: Whats the worst thing...
: cutechemist July 21, 2011, 02:36:22 PM
Alright, I have only listened to a few of the Actual Play poscast...but it had me thinking. What is the worst thing that has happened in a game you were playing/ running and what has been the best thing so far? I will start...

Best: I was in an Aftermath game and I was playing what roughly could be a scientist...and our party ended up getting to a point of a TPK because we realized that we wouldn't have enough food to survive the winter. So I took the GM aside and asked would there be enough food for one person. He told me no, but pretty damn close. Then I promted him with a follow up question of, "what is I ate the rest of the party as well?" He stared at me for a few seconds and said yes.....so I ate the rest of my party and survived the winter...I felt like a crazed badass. Especially because that was my first ever RPG game I have ever played.

Worst: A group of us were playing Mage and our Life/Mind mage somehow got herself rapped by a werewolf from the deep umbra....It was avery disturbing night for us and we couldn't believe our GM went there....Then again it was Halloween and he was dressed up as dead Jesus...

worst: playing D&D in a cigarette smoke drenched apartment wallpapered with porn and professional wrestling posters. There was also a small kid in the backroom playing video games surrounded by hardcore porn pictures D:

best: Lady Gaga 2.0 final battle (player) and concluding the new world campaign (as a GM)

It's a pretty impressive wrap up. Ross sounds drunk on violence and high on slaughter by the end of it. And synthetic battle coke. Cyber synthetic battle coke.

Best: Playing Warhammer 40K RPG battles. They all blur together a little in my head but it's always a storm of flying bullets, fire, plasma, blood, and body parts. Always brutal, always rewarding. My stand out favorite was a Space Marine game I was running. The players are surprised attacked by a Tau heavy transport ship, seperated from their landspeeder by the troops and Crisis Suit the ship is dropping. The Librarian ran into the woods and doubled around to get to the speeder while the Assault Marine and Techmarine just fucking charged the entire company of soldiers.

Techmarine starts firing rockets everywhere and the Assault Marine jump packs into the open drop bay, punches his way into the main halls of the ship and goes rampaging through the thing heading for the cockpit. By this time the Librarian is at the speeder and starts doing straifing runs using his Psyker powers, shooting lightning from his eyes while the Techmarine tries to fight the Crisis Suit with his knife.

Finally the Assault Marine breaks into the cockpit, slaughters the crew, kicks the controls, sending the ship straight for the ground, and jump packs out of the windows, forgetting that he's now pointing towards the ground. The assault marine explodes out of the ship, slams into the ground, digging a trench as he does so, screaming his chapter's name at the top of his lungs, and the troop transport crashes behind him, cutting the Crisis Suit off from the troops. Using the explosion and crash as a distraction the Librarian retrieved the Techmarine and the Assault marine so they all rode off into the sunset together.

We laughed so much we fell out of our chairs. My brother started coughing and laughing at the sametime and we from red to purple trying to find lung space to breath in.

Worst: My worst isn't actually that bad, just dull. Got stuck in this homebrewed alternative D&D setting that was really confusing and full of conflicting ideals we knew where shoved on it by the creator. The entire game was extremely boring, slow, and without drama.

Best: The first Prototype Delta Green game where Tom, Jason, and I were investigative journalist.

Worst: The second Prototype Delta Green game where Tim and some other guy joined the game as secret agents who loaded up on Desert Eagles and shot a bunch of stuff.

Best: Every single Monsters and Other Childish Things game I've played . . .

Worst: . . . except for the Sentai warriors chapter of Road Trip (I created the wrong character for that one - buy Ross's book and vote for it in the Ennie awards!)

I think he means the Candlewick game you ran Ross, with the sea monster in the lake. Only serpent I remember.

Best: The IH campaign that I'm refusing to divulge details about.

Worst: A T2K game where we ran rough shod over the GM and slaughter everything mercilessly while meeting little resistance.

I actually have one that is worse than that, but I'll write up a full story about it later.

The dragoncon candlewick game had a horde of snakes eaten by a herd of mongooses

I listened to the podcast again and I had my roommate listen to it, and now he has become very interested in the Monsters and Other Childish Things. Can any of you explain more about the mechanics of the game? Is there a PDF, book, website, etc..where I/ we could look or buy it?

Nevermind...I think one of you already posted a link.
And by the way, I am on that Lady GaGa 2.0 right now... you guys are ridiculous

Right, then shoved through a hole my a herd of lemmings. I assumed he was talking about your sea serpent because he used the singular.

Fixed that for myself.

I apologise and I will do my best to remember that.
