I've been dying to try out my M-51 engineer's bag. Its been through a trial run at the MAEDC, but it needs to feed.

It's the manliest purse I own.

Probably gonna stick with my backpack for GenCon, though.

Took the test on the front page and got:

Str 13 Int 15 Wis 11 Dex 15 Con 13 Cha 15

I volunteer for party (B)rogue!

edit: or if we're going by 4th ed something else possibly but I haven't kept up on it, so I'm going by the classic 3rd/2nd ed ones.

edit 2: tadanori, what's your game info buddy?

RPG1123580. Tickets going fast, the Saturday game is sold out. Apparently ArcDream has enough street cred to make up for my lack!

Aw man, I signed up for an Esoterrorists game that overlaps. :/

Nice work, dude! I don't do any apple dev myself, but I've always wanted to crank out a solid web-based character generator/gaming tool on the side. This is some nifty inspiration.

This quite possibly the worst earring I've ever seen.

Love it. I clicked 'like' for Facebook plugging!

Pabst, huh? So, what's gaming with hipsters like? Do they suggest you bring out the old Random Harlot Table (thanks, Gygax) so they can game ironically? 8D

Edit: Do they also hold Svirfneblin up as their favorite race, 'cuz they're still underground?

Whoa. Why are you assuming that these hipsters would even play D&D to begin with? It's way too popular. True hipsters play games like Everyone Is John! Crap. I just posted that on a forum. Now they have to find something else to play.

Caleb: I'll sign up for your game once signing up becomes possible.

Bonobo

I just started getting more into electronica these past few months and I have to say that Bonobo has really impressed me. Highly recommended. Deadmau5 is solid too. As is: The Glitch Mob, Ratatat, Ronald Jenkees, David Guetta, Trentemoller.

I mostly drink local beers because the breweries in WI totally own. I also have 3 friends that brew their own stuff.

Beer hipster cred aside... there are a few mainstr- nah, no, actually I pretty much stopped drinking any of the mainstream beers. I'm a total beer snob now. But I do enjoy Guinness every now and then. It's just that there are better stout beers to be had that are local. IPAs and Stouts are my poison.

Latest podcast episode: thanks Caleb for bringing up my comment on the Bryson Springs about telling players how they feel. It sounds like we interpreted the subject differently - I was sort of lumping in the "you're terrified" thing with other forms of dictating that I've seen in games. In that sense I wasn't trying to break into the philosophical question of "what controls your emotions?", I was focusing more on GM practice within a game. I agree that generally people don't have control of their own emotions, but if you're effective at narrative (and boy are you ever), it seems unnecessary to tell players how their characters feel. If a game is scary, it's scary.

It's not a bad awful terrible monster GM thing to do (like refusing to let PCs take control of other PCs, ROSS PAYTON), just extraneous (kind of like the extra rolling thing). I could see telling players how they feel in some cases ruining the mood (it didn't in yours, mind you). Like if you spend a few minutes narrating a scene where an NPC is dying, and the players are visibly stricken by this, and you suddenly break out with, "you feel really depressed" - I somehow think that'd ruin the mood a little. In the case of a tense situation, it seems like it'd be more effective to narrate something purely involuntary, like a character's heart rate increasing or a bead of sweat running down their forehead.

Lastly, I hope you aren't taking any of this the wrong way. I just find this subject interesting and enjoy the discussion. I'm not the kind of guy that would sit in on one of your games and write every tiny flaw in a notebook and then give it to you at the end. I'd be super honored to play in one of your games, no foolin'.

Uhhhh... what are you talking about? I'm awesome at making stuff up and never need to borrow ideas from anything :smug:

I ran 4 sessions of a New World Campaign. I used some of the supplemental material but switched up NPCs, took input from players on the quirks/personality of said NPCs, different plot arcs, etc.

I like it provided that the cryptic nature of the message plays a significant role in the game. Problem solving and code cracking is a lot of fun, and fits in very well with investigation style games - especially DG. Well done on the DG code lingo. I'm very interested to see how this runs.
