'Bout damn time. So, who wants to weigh in on what's happened in the past 7 months?
I'm betting Slendy's after Jay for real now.

MOAR TALK ABOUT MH LESS TALK ABOUT PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GOOD OP

anyway

Jessica

what the fuck is her deal? She is obviously connected to Slender Man and I am guessing she wants information from Jay - possibly she is looking for someone abducted by Slender Man and thinks Jay knows about it.

post your theory here

Ya, I think she's there to keep tabs on Jay.

I have this strange theory that Jay has become the new ark.

I think Jessica could possibly be a Slender Man avatar.

I think the question really is what are the noises come from Jessica's room at night that are captured by Jay's camera?

I had a hard time hearing them - most of what I could make out sounded like bed springs, or someone knocking on something.

Was it just the one night's worth of sounds in the video? I wonder if someone was bringing in/removing equipment.

Also, any thoughts on what Jay was supposed to be doing the day he woke up and had his memories back? Or was that event a planned one?

Can't help but notice that so far, there's no evidence of any recordings from the lost 7 months...yet he had a night security camera set up and a camera strapped to his chest the day he woke up. Fully clothed, too. Intriguing.

Maybe it's just late but I don't remember seeing the face of the girl that had the camcorder when there was the Slenderman attack on Alex in Entry #26.

Maybe she's Alex's girlfriend or someone looking for Alex that may have seen Jay in a picture that belonged to Alex?

Its not the same girl. Also when he first went to Brian's? house, did anyone find it odd that after knocking he tries the door knob and then cases the house to find a way in? All he had was a tip and things were still sort of normal at this point so why the heck is he breaking into someone's house?

Not the same girl - we get a good shot of her in #26 right before we see Alex, and then right before Slendy attacks. She's blond and her face is much different.
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Robot Master December 08, 2010, 10:07:46 PM
...damnit. I was this close to getting PROPS. I didn't have time to check the idea before I left for work, so thanks to the guys that did. I watched the two different clips just a few minutes ago. Yeah, Alex's "girlfriend" was blonde with chipmunk cheeks. Jessica is brunette and has a longer face.

Either way I'll be interested to see if Alex's girlfriend shows up, seeing as how Alex was doing the whole "you run I'll be right behind you" thing.

I'm going to type while I work an idea out here...

So all of Jay's memory loss episodes all seem to involve actual contact with totheark, where as everyone seems to get sick around Slender Man. So...

1. Has anyone considered whether or not "totheark" is actually Alex, Brian, or Tim? All of them have gone missing. Alex's "help me" video is directed at Jay using the same medium that totheark is posting videos. All four characters have dark hair, but Jay has been seen in screen with totheark at the same time, so what if totheark is someone that's been taken that's trying to communicate with Jay? The wiki for MH says that totheark is almost certainly Tim, which seems to be a conclusion drawn from the hairstyle and the jacket type worn by Tim in other clips.

Now Alex has officially gone from missing to something worse, so perhaps Alex is going through the same process that totheark went through? the totheark entries on the wiki are pretty interesting to read.

My money is on Jessica being somehow connected to one of the actors involved in Marble Hornets, and that she recognized Jay perhaps from pictures or video she received from someone now missing that's become involved.

Body type's all wrong. Alex isn't as stocky or short as Masked dude, and in Ep 19 he's wearing Tim's sweatshirt. Assuming totheark = Masked dude, then my money's on Tim.

Oh hells yeah. I've been coming up with some crazy theories, I need validation or evidence to blow them out of the water.

For instance: totheark - instead of breaking the name down to mean "to the 'ark'", what if it means "to the 'ARK'"? (How much you want to bet that Alex Kralie's middle name starts with an 'R'?)

Plus, since it is possible that totheark =/= masked dude, what if totheark is a persona Jay's developed fight-club-style to combat Slendy's memory fuckery?

CRAZY

Damn, that just blew my fucking mind. I just woke up 4 minutes ago and am getting the ole ipod ready for work.

I like those theories a lot, actually. Especially the "totheark" one. Maybe if totheark is Tim, he's helping Jay try to find Alex? I think that's where I'm standing on. I think that totheark isn't actually a bad guy. I think that he's trying to help.

