This is an 80s system so all attributes, animal type and background are randomly determined. You roll and I will tell you what you are. HOWEVER if you roll up a PC you MUST write a backstory of some type - at least a few sentences to explain who Bubba the mutant quail raised in a cage by a secret crime fighting organization really is and what he is all about.
8 attributes -IQ, ME, MA, PS, PP, PE, PB SPD - roll 3d6 - if the attribute is 16 or higher add 1d6!
Rolling 3d6: (3+6+6): Total = 15
Rolling 3d6: (1+1+1): Total = 3
Rolling 3d6: (6+5+1): Total = 12
Rolling 3d6: (1+6+3): Total = 10
Rolling 3d6: (4+1+6): Total = 11
Rolling 3d6: (4+3+5): Total = 12
Rolling 3d6: (2+2+4): Total = 8
Rolling 3d6: (1+1+3): Total = 5
Then roll for background - roll 1d100 5 times - the first 3 rolls determine animal type and background - last two determine specifics of background
Rolling 1d100: (51): Total = 51
Rolling 1d100: (14): Total = 14
Rolling 1d100: (3): Total = 3
Rolling 1d100: (99): Total = 99

Animal type: Fox
Cause of mutation: Random mutation
Wild Animal education and background: Character goes public and is educated at a major university. The character likes and trusts humanity in general.
Name: George Fox Jr.
Religion: Quaker
Alma matter: George Fox University http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Fox_University
Background: George Fox Jr. was discovered by a professor of biology during a research trip in the remote Canadian wilderness. George was first kept as a research test subject until the highly principled staff decided to raise him as their ward. He's considered a minor celebrity in the area but has received no mainstream media attention...at least so far. Legally speaking, George is in limbo, as no judge or politician wants to tackle this delicate matter. However, he is considered a person by the staff and faculty of the university and George is a regular nice guy. Of course with a M.E. of 3 (mental endurance) he is a pushover, gullible and naive.
-
that first one was my example. This is Tad's PC.
Animal type: Pig
Cause of Mutation: Accidental Encounter with mutagen - goo, radiation - whtaever
Wild animal education: Adopted by a 'mentor' who teaches and guides the character in some form of special training. This is often ninjitsu but all areas of special training can be selected. These caracters will learn to be philosophic about all creatures. Their attitudes could be summed up as, some people are good, some bad, everyone deserves a chance to earn your trust.
-
Okay, I got a backstory in mind. Can you tell me what all the stats are so I can figure out what he's good at?

(Am I actually going to be playing something, or is this just to roll up a character for no reason, I'm down with either, just not sure about rules if playing something)

IQ = IQ points * 17 - so an IQ attribute of 17 is supposed to be a real IQ of 170
ME = mental endurance - willpower
MA = charisma
PS = Physical Strength = STR
PP = Physical Prowess - DEX
PE = Physical Endurance - CON
PB = Physical Beauty
SPD = Speed - running speed
also - animals get attribute bonuses
Pigs
IQ +3
ME +1
MA +1
Fox
IQ +2
ME +8
SPD +3
so I guess George isn't hopelessly naive - just an average guy all around - pretty smart though - IQ of 17.

Yeah start up and go down. Skunks don't get any stat bonuses. Most species do but skunks are one of those that don't.

Brian was a domestic pig on a Texas panhandle ranch where rainwater run off activity had been slowly eroding a mass of radioactive ores away from the looser soils around it. Eventually, the ores came loose and toppled into the below ground water supply of the ranch. Most of the animals and plants in the area died out but a few, like Brian, changed into strange new creatures. The ranch owner, a retired Texas Ranger, saved Brian from some of the mutated plants that had begun to populate the ranch. Under the ranger's care, Brian learned how to track, how to wear a hat, and how to round house kick bad guys.
His face bears ugly scars from the plant attack but Brian has great strength of will, a solid body, and quick feet.

