So my wife and daughter convinced me to let them rent G-Force. Know what it was pretty good. I would highly recomend it to anyone, in for a good action comedy. Any other good kid movies out there?
-
Anything by Pixar. The female of the household says "The Last Unicorn" was her favorite movie as a child.

Indeed, if nothing else, they are absolutely stunning, beautiful, and impressive. I recently saw Ponyo and was just amazed at the complexity and detail of the animation...
-
dont watch Igor thats all i have to say
-
My favorite kid's movie of the last four years has been Hoodwinked, although 9 was pretty impressive n terms of CGI. I second the anything Pixar too.
-
Is 9 a kid movie It didnt seem like it was
-
Depends on your parenting style. It'll be a kid's movie for my kids.
-
I dont realy count pg-13 movies as kids movies, but we rented 9 yesterday too, and gonna watch it today. course my oldest son who is 5 watched zack and mira make a porno. laughed his ass off in it.

Studio Ghibli movies kick ass...
...although don't watch 'Grave of Fireflies'.
Don't get me wrong, "it is the most profoundly human animated film I've ever seen." But i watched it with my wife and by the end we were so enervated that we couldn't summon the power to move until the credits had finished rolling and all we could say was 'Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck'.

How about every Miyazaki film ever? Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, etc.

I should really read an entire thread before I respond.

Fire in the disco!
I mostly like screwed up kid movies.
Secret of Nimh is pretty good. The sequels, made more recently, are more 'child friendly'.
The Thief and the Cobbler (AKA Arabian Knight). A weird movie that looks like its been totally redubbed for english but was actually made like it seems.
Swan Princess, a more friendly version of the Swan Lake story that's still got drama in it. Fairly strong female lead, compared to other stories.
FernGully: The Last Rainforest, if you can find it. About as heavy handed an eco-movie as your likely to meet but Tim Curry voices the bad guy and its good some cool visuals.

Thanks for the AMV Hell, That really made me feel better about that movie. Its not sad to sing along to them is it?
Secret of Nimh was one of my favorite movies as a kid.
Btw more ones not to go for are Watership Down(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5I9izys2ek (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5I9izys2ek) ) and Plague Dogs ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp5mcc47xD8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp5mcc47xD8) )

Oh, and the very second that your kid has become desensitized enough not to be bothered by exploding heads and the work fuck, make them watch "Hot Fuzz". Best movie ever.
-
I saw Aliens, La Dolce Vita, the Seventh Seal and the Seven Samurai when I was in grade school - like 4th or 5th grade at the latest. My parents showed them to me. I didn't think that was unusual at the time but I got a lot of blank stares when I told the other kids about them during school.
In fact, my parents made sure that I wasn't sheltered or ignorant of art or the larger world. While I could always watch R rated films, they also dragged me to art galleries and stuff like that.
Soo maybe show them serious art films as well?

If you want the kids to turn out like Ross.
Not judging; just saying: living example of experimental child movie/art gallery based child rearing.

or like my brother - he speaks fluent Japanese, is bored by anime and works for a Japanese TV network covering American politics in Washington D.C. He gets to travel around the world on someone else's dime and has been on the news for a few segment, interviewing Americans etc.
So, results may vary.
-
I'm learning japanese right now i need to become fluent in it inorder to be worth while in the feild I'm getting my degree in. so I envy your brothr ross

Also, The Princess Bride was a great movie. I mean, anything with Andre in it has got to be good...
Plus, it is often a good first taste of adventuring for the kids :)

My TA for my Physics lab was described as a "people-sized Andre-the-Giant." I must say, it is a very accurate description, proportionally sized and looks similar...

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is the Citizen Kane of animated films.

Wow, it's been so long since I thought of that one. That movie was bad ass.
-
Zardoz?
No seriously, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
Not Big Top Pee-Wee, that one is a little raunchy... BUT THERE IS A HOTDOG TREE!!!
UHm Goonies. and yes the last Unicorn.
Ghost Dad, with Bill Cosby.
Mrs. Doubtfire.
Jumanji.
The cartoon Hobbit. Best gateway drug ever.
-
Really? The animated Hobbit? Have you watched it lately?
Maybe I'm jaded because I have a VHS copy that looks like someone took a dump on the film itself, but the animation was bad, the voice acting was decent, and the theme song by Leonard Nimoy was just abyssmal.
-
the song is what made that video the best! ;D

Word up!
It has the songs, and I mean sure kids love well animated shows, like The Batman, and Speed Racer and that New Iron Man. And c'mon, any old crap is going to look outdated and choppy compared to new shit. The water colors are beautiful, but what other version of the Hobbit are kids able to watch?
I do understand if you hate the movie. :P
Kids might like it, I know I did.
-
hopefully the live action version soon! untill then you tell your kids that theres a cartoon hobbit but you dont wanna ruin the plot till they ssee the live action one.
