Well, if this proves to be good....yeah, you're never going to see me again. ;D  I had heard rumors about this before but was unsure if it was ever going to be published. Honestly I can only see it going two ways. Either it will be the most awesome original (yet respectful of its origins) story, or as Ross put it "it will turn into the worlds largest griefing engine with everybody trying to kill Optimus Prime". In any case thanks for the conformation Arje!

why does everything has to end up as an mmorpg?

Not so bad; Transformers is much more suited to being an MMORPG than a lot of other properties.  There's enough duration to the war and small-time foot soldiers that there's all kinds of room to work in, Transformers are really hard to kill permanently, it's totally reasonable to fight on dozens of different worlds, get upgrades and harder missions (levels) as you demonstrate value to your faction...

Could be a very good MMO, could suck.  Much like every other MMO. ;)

Somewhat off topic, did anyone else look at the link at the end of the description, with a mix of curiosity and incredible trepidation?  I'm still not sure if I should follow it...

Only in the loosest sense of the world.

And by loosest I do not mean floppy robo-vag.

The game has been officially sanctioned by Hasbro, will be a role-playing game, and...will only be released (at least initially) in China, "Asia", Russia (and CIS states),

Crap, it's an Asian MMO.  This is only going to end in tears.

Hate to bust your bubble boss, but its only going to be released in Asia. So unless you move over seas and learn to type asian your screwed.

Maybe it will make a U.S. but if there smart they will keep it out of here.

Well, they already fowled up the cartoon, and three movies, only one of which was any good. Video Games is probably their only venue to really try and keep Transformers relevant.

Which of the cartoons are you referring to?  As I see it, most of the animated endeavors after G1 had varying degrees of success.

Beast Wars: Surprisingly excellent, especially for it's entry as a mid-nineties production.  Not only did it preserve a great deal of history from G1, but it crafted a fairly unique time-travel story of it's own.  Plus on re-watch the animation and voice acting still holds up incredibly well to this day.

Beast Machines: Interesting overall plot concerning balance between technology and nature in society.  Suffered from extremely poor pacing, writing staff missing their target demographic by a mile, characters personalities changing in ways that made no sense (see Rattrap) plus transformations that were ehhh, you'll see:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXmTe2cKmGI
Also, the overuse of Cell-Shaded CGI (personal complaint).

Robots in Disguise [A.K.A] Car Robots]:  Doesn't count. Re-purposed anime series having nothing to do with actual Transformers.

The Unicorn Trilogy [Armada, Energon and Cybertron]:  I could just say "Pokeformers" and I know the argument could be over, but that is far too simplistic.  The basis of Armada was interesting, but quickly devolved due to never-ending filler episodes and hilariously bad dubbing on the part of the American importers.  Energon and Cybertron did nothing to help either (given the additions of very stiff Cell-Shaded CGI used against traditional cell animation). Ultimately considered a success with its target demographic of boys between 4-9.

Transformers Animated:  While not giving the story away, this series is by far the best Transformers story since Beast Wars.  Besides having an awesome alternate history storyline, it has several other things going for it as well: Top-notch voice acting, a continuing serialized plot, engaging action sequences, characters that actually feel Three-Dimensional (even though they are technically drawn Two-Dimensionally) and finally HUMOR.  This is something that the last four series seems to have forgotten.  To make it better, it's also humor that adults can appreciate while mostly flying over their kids heads. Point in case:

The only thing I can say would possibly put people off may be the animation. But if you are like me, I became okay with it after several episodes. So if you can get past the look and general style of the show, you are in for a real narrative treat.

Haha wow. That is some super-lazy animation on those transformations. I imagine there was some sort of discussion in the art department that went about like this:

Animator 1: "Dammit. I love transformers, but I've been animating spinning gear things for like 12 hours. This is way harder than it seemed during my DeVry animation courses!"

Animator 2: "Yeah, I know. And they seem to want us to produce these things really fast. If only there was a way to get these animations done with only a few animation curves and almost no time."

1: "Haha. Yeah right. The only way to do that would be to scale the animal limbs in, scale the robot limbs out, then pose the result. It'd look like crap to any real transformers fan."

2:Yeah, it probably would.

Animator 3: Sorry to butt in, but I'm just curious... do any of the managers strike you as transformers fans?

Animation staff: ....

1: ...you know, I always like G-Force better anyways. Let's wrap these up in the next hour, render them out with bits missing over the next three months and submit them at our "progress report" meetings, and make it look like it took the entire production period.

2: You can't be serious! There's no way they'll fall for that.

Animator 4: Put a lens flare behind it! Managers love lens flares! And make sure to zoom the camera in and out a lot. Makes it more dynamic.

1: Fuck yes, promotions all around.

The 1986 film is the only one that matters. :foldarms:

My optimistic worldview makes me want to believe this did not happen to the animators working for Mainframe, but I have to keep reminding myself that after ReBoots second revival they pretty much sold their souls to the highest bidder.  The Spider-Man CGI series that ran on MTV pretty much confirmed that theory.