I also thought to myself that the camera that's been strapped to Jay's chest was probably put there to record when he does his sleepwalking. I'd bet the shirt on my back that he's going to find another cache of recording tapes that cover what he recorded with that chest-cam over the course of 4-6 months and that those tapes are going to be the main "dangled carrot" in the new season.

I've been kind of following this thread and have watched Marble Hornets. One thing I noticed in entry 29 was the camcorder in the videotape. Does that mean that entry 29 was made with a chest cam while the filmer was also carrying a hand camera? Just struck me as odd.

I just had a thought, maybe too crazy of one, but it's an early morning thought.

What if Jay's experiences are happening out of order, just like the film footage? What if totheark is Jay trying to protect himself while he's sleepwalking? For example:

The doors at the old house led to different places while Jay was sleepwalking, and one of the doors had "totheark's" mask, right? So what if totheark at the old house was Jay while he was sleepwalking? What if the people filmed with the cameras are getting stuck in some sort of out of time way that allows them to be in two places at once?

Just a thought.

Well there's a few things this theory runs up against - for one, the doors first go to different places when Jay ISN'T "sleepwalking" (at Brian's house.) ((There's also not much evidence that he was actually sleepwalking. He doesn't remember. That doesn't necessarily imply sleepwalking.)) This implies to me that it's not the filming which causes the door changes. The simplest explanation for this is that the Operator is causing it. Masky is apparently human, we're not sure if we've ever seen totheark but he is probably human, and the Operator is clearly NOT human.
I have a friend who put forward a theory that the Operator has control over the "moment of uncertainty" that occurs when a door is opened - essentially that he can substitute destinations for doors. This would explain "Return" and the crazy antics in Brian's house that cause Jay to end up in the SlenderBasement.

But what if? I mean think of it. The whole thing is time dilated and upside down, so there's nothing actually saying that totheark at Brian's house wasn't some temporally fucked up Jay warding Jay away from the house? The whole thing is about trying to put together what happened, but it's also about trying to figure out which pieces of film fall into which time sequence. What if the big "woah" that they're going for, horror wise, is that it's always been an assumption that the footage we've been seeing during the Jay portion of the investigation wasn't actually filmed by Jay? That would explain the camera strapped to his chest. The perspective of the footage (ala entry 29) now creates a point of view in which we can possibly attach a cameraman to certain footage. There's lots that Jay doesn't remember.

If Jay doesn't remember six months or anything about his encounters with totheark, then how can we prove that he himself is not totheark?

The only reason I'm digging this theory is because if I hadn't thought of it and that's exactly what they ended up doing in MarbleHornets, I'd shit myself when I found out that Jay IS totheark. If I were writing this I'd may totheark actually turn out to be Jay. "Waaat? Oh yes, viewers, this rabbit hole done go down deep"

I dunno, but there's something awfully "negative side of the film" about totheark's "design" as a character that makes me feel healthy about this theory. Tim and Jay have/had similar haircuts but the Tim character has been pretty much left by the wayside. I can't wait to see the next bit of film with totheark involved, because I'm totally going to be looking to see if there's any evidence that supports this half-cocked theory of mine.

Y'know...this would provide a pretty good reason for "Exit", the totheark video where he's filming Jay looking for tapes in Alex's car. That's the only video (or so it seems) that takes place back in 2006 when Alex was being stalked by Slendy.

Shit. Shit shit shit. So this video now raises a question in which my own personal issues with people on the internet has to be leveraged against how awesome I think Marble Hornets is. I really hope this isn't some jackass taking what Marble Hornets is doing and trying to hijack some portion of the storyline. On one hand I don't see why the guys at MH would give such a massive, gigantic bit of information away while their show is building mystery around the character of Jessica. Would the internet give us some dude making a MH documentary that gets in the way? Hell yeah.

I'm giving it a 50/50 chance that this is a part of the "MH" viral because this was just so good, but the other side of the coin is that this is just some sort of internet dude getting in the way and trying to get attention for his additions to something that someone else is doing.

It's been a day or two so I'm double posting because I just realized something.

Jay should ask Jessica something along the lines of "Oh hey, is there a four digit number you can come up off of the top of your head that might open a goddamned safe?"