Name: Alexander
Mutation: Ate irradiated food (experimental)
Education/Training: Extensive culinary training, has adapted this into combative skills, able to use most cooking ingredients and tools (or the "hardware" and "software" a la Alton Brown) effectively as weapons.
Stats:
IQ = 10
ME = 13
MA = 7
PS = 13
PP = 10
PE = 10
PB = 11
SPD = 10
(kinda crazy how close they are)
Background:
Alexander is a largely "average" mutated skunk. Always a hungry character (likely due to high metabolism), struck it big one night discovering a large container of food. He failed to comprehend the various warnings on it and ate it, passing out and awakening to find himself "antrhopomorphized." As it turns out, it was a failed experiment in performing what would essentially amount to nuclear freeze-drying, preserving food in a more simplified state so that it could be brought back at a later time. Seeing his new condition as a stroke of good luck he sought a mentor who could teach him the art of cooking so that he could satisfy himself with finer food than garbage. However as one might expect, it is a bit difficult to find a chef willing to train and deal with a overly large skunk (albeit a very skillfull cook), so his mentor is a bit "odd" to say the least (I suppose a bit like Gusepi from the Candlewick AP) and insisted that he learn to use his skills not only to feed himself, but as personal defense as well.
So, yeah. Let me know if there are any changes or something I should make (not sure what kind of backstory is desired)...
-
that's fine. I just borrowed the TMNT book from Tom and random PC gen is always fun.
-
I wrote that character background and I realized I have to use that general idea at some point (cook/fighter). I can just imagine someone fighting with food effectively. It's like one of those scenes in action movies/TV shows where they run through the kitchen. Except this guy would stop and fight, as everything would be a weapon...
-
Obviously there is more to chargen in the book but it's too much to post here - pick skills, equipment but there's one interesting part - mutations - basically each animal chooses what kind of human features they would have. The categories are
Hands - can you use tools like a human or not?
Biped - 2 legs or 4
Speech - talk like an animal or not
Looks -can you pass for human or not?
Each category has to be set to none, partial or full. Partial biped is like a bear - you can stand up but you run on all fours. Full human looks is something like the thundercats - can pass for human but still has animal features
The TMNT are hands, biped, speech full, looks none
There's also size and optional psionic powers. Also, some animals have unique powers like the skunk's stink spray or cheetah speed or flying as a bird.
You get BIO-E points to spend on these features. Each animal starts with so many - small animals get a lot of points, big animals not as much. You can lower your size to get more points but you become easier to kill (can take less damage) and if you go too small you get attribute penalties
Anyway, it's a neat chargen system.

The character of Alexander the Skunk lives on! I have to do a team builder for my staff tomorrow and the person I am working with on it suggested making short comic strips, cutting them up and distributing them. Then people would try to figure out the order and the story without showing them to others. I drew a four panel strip of his mutation and training.

Background:
Dave was once a humble but fat mountain rescue dog until 'the incident'. What happened is still unclear to Dave but all he remembers is that it involved a Winnebago, 3 metric tonnes of irradiated twinkies, a kindly elderly couple who hated foreigners and the Aurora Borealis. When he awoke he found himself in changed. He could walk on two legs as well as four. He had thumbs. It was much harder for him to clean his crotch. After some brief 're-orientation' Dave decided that he'd had enough of civilisation since people kept screaming at him and pointing and no longer wanted to pat him on the head or give him treats so he set out into the great wilderness with nothing but the ill fitting tourists clothing and fanny packs for company...

After the death of Pope John Paul the II, the council of cardinal decided that they needed a champion for the new age. Jesus might have been the good shephard, but now the church needed a bad wolf. Calling upon their considerable wealth, and Old Testament technology, the cardinals elected a new pope, and used the knowledge of their secret spy organization the Opus Dei, bestowed upon him the power of the wolf. Already having an impressive amount of skill from training that he received in the Hitler youth, Joseph hardened his skills and received even more training at St. Peter's Basilica and Assassin school. Joseph learned to fight in the double cross fighting style.
Joseph's first assignment was to assassinate the time travelling son of Judas, a mastermind who planned on wreaking his vengeance on modern day Rome. Joseph drove the cross through his skull, but something felt wrong. After saying "Is the pope a bear? No, but I'm still going to shit in your skull." Joseph felt hollow inside, like his life could be more than just being a ruthless instrument of the churches wrath.
Joseph left Europe that day, and headed to America. He now drifts up and down the American east coast, constantly fighting the other mutants of the church, and the other popes the church sends to fight him.

