The Buzzard
- Non-Alco-Hero
- The Human Roach
- Free Marketeer
- The Twisted Twilight Timebomber
- Reverse Switch Blade
-
That's a pretty good idea Tad. For anybody playing in my A Dirty World game "The Dangers of Fraternization," here are the character options:
--A german bouncer
--A german Kabarett owner (female)
--An American MP SGT. (WWII beat cop kinda)
--An American MP LT. (more of a desk jockey
--A young Soviet Junior Sgt.
--A less-young Soviet Commissar
-
--A less-young Soviet Commissar
Probably a good thing I'm not playing in this game, I'd try to play this like a Warhammer 40K commissar. Probably wouldn't work as well in Dirty World... or maybe it might.
-

You should ask Ross about the last time I played a Soviet Commissar in a DG game...
-
Hey Ross, what happened the last time Patrick played a Soviet Commissar in a Delta Green game?
-
Hey Ross, what happened the last time Patrick played a Soviet Commissar in a Delta Green game?
I, too, would like to know.
-
It wasn't DG - it was standard CoC. I remember a TPK because they wouldn't trust each other when the mythos nastiness started showing up...

From the outset, my character's philosophy was "there is nothing supernatural in Mother Russia." His goal was to impress Party bosses by getting the factory back in working order. Every time he found a document or other evidence that suggested something supernatural was going on, he locked it in his office, which he had guarded at all times under the threat of death.
-
That's pretty good. I was hoping for something completely insane like "shivved other PC with an icicle when they tried to run from the monster".
-

I'm pretty sure I killed at least a few "traitors" before the Colour showed up.
-
Was this the machine tractor station scenario? I've read it, but haven't played/GMd it.
-

Yes, that was the scenario. It was an interesting game because it was just Karee and I because Jason flaked out. I always wanted to play the scenario again as the same character just to see how long it would be until the party turned on me.
-
what is a gencon
-
what is a gencon
It's where all the cool kids go to hang out.
So, what's this I hear about a RPPR game/meet-up?
-
We meet up on Thursday night and have a crazy nerd fest. Last year we went out to eat together then played some Call of Cthulhu.
Laughs where had, stories where shared, vendettas against certain talented artists where formed. Good times.
Last year we met in the "bar" of the Embassy Suites.
-
The "Michigan Avenger" sounds like a real winner. Too bad I'm not in that game.
I'm in Caleb's though! Now if only I knew how to do russian or german accents. :/
-
Depending on how sick I am of it after running to for money I might try running it off the books if people want to play it.
-
I'm so down for a meetup. Dragging some of my group members to it as well.. I mean they are part of the Community Podcast.
Thursday night indeed then. Is there a dress code? God forbid I appear in my street clothes when everyone else has their Sunday best on.
And as for characters in Caleb or Ross' games, I want the most ineffectual.
-
If your a big bad ass like me and Aaron then you are required to wear a hawaiian shirt. Otherwise nothing that shows off body parts nerds shouldn't show off and I think we'll all be cool.
Of course, this is Ross and Tom's party so maybe they'll want to make us all do something "different".
-
Berets and greaves for EVERYONE.
-
Berets and greaves for EVERYONE.
i read this and for a second I thought read breasts and grease for EVERYONE.
just a little Cody Walker moment i guess.
-
i shall wear my very best larp costume to this congregation
i am a level 5 ice mage
-
You don't hear about ice mages as much.
Luckily my "costume" this year will not include three major bags of swag like it did last year. I'll be free to move about as I see fit!
-
I guess I'll wear my GM uniform, with vacation shorts and bubblegum sandals.
I am still peeing all of my pants in anticipation.
-
I would do the same but my "uniform" has been so used over the last year (I basically tripled the number of games I run since last August) that it is not longer decent to behold. I'll need to create a fitting replacement.
-
Got my new shoes, my shorts, my hawaiian shit, my t-shirts, and my player killing GM dice. Ready to roll!
I'm hitting the road on monday, I think this is going to be the last year I drive to GenCon, driving six days round trip is alot on a dude.
So, yeah, after sunday I will be off of the forums til I get to the hotel, at which point I will see all of you (by which I mean the cool people who will be at GenCon) for some gaming.
-
Oh that reminds me: Tom is going to run the Wild Talents Zombie game so I can attend the Ennies. I should be there when they announce that Pathfinder wins best adventure :D
-
You need to take along a cigarette and some wine and talk loudly about how the awards are meaningless.
Oh, better yet, since Targets got nominated you, Scott Glancy, Shane Ivey, and Toren Atkinson could "congratulate" the Pathfinder guys. All in the long standing spirit of companionship and mutual respect of RPG writers.
-
if ross had legions of internet fans then road trip would win you know. if only ross had some sort of outlet like a podcast or a website or something.
whatever, it is an honor just to be nominated.
-