Oh hell yeah. One of my friends joked that maybe the 'noises' coming from her room involve her scratching the number over and over into the wall.

: clockworkjoe January 17, 2011, 01:40:44 PM
I'm sure the hotel staff could open a safe in your room if you forgot your combination number. Of course, given the paranoia Jay feels by now, I can buy that he wouldn't think to ask.

Yeah. Plus, there's no way of telling if there's anything incriminating in the safe.

What if the safe is full of dildoes? Dildos? Well...the spell check on the forum says it's "Dildos" people. I guess that makes it official that the plural of dildo is Dildos.

That or jay should just check out, then the front desk will go into the safe and put his contents in a box and call his cell phone, letting him know that the contents of his safe are at the desk and can be shipped at cost to him. That's how that works, right?

Time for more interactive Marble Hornets action. I still haven't replaced my light in my den because I've been sick so I'm doing my morning emails thing in a dark room. I'm going to watch and type at the same time...

Start Video...

...dresser. click x on the ad...why'd she close the fucking door? fuckin women I swear. pause at :56 and tell kiddo that I know he's faking it and has to go to school today. He closes the door behind him. Totally in the dark now. Resume...hahaha I knew she had the four digit number...nevermind. Try it backwards jackass. Wait...is that her code or his. OH SNAP! Christmas. WTF AAAAAAAAA that was BADASS. Judo kick that motherfuck.

I totally jumped in my seat at that one.

I'm right behind you on that one, didn't figure it'd be the masked guy though. For some reason I kinda thought it'd be Jessica in a Hollywood-shock-fakeout way.
So I toyed with the idea of posting this in the RPG board with a new thread all it's own, and maybe I will if the conversation persists, but I just wanted to throw out there that I ran "Fear Itself: Slender Man" last night. I introduced them to the system gave them a crash course with some quick character creation and we were off.

It went great! I had a 5 man group so we invented the fictitious character of the sound guy to cover reasons why each character was involved with the project. None of my friends listen to RPPR nor did I tell them more than that I was running a game based off a game based off of Slender Man and that they are a film crew doing a documentary on Fiddlers Green and the missing kids.

One of my friends is pretty much already freaked out by Slender Man, so he wanted in immediately he demanded nothing but serious in character role playing for the duration. We deviated once or twice but for the most party we were running in top gear for 4 hours.

I was in pretty good shape to run the game I had listened to the AP 3 times this past week just to make sure, I love the Fear Itself system, so great for horror games...

Either way there were some amusing deviations from what I was expecting, especially because instead of saying gee lets get some Indians to kill the Cowboy the sound guy and camera man(playing nerd tech guys from the start) decided to unleash Darth Vader on the poor hapless cowboy. After that point things started to get a little funny, and the players actually went out of their way to save Zachary(I think that was his name....the teenage girls friend.) Also one of the players ended up failing a fleeing check during the chase by Slender Man, so the Sound Guy was grabbed, at this point I started to wing it because I didn't know what to do so I had him vanish.

They slowed Slender Man down with footage of the Hitler giving a speech to the Nazi Army, I thought it was inventive so I let it buy them some time, the camera man was panicking and kept failing his mechanics checks to fix a projector or tv to play the footage on, so on his second to last turn he manages to get it running and they realize they have a little bit of time so they go through some of the footage they had taken of the basement and pull the sound guy out of it. Thus I ruled that they were able to pull him through with no memory of anything that had happened, then they made good their escape.

My two favorite things about this ending.

The Sound Guy was of the skeptic archetype so him loosing the memory was pretty much perfect.

The producer was greedy just like Tom's character, and without any coaxing from me, he made the movie.(He had also lost nearly all his Sanity he was sitting on a negative 4 when we ended the game.)

I know it's long and probably belongs in the Anecdote thread but I figured the Marble Hornets thread would appreciate it more than a general anecdote.

Did they manage to save the kids at all?
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Flawless P February 06, 2011, 04:25:00 PM
Yeah they pulled the Kids and the teenager out.

Oh and they never lost the camera bag, the producer blocked the door open with his shoe, which he lost.
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Robot Master February 07, 2011, 08:54:34 AM
You should keep their characters and run a few other adventures with those characters. Then, when the guy that lost his shoe least expects it, he wakes up in the middle of the night with his shoe laying on his chest in bed...

