Characters and Questions go here. (http://slangdesign.com/forums/index.php?topic=408.msg6454#msg6454)

You open your eyes and see blue sky. You are on your back.

There is sand to your left and right. You feel water around your feet.

What do you do?

Smoke monster wakes up. He has had a very bad night after huffing paint fumes. This is not LOST island. It is a different island.

He looks around the beach for signs of where this island might be.

SMOKE MONSTER

Smoke monster wakes up. He has had a very bad night after huffing paint fumes. This is not LOST island. It is a different island.

He looks around the beach for signs of where this island might be.

The island is clearly devoid of crashed planes. There are trees with large leaves behind the Smoke Monster and clear blue water in front of his. White sand is to his left and his right, unless he turns around in which case he would have white sand to his right and left. The beach curves around the trees in a shallow bend. The water curves around the sand in a sharp bend. Yet the width of the beach appears to remain constant.

Smoke Monster can use Plot Device to force things to advance by force. His surroundings currently do not Make Sense so his skill in that area may also be useful.

Raphael is able to easily identify this as an Unexplored Place. This is right up his alley!

Cold dark blue water and white capped waves crash against the rock beach on which Raphael stands. Trees with long green needles stand behind him and the rock beach extends to his left and right. A line of larger than normal rocks is visible some distance down the beach to the left.

Raphael recognises that his beach is similar to those of the Pacific Northwest, a region of the world which stopped being unexplored sometime ago (in other words a waste of time for a master like Hythloday).

Ten meters across the water is another island which appears to have white sand on it. There is clearly not a Smoke Monster on the section of the island that Raphael can see.

Erik brushes black volcanic ash from his meaty flank, taking no time to survey his surroundings, and quickly spies a tree worth butting.

Erik now has tree bark on his forehead. He also successfully knocks 3d6 roasted chestnuts from the tree, which drop into the ash around him.

Erik gains great sustenance from the richly roasted meat of the nuts. He is not at all surprised that roasted chestnuts fell out of a tree when he headbutted it. The feast is so through and the nuts so plentiful that Erik will not need to eat again for several hours. The bits of shell he swallows with the meat only helps to fill his gut.

Erick is now well prepared for the trials which surely await him.

The pine trees are a wealth of curvy branches and pine needles, which are excellent for constructing shealter and providing bedding. Unfortuntally, Raphael knows that curvy branches are vitually useless without some straight branches and pine trees don't have many of those. Of course, trees on volcanic islands are known to be exceptional for growing straight branches.

For the time being, Raphael can huddle quite well in the hallow of a tree. But it's just not as nice as it could be.

Oh, and there's a pile of canned goods in the hallow too. Kind of weird that.

As the final notes of Fanboy's commands fade away, the dry yellow sand around him shivers and nearly errupts with dozens of tiny red and gray crabs. More crabs crawl their way out of the perfectly still pitch-black waters just behind Fanboy, carrying long lengths of kelp which they fashion into a passable (and very wet) pair of slacks with matching sports coat.

The initial flood of crabs moves quickly into the massive patch of cactus plants which stand infront of Fanboy, returning with a large armload of purple and pink cactus fruits and a crown fashioned to look like crab claws which they appear to have crafted from cactus thorns.

Fanboy's masterful use of his announcer voice appears to have subjugated the native crab population on this island and they are attempting to crown him their king.

Fanboy figures being wet is better than being naked, and quickly dons the clothes. He then looks at the crown while deciding whether or not to take on such a large responsibility. Fanboy's crab subjects rejoice. They express their happiness in crab fashion: walking sideways. This is also how crabs communicate. Conversing with the king is left to the former high chancilor, who skuttles up to Fanboy, raises his claws, and walks sideways. Fanboy may require an interperitor to assist in communication of his new authority.

Discovering that he is in a pickle, Fanboy tries to think of a way to get through to his subjects. Since he did spend time being around ninjas in the world of Synnibar, Fanboy attempts to communicate telepathically with the crabs with his Ninja-ing skill. If that fails he will attempt to find a translator, wherever he thinks one might be.

Fanboy's telepathic efforts, while well trained, where not designed to work on tiny crabs. The high chancilor's crab body explodes from the internal stain of human thought, leaving a tiny spot of black sand and one claw.