If Ross would have just set up an automatic voting script attached to a random IP generator as suggested...
-
whatever, it is an honor just to be nominated.
That's what the loses say! Don't say that!

-
Oh that reminds me: Tom is going to run the Wild Talents Zombie game so I can attend the Ennies. I should be there when they announce that Pathfinder wins best adventure :D
WELL TWIST MY NIPPLES AND FUCK ME SIDEWAYS! That's the best news I've had all year! Tom... I'm going to be in a game RUN by Tom "The Gun" Church. I cannot even believe it. I'll have to get a picture, I mean, Patrick granted my wish but still, It'll be like a double wish come true. OHBOYOHBOYOHBOY!
Good luck to you Ross.
-
if losers say it's an honor to be nominated and ross says it's an honor to be nominated what does that make ross?
If he says it after he loses than a loser. Unless you say it while going some ironic or bad ass. Like, the winner steps out into the parking lot and your standing by his car and you say, "It's an honor just to be nominated" is a grizzled voice as you toss your lighter into the car window, lighting the massive amount of chemical accelerants you where pouring in during the "winner's" acceptance speech so you walk away into the shadows while the thing burns.
-
it was a goddamn loser's victory.
goddamn god.
-
You know I thought Greg Stolez had swindled me last year when I bought eCollapse and now I'm going to be running a game of it for the company (not that that took alot of effort on my part). I think I might have to make this a tradition. Corner an author, get their recommendation, and then run a session of whatever game they recommended to me at the next GenCon.
-
So who is interested in Wednesday night? I can give you my phone number to coordinate. I was thinking about 7-8 Wednesday, depending on when people get in. I should be at the Hyatt about 3. We are heading to Scotty's for a late lunch/dinner shortly after we get there.
Curse of the Yellow Sign really needs 5-6 players to work, so if we don't get enough, we can do something else. I have 1-3 people depending on how their travel plans and booth set up goes.
Also, any details on Thursday night?
And I think I have an extra ticket to the CoC Larp Delirium 701 run by the MUSkullls if anyone is interested. I played regular CoC with them last year and it was great. We have a group of 5-ish going to play in it ( all non-larpers ).
-
I'm up for meeting up on Wednesday. I should be getting in around 4 or 5.
-
Thursday night is still official RPPR meetup night but we will also definitely go to the Unspeakable Oath panel http://gencon.highprogrammer.com/gencon-indy-2011.cgi/event/SEM1123549
I think the thing is to meet up at 6 pm and get some food and then go to the panel. then a late night game.
-
Want to meet up at the Embassy Suites like last year? I think I still have my RPPR button.
-
I have a humble request to make of all the gen con atendees this year. Please swing by the WoTC booth and try out Heroes of Neverwinter facebook platform game and report back . I want to know if its any good seeing as i love tactical combat in video games... I always hoped 4th Ed. Would do something like this Tactic style game so I'm hoping it will meet my expectations. You will have my many thanks should you choose this optional side-quest.
-
Want to meet up at the Embassy Suites like last year? I think I still have my RPPR button.
yeah
meet at the embassy suites 6 pm thursday - get food and then go to panel
-
When y'all figure out where you are going after the panel, can you post it? I have a CoC game from 6-10. Of course, I could get killed early and make it to the end of the panel.
-
idk - prolly hyatt open gaming area for a quick after hours game where
I murder all PCs RUN A FUN ADVENTURE
-
I would like to report the first Ross And Tom sighting. They are in Indy and were cruising around in the hamster tubes a couple of hours ago.