: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Robot Master February 16, 2011, 08:57:29 AM

Was that Alex that was with Jay?

I really liked this entry because it completely destroys the timeline. This could be during the five months he lost in his memory, or even a part of the time he lost in season one.

Then again, if you really think about it, if he really did lose his memory and can't remember any of this this could be stuff that happened prior to the entire series starting. I give this entry a B.
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Salkovich February 16, 2011, 12:42:53 PM
Yeah, the lack of context is pretty annoying. I'm tempted to think that this is right after Entry #34 -
this right here would explain why he didn't update at all when it actually happened.

For everyone missing our dear long-limbed friend, look carefully at Entry #35.
Namely, look around 1:32.  Very faint visual tearing at the bottom of the screen, Slendy's trademark.
I did like that the trend started with Entry #33 and the Maglite bitch slap has continued.  Let an animal run and they will flee, corner an animal and they will fight.

Every thing after the Entry where J found the tapes in the safe takes place before the start of season 2. That's why you'll see Masky with a limp when he attacks J in the hotel.

GO READ HIS TWITTER PAGE. The night before this got posted, Jay couldn't remember his password and then got
very clearly slenderized. Headaches leading to hearing things which lead to his last tweet of the night being "sllee pn.ow"

EDIT: ALSO. Alex's Birthday is April 4th. That's the date that Entry #26 occurred (the attack on Alex.)
ALSO ALSO if you look at the time stamp on the video when Slendy appears, it goes back to 1891, jumps to 1900, 1944, etc etc. Creepy as fuck shit.

I feel  a lot like I'm watching Season 3 of Lost all over again.

"Hey, you know what'd be great? If we introduced a whole bunch of random shit that we don't explain. It would totally work. People would be so hooked."

The past three episodes have been so bad I wish I hadn't watched them. Hell, there might have been one good episode in the most recent series.

Should have just ended it with a satisfactory conclusion. All the new episodes with the characters talking to each other just seem wrong. It was better when it was silent, isolated, and freaky. With the only mystery being Slendy and I guess the mask guy. Who they still havn't fuckign explained!

I hate it when they talk. The acting was fine when they didn't interact with anything but the world around them and slendy. Now they talk to each other and it's shit.

Lost died when they left the Island. There is no way the creators knew what they were doing(we had this all planned from the start..bullcrap). They had one good idea, ran with in then got their egos inflated and tried to show how clever they were.

I'm going to call BS on this. They explained maybe a quarter of the original plot threads. The ones they realized they couldn't explained they just didn't come back to.

: Ryo August 26, 2011, 12:04:35 PM
Also what does them explaining a few things matter when they were just pulling it out of their ass? If you look at the first few seasons then look at the last few, they clearly 'lost' whatever spark they had tapped into.
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: clockworkjoe August 26, 2011, 02:39:59 PM
okay here's the rather extensive lost wiki http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

you tell me what they didn't explain.

Also the last season had callbacks and explanations for even minor things like Adam and Eve http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Adam_and_Eve

Just because you didn't like it after the first few seasons doesn't mean they didn't explain it.

I agree. LOST can go throw itself down a well. And if Marble Hornets continues the same trends, it can too.

The only question I really have is concerning the encounter in the hotel room.  After watching it twice it looked like Jay was being pulled towards the Slenderman but Tom think he may have been attempting to tackle him.

being pulled towards seems more likely although I have no doubt that Tom would attempt to tackle Slender Man if given a chance.

Based on the shout/grunt of rage Jay gives out, I think he tried to tackle Ol' Man Slendy.

well i just caught up. Anyway, let's review:

Alex is collaborating/under the control of/allied with the Slender Man. He is also a killer.

Jay wants to investigate the truth behind Marble Hornets/Slender Man. Jay's investigation of Slender Man is definitely something Slender Man does not want.

Tim seems to be a normal guy who wants to be left alone. However, he is also Masky. Masky is opposed to Alex and Slender Man, but obviously distrustful of Jay as well.

Slender Man/the Operator is a supernatural entity with unknown plans and abilities. Definitely malevolent though.

