This might sound a little weird...but am I the only that thinks Tom's character in Candlewick seems to have shades of Pontifix? I can't place my finger on it but I keep picturing Pontifix behind Tom's kid, rubbing his hands together and saying "Good..good."
-
I take it like all other aps this one is not work place safe?
-
Its one of the more safer ones. but on a side note, unless im wrong which is very posible, I dont think tom was in it.
-
I think he means Pastoral Manor...
While on the subject, I do enjoy Tom being able to play characters like that. At each others throats, which is basically calling yourself an idiot whenever they disagree
-
But since we're on the subject of Candlewick, I really liked Ben's characters. As soon as the groundskeeper appeared, I was trying not laugh loudly at work.
I also think Ross was great in this one, lemmings to kill the mongeese that were killing the snakes!
-
Yes my mistake, I meant Ross. I think its the safest AP thus far. And on that note, I know some people might not like it as much as the others, but I really enjoyed the tutorial format. Hopefully you'll do more like this one, lots of edu-tainment!

Just finished Listing to it. Made me laugh alot.

Yeah I had a question about that, I got the impression at one point that someone was filming or doing a more in depth recording, because of all retroactive changes in explanations (and if I recall correctly, there was a long pause after one such thing and someone said something quietly like "action" before it resumed). Am I just over thinking?
-
I thought they where recording seperately but then the dude mentioned "we're running low on tape" and since I don't think they'd be used cassette tapes to record I assume it was footage for a promotional video or something.

Adult Actual Play "A Long Hard Night at the Candlewick"
You'll come for the tentacle sacrifice, you'll stay for the sausage.

Yeah Shane had a friend record parts of the game on video so they could make promotional videos - I haven't heard the ETA of the videos though.
-
I haven't finished listening, but I'm really enjoying the Candlewick Manor AP so far. Ben Baugh really nails the tone of the game--wicked, horrific comedy--perfectly, and the players ran with all of his fabulous character concepts. I'm pretty sure the next time I've got some spare cash, I'm gonna pick up the MaoCT and the CM books.
The introduction of the groundskeeper was my favorite part so far.
"What are you kids doing here? And in the middle of SNAKE SEASON?!"

I really liked that NPC, I would totally make one of my relationships with him if I was playing in a Candlewick Manor game...

"Here! Take these rags. Tie them around your face.
Then douse them in kerosene !"

Josepi has my vote.
"No it was painless......I mean I had nothing to do with it."
“You pose a dillema now....cooking a really bad man into a meal...I guess that would be alright."

Yeah I think Josepi was a second favorite, possibly with a little more facetime, I would have liked him more...
-
the obsession with the dead guy was great I don't remember who did that but it was fun.
-
After continuing with the AP, I must say, I found the scenes between Giuseppe and the orphans to be just as delightful as those involving the groundskeeper. The players and the GM were all completely on top of their game, which netted the world a few minutes of comedy gold. One of my favorite lines was:
"Why did you hurt the hobo?"
"I didn't hurt him; it was painless! Now get out!"
Oh, lord, I almost fell out of my chair laughing!

I played in a different session of this Candlewick scenario at DragonCon ( I played Sucrose Park with Ross and Kerberos Club with Ben also, all were great fun ). We ended up burning down the whole wing of the manor during our encounter with the snakes. Unfortunately, the groundskeeper did not survive the encounter. Ben was complaining that his voice was going and he would not do the voices, but he kept doing them anyway. I hope he has recovered.
I can't wait for Ross's Road Trip / Summer Vacation to get finished. Sucrose Park is really cool and the AP of Pastoral Manor sounded fun also.
-
Ah that's good to hear from you. I moved a few months ago and I lost the sheet with every player's name and email address unfortunately. When I post that session of Sucrose Park, I'll be able to at least list you.
