I think this thread needs a little of the old Rubber Johnny.

Yeah when i was asked by my group about CoC i kind of..misled them. I didn't explain that guns are useless, or that things will drive you crazy, or that in the 1920s there were no white mages with resurrection spells.

So they recklessly accumulate mythos skill, make promises to every cult member they find, and ALWAYS run around with their revolvers fully loaded. While i have a great time describing their deaths!

Yeah I keep dice in my "manbag" (really it is a purse but don't tell anyone), anyhow whenever i end up needing change my hand just grabs a handful of crap that coats the purse bottom and I come up with some polyhedrals, and a couple quarters, a toothpick etc.

I haven't found any players this way- just identified which 7-11 clerks know what DnD is. :P

Just so you know, I have a plugin that sets us up as a referrer for all links to Amazon. We get a few percent of any sales made as a result. That has net us almost enough money to purchase one used copy of a classic game that I know all of you will want to hear us play: The World of Synnibarr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_of_Synnibarr

I just ordered it and I will fucking run it before the end of this summer AND IT WILL BE GLORIOUS

If you make Tom run it, then IT WILL BE GLORIOUS

Ross, I have a copy of Anima, and was wanting to run a campaign out of it, but I had a lack of players at the time.  I could be down for trying my hand at it with a solid group of people who would like to crunch numbers. (although if it were more than a 1-shot, that would bring my weekly game count to 4... ugh)

-Dan, adding one to his Darkspiral Aura

Uhm, aside from Dan's Darkspiral being totally hilarious everytime, I'd have to say I really want to hear Tom run a game.

I like the direction this seems headed. Let us know how the game turned out and what the players was most bewildered/scared by.

YEah, one time my DM designed a double room (one set of double doors that open to two different rooms (which are side by side)). I was playing a bad ass aasimar sorcerer, Yan-san.
Yan-san and the cleric enter the room on the right- meanwhile the shadow dancer, and two war-forged juggernauts enter the room to the left.

And what do Yan-san and the cleric see? A beholder- awesome. What do the BMX bandits see? A lich- sooper awesome.
The beholder uses his save or die beam on the cleric- who then dies. The lich immobilizes the BMX bandits. The beholder attempts to use the same beams of death on Yan-San Poophands Dragon's Bane, but his reflect spell causes instant death to the beholder instead. Great, 1 for 1.

The lich casts sleep on the BMX bandits and they are out of the fight. Yan-san then used gaseous form to creep into the other room and chose to use my own save or die spell on the lich- to make a long story short Yan-san summoned a horde of angels while everyone else died, or fell asleep.

That does sound awesome.

You could then, after doing that, write an adventure in the style of the "expediation" books from Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 set later on after the hulk has been sunk, allowing the players to loot what is effectivally a new dungeon where all the nasties from the deep blue and the bottom of the bay came to hide and snack on smaller things.

Half above, half underwater, partly in caverns that the hulk crashed into, unleashing formerly unknown horrors sealed below the bay so what began as a looting run is now a quest to save the world by not only pushing back the nasty but somehow sealing it up again with the hulk threatening to come crushing down as it rots and break the little hole open alot wider.

...

Okay, that got away from me a little but I think I conveyed my original idea at some point.

cute n.n

Well worth it! I'd do it again! Now I can use my forgotten realms campaign setting book as liner at the bottom of my bird's cage.

Excellent job to everyone!

and retarded peolple freak the shit outa me

Wow. My players don't like insanity, or the insane- I think the fact that I have a lithe frame, sallow features, scars on my head where I was lobotomized, and a great laugh also adds to their fright.

I discovered today the power of taking a break.
Like an intermission, well timed, it really rejuvenates a failing game.

As a selfpromotional note, I will inform those who accidentally read this post-

Today I got shanghaied into running my first Call of Cthulhu session and aside from a rouge Boston Red Sox outfielder named Mitch Maloy, things went surprisingly well.
I just stuck with 'The Haunting' from the 6thed book. but I'm trying to figure out which 1920s adventure I should thrust them into next. I was thinking Shadows of Yog-Sothoth, but I'm REALLY open to suggestions/comments/questions/anxieties/fears/paranoias/quandaries/inquiries/ etc.
