RPGs / Re: rifts muthafuckas!

My only encounter with Palladium was when my friends took me to this game shop somewhere upstate that had a Used-Book sale going on, and our DM (I'm the GM) had her eyes on some low-cost reference books involving soul-sucking demons for d20 systems.
I spied the books along the wall...almost the entire length of the shelf was Palladium books. Then I turned my mind back to Ross and Tom's rants about the numerous flaws of Palladium...Sure they were dirt cheap books~But...ooh, d6 Adventure? Ten dollars? Mine!
I guess RPPR is saving on GM at a time by spreading the word of Palladisuck.

Well, my group has two situations~~At my apartment, or at my friend Jo's house.

At my Apartment~ I have a small dining room table, which sits directly across from the kitchen breakfast bar (gotta love 1 bedroom apts), so I set up my GM screen and equipment on the breakfast bar and let the players take their places at the table.

My equipment~
Laptop for PDF's and notes.
Notepad of paper.
Dice box and dice.
GM Screen.
Rulebooks and reference material.
Mechanical Pencil and/or pen.

The Players equipment~
Scratch paper and pens.
Their copies of the rulebooks.
Character Sheets.
Octagonal dice rolling dish Jo picked up for cheap at a Game Daze shop at the Chandler Mall.

At Jo's place, we play on her pool table, because it's size is sufficient for dice rolling and has enough room for her group.

I think Martin Van Buren needs to make an appearance just once in the DnD game~ He does have the ability to travel the entire Multi-Verse, right?

To GM's:
~The players serve a function- And that function is not relying on your NPC's.
~There is no satisfaction in a game that's simply going from situation to situation with no real point.
~Never compromise the key points of the story.
~Sometimes the best way to get a player to straighten up is to attack something dear to him/her rather than to attack them directly.
~Motivating players can be as easy as taking something away from them.
~When a player gets to big for their britches, it's time for a lesson in humility.
~Don't allow criticals on Social interactions.
~Don't be afraid to use your players own tactics against them.
~You are both ally and enemy- And must be able to switch between the two.
~You must want your players to suceed, but you cannot simply give it to them.
~Min-Maxing must be routed and squashed as soon as it's detected.
~A players backstory should never be as important as the story told from level 1 on up.
~A GM must create a world that is interactive.

To Players:
~Your actions have consequences.
~Just because you are who you are, do not expect everyone in the world to think you're made of gold.
~Your enemies can be set on fire, but so can you.
~Being a hero isn't always about what you stand to gain, but rather what you are willing to sacrifice.
~There's nothing fun about cake-walking through a mission.
