I feel it was long overdue, but now that hedonism senator has been unleashed on the world, it is time to give Thaddeus his own fan club thread.
I'll start...
Having run "Dangers of Fraternization" 5 times now, I will forever be disappointed in anybody playing the hard-bitten Sgt. that isn't Thad. Nobody fucking COMMITS to a character quite so much, and I'm thrilled he has joined the group. I hope one day he'll run a game for us so I can get a whole cast of Thad NPC's all at once.
Alright, anyone else want to continue the Thad love?

However, I don't love him. I only love Tom Church. I Like Thad.

It's extremely entertaining to have someone who absolutely dives into their character without making that character into something annoying. Some players will develope a flaw or a quirk for their character and never let it go, thinking it makes them colorful when it simply makes them unbearable.
Thad finds a balance that works, making his character's flaws and quirks noticeable and enjoyable without intruding on the game. In addition he is quick witted and willing to say silly things for the sake of his character, which makes him quite humorous.
So, yes, hurray Thad.

my mental image of Fae-Yin is imprecise but glowing with color. she's too glamorous for me to concoct a specific picture of. I can hear her brow furrow and see her kind of pretending not to notice while still occasionally glancing back with a hyperbitchy supermodel "...what? uh, mmkay." look on her face every time the Know Evil boys say or do something insane or murderous.
and yeah the Aldo Raine take-off in Fraternization was fucking peerless from start to finish and was the moment I realized I need Thad and Caleb to have a Kirk/Spock marshmallow sparring battle to determine where my affections truly lie.
it's interesting the way the styles of the English-background players differ from the film-background players. it's almost like Caleb and Thad think more in terms of character arcs for their PCs than do the rest of the group, or maybe just improvisationally reveal their characters more gradually than do more up-front, straightforward players. when I first heard that episode whree Ghost Robot was being flustered with the cops, I thought it was Thad himself just pulling an Aaron and not knowing what to say. took more familiarity with his style to realize that, no, that was fuckin Ghost Robot being a really real person, and that that flusterment was all part of his robattitude. so much good.

After listening to Thad's Sergeant Durant, I feel like a tiny roleplaying babby from what I remember of playing the same character at my GenCon session. Quite possibly the highest number of consecutive quotable/memorable lines of any PC in any RPPR actual play to date. Well done, sir.
Disclaimer: I haven't listened to all of Cthulhu Invictus so this means I don't know the full glory of Hedonism Senator.

Love Thad. Hes the kind of roleplayer I wish to be.
It was weird though, because for the longest time I always pictured Thad as kind of like a Suave Jame-bond looking guy always in suits and whatnot. Low and behold both RPPR vids ive seen involve Thad in a suit jacket of some sort. Good Job Brain. Good Job.

Yeah, I basically wear blazers and sportcoats all the time. I was never a particularly great magician, but the one thing I learned from it was that you can never have too many pockets.

Anyway, sorry about the sustained silence. I have a difficult time dealing with compliments, as I tend to assume anybody being overly nice to me is trying to lull me into a false sense of security as part of an ongoing conspiracy to steal my liver...
But once I get past that, I do appreciate the comments.
The RPing crew I grew up with tended to focus pretty heavily on character development/interaction (all writers and/or actors)... and I'm just generally a sucker for voices. Especially in the case of such extreme types as Sgt. Durant and Hedonism Senator, the right voice just makes the one-liners happen.