Name: Magellan Chalmers
Age: 16
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 155 lbs.
Even before he was born, Magellan carried the hopes and expectations of his many parents on his tiny shell. The executives at Multi-Corp., the firm that financed his development, wanted to exploit him as a living weapon--or, failing that, as the forerunner of a new subspecies that could be genetically programmed and trained to serve human masters. The scientists who grew him from a mutated turtle embryo wanted to study him, to use the secrets locked in his DNA to bring about revolutionary developments in the fields of biomedical technology, gene therapy, cosmetics, and tissue replacement. Doctor John Ferdinand, the aging geneticist who led the Magellan team, only wanted one thing: a son. And from the moment when, five months after hatching, Magellan looked into Doctor Ferdinand's eyes and called him "Daddy," that's exactly what he became.
Soon thereafter, Ferdinand contacted the Oppenheimer Network, an underground coalition of radical scientists, peace advocates, and animal rights supporters dedicated to preventing the unethical use of scientific research, and brokered a deal: he would extract Magellan from Multi-Corp.'s secure labs and the ON would provide them with a safehouse where he could raise Magellan in secret. However, during the breakout, Multi-Corp. agents shot Dr. Ferdinand before he reached the perimeter fence, leaving Magellan in the care of Ferdinand's ON contact, a freedom fighter and flower child named Sondra Chalmers. For the next fifteen years, Chalmers protected Magellan from Multi-Corp.'s nefarious agents, who were often willing to go to deadly lengths to retrieve their runaway experiment, and raised him as her own. Due to his mother's teachings, he became something of a Luddite, constantly wary of the dangers that new technology holds for the world and distrustful of those who would capitalize on it. To this end, he and his mother still work with the ON to prevent the technocratic powers that be from developing new super-weapons, raiding research facilities, kidnapping scientists, and using other guerrilla tactics in their struggle.

He doesn't know whether it was the Sudanese civil war or the Congolese civil war, but in one of them, one of the sides was planning to use a biological weapon derived from stolen American bioweapon research waste. The other side raided the convoy, destroying the weaponry, but some of the waste leaked out, where Sokwe Mtu came upon the appealing-fruit-colored, mutagenic substance. As he anthropomorphized, he quickly became alienated from his fellow chimpanzees, and wandered around the Congo-Sudan border where he had lived. It was there that he was found by a group of American Episcopal missionaries, who were utterly convinced that they had found the "missing link." They taught him English, which he learned quickly, and planned to send him off to America for study. He, however, had other plans.
He moved about the rainforest regions of Central Africa for two years, interacting with whatever humans he could, until he found himself in the middle of another Congolese civil war. Amidst his efforts to find a safe place to wait out the conflict, he met an eccentric American Vietnam veteran who had fled the despite towards his ilk stateside by moving to Africa. Vance Markham taught Sokwe about the life of a soldier, teaching him firearms use, military martial arts, and combat tactics. When the army approached Markham's "compound," he and Sokwe held them off, a feat witnessed by a British photojournalist. The story, featured in the Independent of London, made Sokwe an international figure. He couldn't avoid press publicity, and reluctantly immigrated to America, where he could at least harness it for personal gain.
While Sokwe hates the spotlight, he is a natural communicator, and manipulator. His Foundation for Sokwe Mtu--he claims that his name is simply the Swahili word for "chimpanzee"--has raised millions of dollars, which he uses to provide solely for himself. His semi-natural gift for public speaking, his positioning as a philanthropist and philtroglodyphist, as well as his renown as a "war hero" and his war chest, built up from his own paychecks as administrator of his foundation, allowed him to stage a successful run for the office of governor of Arkansas in 2002. He immediately pushed through legislation to create the Arkansas State Defense Force, an official state militia, answerable only to himself, and he has turned it into a sort of private police force, allowing him to act as a kind of vigilante with official sanction and lots of expendable underlings.