The other subjects walk sideways in panic.

Jungle Jim is disapointed in the only cloud in the sky. He sits up and begains to scout his surrounding area, after wiping the sand from his bear ass.

Once Jim has wiped the sharp gravel from his ass he discovered he is standing on a beach of sharp gravel. Trees with small, round, green leaves stand behind him and dead calm water which is so salty it appears to be white.

Ten meters across the dead water Jungle Jim can see an island with a volcano at its center, a forest of leafless trees, and a beach of black ash.

Erik the Viking

Erik knows that settlements that are easy to pillage are on the beach.  He picks a random direction and starts walking down the beach.

Following Viking instinct, Erik sets off to his left, down the black ash beach. After five minutes he has not discovered any pillagable settlements but he can now see another island about ten meters across the water, which Erik now notes is very thick and nasty, likely due to the massive amount of ash and sultur being pumped into it by the volcano, which Erik is fairly sure he should have noticed sooner and will make sure to tell people he totally saw the entire time, should he be forced to recount this story.

The other island appears to have a beach of sharp gravel on it and trees with small, round, green leaves. A naked man is standing on the beach, looking at Erik.

Jungle Jim grabs some good small sharp rocks to help in any future bone carvings. Jungle Jim does not like his island, its not like the jungles hes used too, but hes very glad hes not on the volcano island infront of him. Jungle Jim starts to walk stright back into the round leaf jungle hoping to come across another beach on the other side. He scouts for large bones or small ones as he walks threw the trees.

Jungle Jim enters the trees and discovers that there is grass and small plants rather than sharp gravel under their shade. The trees are all between one and ten meters tall with many round green leaves and no visible fruit or flowers.

As Jim moves inland the smell of the ocean fades away and the smell of trees replaces it. After half an hour Jim detects a vaguly familiar smell. It smells almost, but not quite like, zebra and its coming for behind a large tree ahead.

Inspection reveals a single horse which is grazing on grass. It is currently upwind of Jungle Jim, hince the smell.

Erik the Viking

Erik the Viking watches the naked man walk into the forest, and begins yelling, partially because he enjoys yelling, and partially because he wants to get the man's attention.  This is a very strange island.  Erik hopes he doesn't bump into any Smoke monsters.  Smoke monsters are fresh on his mind, because his cousin told him a very confusing story recently, about some folk on a peninsula, where there was a smoke monster who would show up randomly.  It made very little sense, as Erik's cousin was not right in the head and kept talking about finding something.

Erik's impressive yelling is surely heard. If the naked man will respond or not is impossible to know.

However, Erik receives a more direct responce in the form of a starfish which is currently laying in the thick ashy water at Erik's feet.

The starfish is completely immobile and is likely, in the manner of starfish, conveying a welcome to the stranger.

Fanboy attempts to pacify his subjects by also walking sideways in random orders. Hopefully he conveys to his people that the High Chancellor displeased him, and that what he did was entirely on purpose. After his attempts in communication, Fanboy will try to find a translator among the crabs. if there is not one, he will search around in the wildlife for aid.

With application of Applied Ninjaology, King Fanboy conveys a message to his subjects which causes them to seize walking sideways in panic and to begin walking sideways in a more general sense.

A moment later the Vice Chancilor emerges from the crowd to speak with the King. Much sideways is walked before the Vice Chancilor has finished speaking his mind and the crowd walksides in agreement.

Fanboy could really use some translation here.

Acting on his instincts, King Fanboy leaves his beach kingdom to Troll the cactus forest for aid. This does not go very well and Fanboy soon finds himself lost in the cactus forest, cut off from his kingdom, and surrounded by a tribe of wild tiny crabs with big right claws who walk sides in a totally unfamiliar manner. They are apparently enraged by his Trolling.

Their leader, a tough looking crab easily an inch in height, walks sides, clearly demanding an explaination for Fanboy's behavior.

About a half hour later, he comes up to a clearing with the fresh smell of zebra in it! Jungle Jim gets ready and crawls low to the ground stalking the zebra, when in range he will wrestle the zebra to the ground.

Annoyed at this trespassing on his unexplored island, Raphael returns to his tree hollow to plot how to deal with the person or persons who will soon become his subjects.
