: What do you want the RPPR crew to try out?
: clockworkjoe May 18, 2009, 02:05:44 AM
Thinking of running some one shots and/or another campaign since summer is now here. Any suggestions as to what that should be?

BURNING WHEEL!

I hear so many people talk about this game (podcasts) but have yet to hear any actual plays.

Anima: Beyond Fantasy. Quite complex, alot of strange new names for fairly familiar concepts. Combinations of vasty different systems of play.

The game looks interesting, I haven't been able to run one because it'd mean teaching my players a new game and more than half of them barely understand what we're playing right now.

Also the creators used everything I'd been thinking of using in a game I wanted to design and then published years ahead of me, the bastards. Now I have to think of something else. Well okay not literally everything but the underlying melee combat rules are very similiar to a design I was working on. Not the same, just similiar enough to make me bitter and spitful that they had a good idea years before I did.

Mutants and Masterminds. At least a single actual play. That shit would be bomb.

You should totally run 'Maid'~ Just to hear maybe Cody and Tom butcher the Maid~Master genre.

Monsters and Other Childish Things!  Please!  Pretty please with sugar and sacrifices on top?

I'd like to hear more Delta Green, but I understand you have a lot of CoC coming up.

not going to pay for anima or maid. I'll ask the publishers for a review copy. If I get one, I'll run it. Any others?

Well, you could just post a lot of that huge backlog you have. :D

Well steal Tom's CthulhuTech books and run a game of that then.

Aww...no Burning Wheel for dragon...

oh yeah, forgot about burning wheel. I do want to get that.

anyway, as for the actual play posting rate - I have a plan to create a weekly AP podcast feed once Tom starts recording his games.

Main RPPR Feed: Episodes, interviews, comedy, New World Campaign. posted on a biweekly rate on average.

RPPR AP feed: All other AP feeds, including guest AP feeds, posted on a weekly rate.

Yay!  So going by that we may get '2' podcasts in one week?!

My vote is for Paranoia -- it's great for a one-shot, and I think it'd be hilarious to listen to an AP of the RPPR crew gleefully sabotaging and blasting away at each other.

That said, Paranoia sometimes relies on a lot of note-passing, so maybe that wouldn't work so well ...

You should realy run a Lightspeed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XEFTAV4Y4s&feature=channel_page) game. It's a game that not only can you play any sci-fi setting you want, but it's core and supplments are realy cheap. In the good way.

Here's there website: www.lightspeed-rpg.com (http://www.lightspeed-rpg.com)

Ross needs to save the Paranoia game until Karee and I know if we can make it to Springfield over the summer or not.

Not that your bias or anything, right?

Ross, you've got the perfect players to give HOLLOW EARTH EXPEDITION a trial run. It's "Indiana Jones meets Jurrasic Park"!

And I think if you request a review copy for an actual play to be recorded for a podcast will earn you a free copy of the book, and maybe even some of the extras.

Ross, I have a copy of Anima, and was wanting to run a campaign out of it, but I had a lack of players at the time.  I could be down for trying my hand at it with a solid group of people who would like to crunch numbers. (although if it were more than a 1-shot, that would bring my weekly game count to 4... ugh)

Play a tech user and you can! Much of the system around martial arts powers involves making up your own moves.

Uhm, aside from Dan's Darkspiral being totally hilarious everytime, I'd have to say I really want to hear Tom run a game.

I can't believe I haven't seen this yet (did I miss a posted AP?):

Reign

I've been interested in Reign for quite a while, but I haven't had a group for four years now.

Technically the adventures of Santa Claus was in Reign but the organization/company rules weren't used.

Just so you know, I have a plugin that sets us up as a referrer for all links to Amazon. We get a few percent of any sales made as a result. That has net us almost enough money to purchase one used copy of a classic game that I know all of you will want to hear us play: The World of Synnibarr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_of_Synnibarr

I just ordered it and I will fucking run it before the end of this summer AND IT WILL BE GLORIOUS

Do a World of Darkness game, old or new, doesn't matter. I'd prefer either Orpheus or Hunter: The Vigil. Or hey, just run a Mortals game.

I have a friend who will be running a one-shot of Hunter the Vigil in a few weeks.  As far as other WoD games, I've been trying to get the group interested in it.  I know Tom's on board...he loves Werewolf, but I just need to convince the rest of 'em.

I'd love to hear some WoD actual plays be they oWoD or nWoD, mostly to get a feel for how other folks run the system.
I've only ever been in a couple games of either and neither of them were very long running.
: Re: What do you want the RPPR crew to try out?
: Jason June 01, 2009, 05:40:18 PM
Well, hopefully I can make the wish come true.  oWoD was the only system I ever felt comfortable running...however, it has been a long time since I ran a successful game (basically since High school).  I've tried since then, but I think I'm just a better player than a GM.  But I'll give it a shot if the others jump on board.  *crosses fingers*  I just hope I can run a decent game.

World of Darkness is a favorite of mine. But then I'll listen to anything to drown out the people around me, so don't go by me.

Ross, that is beautiful.

I think Wilderness of Mirrors would be awesome to hear you guys try out.  All Flesh Must Be Eaten would be really cool, too (or hell, anything with zombies).

As a side note, I demand everyone go listen to the Bear Swarm! Actual Play of InSpectres (http://www.bearswarm.com/actual-play-inspectres-82008).  America Van Buren has my vote.

I believe a new world primer conversion  to world of synnibarr conversion is needed, only because there would probably be a stat called "Frog Snatch"

For you know, the ability to catch frogs.  Amiright?

Also that Elk seems a little sickly.  Only 1004 hit life points.  Geez

I find it weird that there's not a previous mention of Shadowrun, but I'd love to hear a decent actual play of SR4.
And while I'm bringing up Catalyst, is Cthulhutech as hokey and absurd as it sounds, or does it have some miraculous saving trait I didn't know about?
