sounds like she is breaking the rules too - idk how that is rules legal for any reasonable number of points

Yeah her boyfriend was the GM so when we asked about it all he said was "Don't worry about it I double checked it already." So in a PL 7 limit game with PL 8 power points she probably had somewhere north of 200 points floating around.

By whoring up her points with flaws and drawbacks she might actually have been able to pull of what you describe her using within the system. But that probably gives her more of a rules lawyer attitude than I'm thinking she actually has. That pretty much proves it's breakable but whatever. Frankly it's much easier to cheat and with complex point buy systems you'd be less likely to get caught.

As far as I could tell she didn't have any drawbacks, unless looking like a 14 yr old is a 100 point drawback.

I have the GURPS books I did look it over quite a bit but I think this is one of those instances where I actually need a char gen program.

This is an experience that I had with the only M&M game I have ever played in.

A friend of mine has this girlfriend you see, she fancies herself a "serious" role-player. She lectures us about how our games don't feature enough character interaction and how her chat room RP is sooo much better than anything we could come up with, but she was willing to deign herself to show us how to role-play. Her boyfriend invited a small group of us to play with them. We bit the hook he threw out and decided to show her what was up. Before I started role-playing I had a creative outlet of writing a Super Hero comic based on a team of heroes my friend and I created in City of Heroes. So two of us from that team decided to run with those characters, we tweaked the back stories a little to fit his universe and we were off. With literally 20 issues worth of back-story plus our on respective origin comics to play off of we were ready to describe our incredible characters to them.

I have already digressed a bit in describing our characters so I will sum up our characters. A billionaire Mutant who created a Tech suit to enhance his own powers, and a modern day Inigo Montoya with a Katana and a Tech Suit of his own.(Vengeance Inigo not Drunk Spaniard Inigo)

So we have tons of material to work with and she seems surprised at the level of detail we are packing on. So when it comes to her turn she describes to us, the most ridiculous character this side of the Invincible Hammer Wheel.

Her name was Lola, and she was a 20 somthing with insane amounts of strength, Billions of dollars, a bag of holding with every weapon imaginable in it, every damn knowledge skill you can possibly buy points into, a robot sidekick that was impervious to damage, and had the same amout of skills as she did, an attack yo-yo, and special armor that looked like a catholic school girl outfit, completing the package of retardation was the fact that she hadn't aged a day over 14.

This is compounded by the fact that she in real life looks like a 14 year old girl.

How's that for "serious" role-playing?

My friend has been looking for a Stargate themed RPG. I did some research and came upon one made in 1998 and one in 2003.

The 2003 game is based off of the Spycraft system, so my question is: Is Spycraft a good system, or would the series benefit more from something like GURPS?

True which is why from a gaming aspect class balance is a great thing and I am glad they took so many steps toward achieving said balance.

Pathfinder does a pretty good job of that too if you think about it, Every classes picks up new abilities at nearly every level. While spells are still pretty sweet, so is the Paladins Mercy abilities and the Fighters Weapon/Armor Supremecy.

In the edition war I prefer 3.5/pathfinder. There are plenty of petty rules reasons and tons of personal opinion but the real decider for me, right from the start, was the sense of variety and the uniqueness that came with it. 4.7 has variety sure but I just never felt the classes were unique enough, though many people in response will quickly attack the unbalance in 3rd edition I never felt that balance was too huge a factor in a roleplaying game when in general the power creep is often an intentional player choice and happens quite mid-to-late game.

The balance factor for the game is totally out of wack at high levels, but as far as in universe roleplaying goes a Wizard/Sorceror commands magic giving them abilities beyond that of a normal person, a Fighter on the other hand, is a normal person with a weapon. So it sucks from a rules standpoint. (and believe I have seen some serious cheese in my short RPG career) However, it almost makes sense, or it would if it didnt make me feel dumb for making a Fighter when I could make a Cleric.

I am not particulary in love with 4E but then again I have never gotten to play an actual game. 3.5 was my first DnD so I will admit to being a bit biased, but even then I now love Pathfinder. It kept the things I like and removed alot of things I didn't. Still I would like to play one game of 4E before I condem it to the Nine Hells but my gaming group all refuse to play it again after a game they got into at their college.

Your AP's make it sound fun though.

I dunno about the Iphone, but I have an Android app that is a dice roller. You can customize sets of dice like 3d6+2 or just 1d6 or if you get bored 10d100's either way I only use it when no real dice are available since it isn't truely random, true random would take hours to put out a result.

I also found a "Spell Book" it doesnt offer an Add New feature for non SRD spells but it has everything from the 3.5 SRD and you can browse all or check off the ones you want to add to your spellbook for a quick list of all the spells you can cast and what the specfics mechanics of each one are.

It's a far cry from writing the page number next to the spell to reference it for specfics.

I don't know, I wouldn't say it was a useless skill.  I had so many points from intelligence and put some there.  Plus after getting the plasma rifle from the android, that's about all I used because it worked so amazingly well...

True, I didn't mean to make it sound completely usesless, just that Zeta adds more options for Energy Weapons and really I felt like Energy weapons was kinda tacked on... Only had like 1 or 2 non unique energy weapons from what I found.

Oh I can definitely see that.  They were definitely inferior for most of the game other than their relatively abundant ammo, but as soon as you got plasma weapons, especially that unique one, it was a good choice, Zeta definitely adds a ton of stuff though (just looking through my strategy guide, there are at least twice as many options with it)...

Reading this thread reminded me to tack
Fallout New Vegas

to my list of "DO WANT" October 19th you cannot come fast enough.

Finding that image wasn't easy as I tend to avert my eyes from it everytime I flip past it in the book.

Giant frogs freak me out.

At least this was I can share the horror with everyone.

Zarus is probably Pelor in disguise now that I think of it. He needs two faces in order to enact his evil plans.

Zarus always did remind me of Hitler, I mean his Clerics even have to go to Youth Camps.

So in the end we are left with more questions than answers....

Back and to the left.
