Well, I have been watching this Star Wars Clone Wars on Cartoon network for a while, and even though I dont like the fact that Anikan has a Padawan, I do like the show and I do like the Padawan. I went out and rented the movie a while back and watched it three times, once watching it with the comentary. I must say I enjoy the comentary explaining how all the things tie in. Anyways just wondering what you guys thought about it.
-
I liked it better when it was called Samurai Jack 8)
-
Well sure samuri jack was the best. haha!
-
Indeed it was! I never did see if/how that series ended...
-
I think they finished it in DVD it was taken off the air befor it could end. But I could be wrong.
-
The older cartoon micro series was my favorite. Fuckin' Grevious knows how to cut a bitch. Damn!
As for the new stuff, I find that having something is often better than nothing.
I like space battles and lightsabers. While I might not like the show that much, having some of those things is better than having none of them, especially when you don't have cable and watch all your shows "on demand" through the internet.
More than anything though is the underlying loathing of the character that Anakin has become, which is fundanmentally a lie.
The individual is, from my persepective, already broken beyond repair. Since all of thse events occur between the movies II and III they change nothing about him in the end and the character, as he appears in III, is locked into that depiction forever, barring a full on remake. Tiny change to character do not alter the over all context of those events. It is nice to see the character actually make facial expression.
Anyway, as I said, some lightsabers is better than none at all.

Is it the padawan from the fucking Clone Wars movie? It's one of the few movie I stopped midway. It's not that it's a horrible movie, but it's definitely too kid friendly for my taste in Star Wars movie.
The problem with Anakin is, in my retarded opinion, stemming from Hayden Christensen being an horrendous actor. On the other hand, Ewan McGregor made me love Obi Wan even more.
It's sad when a animated character has more emotions than an actual actor. :)
-
I don't have cable so meh!!
-
Me neither, I watch shit on my computer.
-
She is and I did too.
I like Ewan. He doesn't emot that much in the live action movies. No one does. I don't know if Lucas directs the people on screen to hide their emotions but that's what it feels like. All of the characters are too icy for me, though Christensen is the lead faceless block.
Ewan and Natalie are both actors I enjoy greatly in other films, as are Samuel L. Jackson, the glorious Terence Stamp (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000654/), and some others in the films. If I like them in other movies and not in a movie by George Lucas, the problem becomes clear to me.
-
What made me appreciate Ewan as an actor was actually the behind the scene look of Episode 3. He's really enthusiast about what he does and everybody seem to like him (fun fact: his uncle, Denis Lawson, was Wedge Antilles in the original trilogy, (if you don't know who that is, I'm surprised you're even on this forum)).
Did anyone else hear Natalie's rap on the album "Incredibad" of The Lonely Island where she tells everyone to "suck her dick"?
-
No, I had not heard that. Hopefully I will continue along this path of not having heard it.
Ewan is a good guy. I just don't think anyone really came out of Episode 3 looking good. Anakin is a wuss/psyco/crybaby/abusive boyfriend/whatever else, the Emperor melts for some reason, Obi-wan fails, Yoda fails, Padme kills herself (losing will to live? fuck you), all the Jedi get backstabbed, and Darth Vader norms.
-
Damn if his unemotional "Nooooooooooo" at the end didn't make me lose my shit. ;D
-
They do an excellent parody of it in the Emperor Strikes Back Rifftrax with Chad Vader that just came out.
During the scene with Luke fighting "Vader" in the cave, Chad goes "Noooo!" when Vader is killed. Then they reveal it was a mind game so he apologies, says it was dumb, and asks if they can cut that part out of the riff. Mike says they can't, which prompts another "Noooo!"
-
Who's excited for the Star Wars live action series?
*thunderous applause*
Yeah, I was excited too until I learned that it took place between episodes 3 and 4. Who's excited now?
*crickets*
Yeah, that's what I thought. Well, at least we have a fucking kick ass new Star Trek movie to look forward to. Let's face it, Star Trek kicks Star Wars' ass anyday.
-
Padme kills herself (losing will to live? fuck you)
I thought she died from apathy and Bad Dialogue Poisoning.
I re-watch Episode III just for the spaghetti-western fight between Obi-Wan and Greivous.

