Isn't terraria's multiplayer really spotty?  Like, to the point where even the users recommend using Hamachi to connect?

I played using Tunngle (basically Hamachi) at first, but after port forwarding connecting normally is no problem. There's no Steam integration or server browser so you do have to connect direct to IP though.