--

Question: Who left the medical dossier on Tim behind for Jay to find? How did Jay get away from Slender Man? Did the doll ward it off?

Question: Who left the medical dossier on Tim behind for Jay to find? How did Jay get away from Slender Man? Did the doll ward it off?

Obviously, hoodie guy left it, but the question is who is hoodie guy. Given the show's general structure so far, I'm betting that hoodie guy is Jessica.

My general problem with the plot structure regards Slenderman's origins. The woods scenes suggest that he was some criminal who had be strung up and left to die. The hospital scenes suggest something different. At some point, one of these two origins has to be shown to be a red herring.

Also after the latest entries have been viewed and your waiting for more Slenderman goodness, try these other fantastic Slendervlogs:
- Everyman Hybrid
- TribeTwelve

- Caughtnotsleeping
- Onehundredyardstare

There are so many more, and I'm slowly going down the list of ARGs from the Slenderman wiki.
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: clockworkjoe March 03, 2014, 07:09:50 PM
do any of those give definitive answers about the cosmology of the story or is it all handwavy bullshit like in MH? We're 82 episodes in and we know next to nothing about Slender Man.
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Review Cultist March 03, 2014, 07:59:23 PM
Yes? sort of... "Tribetwelve", "Everyman Hybrid", and "DarkHarvest00" are all in the same canon, with a conspiracy and cult that worships the tall guy as a god and there are some other worldly pocket dimensional concepts thrown in and shenanigans. I feel they have more of an explanation to the cosmology than "Marblehornets" has presenting but still retains an air of mystery. Outside of "Marblehornets", I've come to find a large number of these other Slendervolgs share the same or common canon that they build on.

"Caughtnotsleeping", while not actually in canon with the others from what I can tell, has a strong use of props and production work, especially in the laer entries. It also shows a conspiracy of people attempting to stop the Slenderman.

"Onehundredyardstare" is similar but starts fast and jumps to multiple victims of slenderman encounters as if it's a disease. You can also view the current number of entries of this series in like 2 hours? they are really quick videos.

: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: clockworkjoe March 04, 2014, 12:34:38 AM
basically my questions are:

1. Are any of these complete?

2. Am I just going to be jerked around the entire time because nothing is resolved?
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Review Cultist March 04, 2014, 02:43:48 AM
1. No
2. This one is hard to answer, for me anyway. They are still ongoing and at least three of these series have stopped after some serious stuff has gone down, but then they've started up again with more progression to the plots. some answers have been gained but then more questions have filled they're place.

"5zer02" is really the only one I've seen yet that has a (so far) definite finish but it's the kind of ending that you get from "Blair Witch Project".

Personally, I love the rides these series provide, though if you want a definite end with answers to the entire Mythos solved, that's not going to happen? They give more explanation to Slenderman and expand the Mythos but as to anything like resolving the problem or defeating Slenderman, haven't seen a series yet that has done that. there might be one out there I just haven't seen.
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: clockworkjoe March 04, 2014, 02:54:57 AM
Marble Hornets has taken up a lot of time and there hasn't been any kind of payoff for it yet. I don't need everything spelled out but eventually I want SOMETHING. If there's a more satisfying take on Slender Man, I'd give it a shot, but if its 40 hours of wheels spinning - foreshadowing with no payoff, then ehhhhhh
: Re: The Official Marble Hornets Thread
: Review Cultist March 04, 2014, 03:17:27 AM
Well, it is a lot of videos to go through (I understand about MarbleHornets, it's a very long run with very little major payoff in one shot). It seems the characters of Tribetwelve, Everyman Hybrid, and Darkharvest00 are connected to some big plan or purpose. They are chased or stalked by Slenderman and a cult that worship him almost to the extent of a Cthulhu cult, murdering and kidnapping as they see fit, and then there are some other forces at work that make themselves known. Some major revelations have occurred, and some grim dark events (like Shit got so real and not in a very paranormal way!) have come up and they seem to be coming to a head in the at least near future. I'd say for the content they are providing, they seem more satisfying about giving you payoffs on the Slenderman mythos, even if they may not fully grasp the tall guys nature or motives.

If you want to get a little more info before maybe checking them, the Slenderman-Wiki is quite handy: http://theslenderman.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Top_5