If they do it right, theres lots of good stuff that they could cover like Solo and his adventures, but most likly they will ruin it and have jake lloyed kid swoop racing instead of pod raceing.
As for the new star trek OH Yeah Sooo gonna see that.

I just don't want to see a CW Solo. You know, a 30 year old playing a 16 year old Han. That would be bullshit.

the problem I have is that Im an invested star wars fan. so I buy all the novels and comics that fill in the gaps and make the story really shine(mainly cause Lucas's hand is nowhere near them). but then after I've invested all my money and time in my geekness they go and do retarded ass shit like this and change everything I knew about star wars. "anakin never had a padawan," *poof* "now he does."
all the true star wars fans know that obiwan is Luke's real father. look at the hair and the facial expressions.
anyways time to back it up. the star wars outcast comic series places obiwan around couresant around the time of conception, while anakin was in the outer rim saving jedi and fighting longside the clones. it stated in the SW micro series part 2 that he hadnt been back to couresant in five months then directly after the battle it leads to the assault on dooku/grieve's ship to save Palpatin. which THEN lead directly into the beginning of episode 3 where padme tells anakain shes pregnant.
now I know the force is strong and shit but how the hell do you impregnate someone millions of lightyears away. mind you they tried to explain it in the begining of the star wars: Legacy of the force books, when Jacen solo fathers a child with Tahiri Vale. but fail miserably by stating "the force works in mysterious ways." It just dont make no damn sense.
I fucking hate George Lucas, love star wars but hate Lucas. he can take those CGI puppets and stick them up his ass. the only way to justify everything that has happened is if she is killed off before the next movie. in that sense I could see him saying "I've have no padawan".
-
It's gotten so bad that even the word "padawan" pisses me off.
-
I like the name, but only because it makes me think of Puddleglum, and the other Marshwiggles, from the Chronicles of Narnia. Those guys where fun.
-
Think: Sequel directed by Zack Snyder. Then two more by the Wachowski brothers, with gundams!
-
Wachowski brothers + Gundams = Say what?! I saw their "mecha" in Matrix 3, no thank you sir.
If you sought to dissuade me, you have done so.
-
Character animation is awesome. Very fluid for the Jedi, even more so when using their Force Jump and Force Tumble.

I never use the words "Wachowski brothers" in a positive light, good sir.
-
nore Gundams I assume.
-
I used to like gundams :'( albeit, not for the story.
-

that is one fucked up manga. god damn twisted 13 year olds, yeesh.
-
They're around 15 years old, actually. Full blown whores and gangbangers. They're more like real kids in the book, which is excellent by the way.
-
I was referring to the first movie, which is the best version.
-
I beg to differ. :P

nevre read them and kinda happy i didn't ..now
-
Well, the best part about the movie is its soundtrack and coupled with some really awesome scenes. The worst is that it left out a lot.
The best about the book is that its the original story and its a really good lecture. The worst is the japanese names being confusing as shit.
The best about the manga is that it goes in detail about each character's background. The worst is everything else.
I was scanning through it and daaamnn, what's with Japanese and fluids?
-
The movie was directed by Kenji Fukusaku, one of the great Japanese directors. He fought in WW2 and made over 50 films in his career, including the infamous series "Battle without honor or humanity" a 6 part yakuza epic often called the Japanese Godfather. I used that film series as a basis for my yakuza games. It starts Beat Takeshi, one of the great grizzled actors of Japan.
The movie is fucking epic and it is by far the superior version of the story. I've read the novel and some of the manga and they don't have the same impact as the movie.
-
Kinji Fukasaku stated that the novel reminded him of his time as a 15-year old munitions factory worker, so he decided to create the film adaptation. When he was 15 years old, Fukasaku's class was drafted, and he worked as a munitions worker during World War II. In July 1945, the class was caught in artillery fire. Since the children could not escape artillery fire, they had to dive under each other in order to survive. The surviving members of the class had to dispose of the corpses. Fukasaku realized that the Japanese government lied about World War II at that point; Fukasaku had a burning hatred of adults in general for a long time.
I think THAT quote is epic. ;D
But anyway, I think both the book and manga are better. Now, since it's all derailed from the original subject, let's have a nerd argument about Peter Jackson's adaption of LOTR. ;D
