...so I won't have internet at my new flat for another two days. I'll try to catch up on the forums tomorrow at work as much as I can.
-
O unhappy days,
What shalt we do
In thou absence?
-
It would really suck to be without internet...
-
I went 3 months without it other then on my phone! I feel for anyone that loses it for even a day.
-
Same thing happened to me when I moved. Welcome to the club.
-
Same thing happened to me when my NEIGHBOR moved. They ( Comcast, not AT&T ) disconnected mine instead. Blamed it on an outage for a couple of days then a couple more before they could send anyone out...

Mine was that the people who owned my house before me used Comcast while I use Verzion. Apparently (according to the Verizon Tech), Comcast, as part of their installation procedures, cuts the wire that Verizon uses for it's services. It's simple to fix but you have to get a Verizon Tech to come out and fix it.
-
"Okay I'll install this right away."
*takes out comically large scissors and snips at an outrageously gigantic cord labeled "Verizon"*
"I'll fix you you right up, heh."
-
That is awsome! Wish verizon had a better customer support now! haha!

UPDATE: My internet is still out, but the story gets weirder.
Yesterday, I call AT&T to find out why the second order for the transfer of service had still not been placed. When I was talking to the orders office, the orders rep goes, "Is there anyone by the name of Dawn that lives at your address by chance?"
I replied, "No, the only names that should be on the account should be mine or my wife's."
Here's some background. When I moved to Milwaukee in August of 2007, I got the phone number I still currently have. My DSL has always been attached to the number. I've moved twice in Milwaukee in three years - back in August of 2008 and now. I've kept the same number both times I moved.
Apparently in August 2008, AT&T "assigned" my number to some woman named "Dawn." "Dawn's" name now appears first on the account, which is why they cannot complete a transfer of service order. I'm now in the process of trying to find out - which finding out anything from AT&T is a feat - if I've been paying for double service for two years, which means I'm also looking for a good small claims lawyer.
-
If you where Harrison Ford, you could hit the streets, find Dawn, and get your service back. Meanwhile, AT&T would capture your wife so then you and Dawn, who is apparently as much a victim as you, would have to mount a dearing rescue.
I should write that script.

UPDATE 2: I still don't have internet service at home and probably won't for another week. The good news is that I now have a year free.
-
Did you ever wonder why your bills were so high?

My bills never seemed high at the time from what we were quoted. In retrospect, though...
