: RPPRifftrax
: Joven July 12, 2010, 11:33:11 PM
What with the RPPR crew's appreciation of Rifftrax, and since they already have some decent recording equipment, soothing radio voices, and something approximating a sense of humor, I wonder if there'd ever be a possibility of them making an iRiff - http://www.rifftrax.com/iriffs (http://www.rifftrax.com/iriffs). I know I'd buy that for a dollar! (or $1.99 or whatever)

Also if you've come across iriffs before and didn't know if there were any worth the money, the RiffRaffTheater guys are really good (especially Speed and Die Hard), and the Hor-RIFF-ic and Quip-Tracks ones are pretty good (especially Halloween III and Mission Impossible II).

This idea was kicked around at one point, but nothing came of it.

yeah I want to do it but it requires a shit load of work to do - if we do it, the D&D movie will be the first one to be riffed.

Sounds pretty fucking good to me.

I read at one point that scripts are often if not always written, so that would probably be the biggest impediment to the work...

yeah that is the exact reason I haven't done it yet. Writing a script would take a long time.

Save Against Frostbite did some for the Legend of Zelda cartoon unscripted and I thought it was fantastic.  I say do it either way.

It's possible yes, but the more people, and the longer the subject, the tougher it is to get consistent or even humor...

I think that's why we balked. Because we didn't have time to get together and brainstorm ideas for the movie and then write a script and then record it.

I don't think a script would necessarily be required, not a full script anyway, just an outline kinda thing.
something like -
15:02 - generic INT stat remark.
15:11 - Say something about lol :3.
15:22 - bj joke
15:32 - about the stupid kill
...
54:05 - lament about shit eating monster.

The translation to all of this is that we make lots of plans that fall through because, at times, we can be really lazy.

I know that this comes as a shock to many of you.

so basically
1. Make plans
2. Make Ross do it
3. Ross won't
4....?
5. Profit!

I was willing to help out too. Ross is busy, so I'm more than happy to help.

if they're as hilarious as the fanfic readings it's all good.

I know a podcast that did a few movie commentaries that were simply live. Obviously, not near Rifftrax level of consistent funny, lots of dead moments, but also some great comments and reactions and forged runnign gags.

Seems to me that if you can just get together and have a dry run that gets recorded, you'll not only perhaps figure out potential material on the spot (and of course the five mnute later 'that was the joke' moments would occur) but it might give you the enthusiasm to actually do a script and make a tighter second run to submit to Rifftrax.

At the very least, the raw mp3 would be a sop to the RPPR community and mean you don't have to do a proper show if you posted that! :D

I'm not sure when this ever sounded like a good idea for me to create (specially since i suck at creating anything), but whatever, the baby is shaken the damage is done.

That was pretty funny.  I would imagine if someone had nothing to do, there is plenty of audio and could work something like that into a pretty polished piece...

Oooooor...the guys could realise how cool it would be to do a rifftrax themselves O.O

*I also forgot how truly terrible D&D was. I had even blanked out that entire scene of over-acting in my mind*

Just so everyone knows, I just wrote my first joke for our rifftrax from watching this clip alone. I wrote, "Looks like somebody gave Bobby Drake a BJ."
