I have recently buckled down to learn this mammoth of a system. I've learned much and come far, but, I have little practical experiance to draw on.
Would anyone like to give me accounts of their own experiences? I have listened to all 6 GURPS Modern League games and so any more info would be welcome.

High point characters aren't necessarily effective ones. When playing make sure to carefully guide your players, giving them clear goals. A totally wide open system is a barrier to the creative mind because it has too many options.
Shoot for the moon, GURPs can do so much why not aim high? How often do you get to see Alan Grant, Connor MacLeod, and Pippi Longstocking fight a T-Rex?

The best GURPS game I played was a WW2 civilian game with 25 point characters - I was a black market doctor that happened to be Jewish. We were in Nazi occupied Amsterdam. The goal: to not die. This was surprisingly hard given the circumstances.

How did you know where to spend your precious few points? Having 11 IQ woud have cost 80% of your built total preflaws...
-
You could also look up the old Bum fight thread. We rolled some low level GURPs characters for that.
-
3rd ed had different point costs for characters - I got a lot of points in disadvantages - I was a jew in Europe don't forget.

This was made for at one of my players request... how does it look? It is my first try at such a high point cost character.
How's this for a Gurps Modern League 500 pt. Character.
Chev Chelios RE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crank_(film)
Instead of getting the artificial heart in the second movie (which never should have been made in my opinion but that's neither here no there) he wakes up in the hospital with an infant alien symbiote fixing up all his internal organs. He is then hired to do a job.
