: RPPR Fanfic readings
: clockworkjoe January 28, 2010, 11:07:45 PM
Seems you guys like them so I will keep posting them between episodes. Keep posting comments to the site for each one. If you have any comments on how I mixed them, I would be glad to hear from you.

HOWEVER, I only have 3 stories more recorded right now. I'd like to record more but I need to find more terrible fanfic. This is where you come in. My only rules:

1. No porn fanfic. The fanfic can have sex scenes, but it needs to be more than poorly written stroke stories.

2. No Half-life: Full Life consequences stories. The youtube videos are funnier than anything I could ever do soo there's no point in doing that.

3. They need to be connected to gaming in some way or really really terrible.

Yes, they are quite enjoyable and I will be sure to give any feedback on the individual stories.  What is the possibility that they might be a tad longer for most of them (around the 10min mark like My Immortal)?  I know that mixing and recording takes a good amount of work/time, so I understand if they won't necessarily be, I just wasn't sure if you had a goal for about how long to make them.
: Re: RPPR Fanfic readings
: clockworkjoe January 28, 2010, 11:59:47 PM
Yeah, short is better. It's a hell of a lot easier for me to work with one voice and for something thats 15 minutes or less. I also like to try different things which reminds me:

I've been dying to try out the autotune feature of garageband. If you can think of a fanfic that would benefit from a song let me know. I know a few people who can sing and I can probably get some music to back it but I really want to autotune the fuck out of something.

Garageband is fun.  I love messing around with it...

KRALNOR ALL HAIL KRALNOR THE GREATEST WARLOCK IN WORLD OF WARCRAFT HISTORY!

http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Kralnor#The_Book_of_Kralnor

Not sure what you could honestly do with it if anything, but its a good read none the less. Blizzard even made a card after him in there TCG and put a few easter eggs of him on there website.

: Re: RPPR Fanfic readings

So I mentioned this in the comments on My Immortal, but I wanted to check if there would be any way one could listen the raw recording for it.  I think it would be fun/amusing to hear Cody in his own voice (though I understand if there is some reason you don't want to).

Oh and might you record any fanfics in more of a "radio play" style (i.e. with multiple voice actors and some simple sound effects)?

i'll upload a raw version soon

but again, when you add multiple voice actors, you increase the time needed to edit it - and I've found that I will tackle simple stuff far more readily and post it more often than longer stuff - that's why we've done so many episodes and actual plays and so few Ab3 stories.

btw I do have some sound effects in the stories

Yeah, I know that in many ways the difficulty increases almost exponentially, I was just curious about your plans since it seems to be a bit of a new thing (I did notice the sound effects, great job on keeping them simple and enhancing to the story).

unlike some other podcasts, I am always eager to try out new things and experiment with the form.  I think I'm focusing on my work habits and trying to maximize my output without trying to alter my habits. It's all fine and good to set out with a goal like "I will put out a new episode every week. With multiple actors. And sound effects. And music. and video. with cgi animation. and gun fights. and strippers. and blackjack." but when that ambitious goal comes into contact with reality, one of a few things will happen:

1. You keep to your goal, but because you're not comfortable with this level of output, you get burned out and start hating it. Eventually you burn out altogether.

2. You get intimidated by your goal and never finish it.

3. You do some work and promise to finish it but it's so easy to get distracted by other things

Soo, I now want to focus on creating content that syncs up with my work habits.

wait a min. your telling me we could be watching cgi stippers in a black jack casino right now but your just not motivated enough to do it, so instead we get nerds reading fan fiction! SERIOUSLY!

just teasing I love it.
: Re: RPPR Fanfic readings
: rayner23 January 30, 2010, 11:49:40 AM
I don't like the idea of multiple actors performing a fanfic. It's much better for one person to read the story and try different voices.

Please, allow me to take us much credit for things that I haven't done as I can. Allow others to really believe I'm as brilliant as I believe I am in my own mind.

And yet, other than internet cred, I get little to nothing. I should be having girls sending me naked pictures of themselves and guys sending me locks of their hair. At least I'm getting a week in my honor. That's pretty badass . . . hell, it's more than Chocolate Rain has ever gotten.

I found this story through fanfiction.net, and really wish I hadn't.
Just...my god.
Far, far away in a galaxy past the biggest dark hole laid Planet Z.

It was a volcano-like place where only about 300 people lived.

On that very planet a boy and his friends, which names were Wilson, House, Rogue, and Sunny, had no idea that they were going to save Planet Z.

It was when each of them were 19 years old and it was 9016.

The time was 20:00 army time. Wilson and House went

to the armory.

They saw a Golden Plat Blaster 3000 for $300.

Wilson knew he was buying it when he had enough money. House saw a crystal rifle.

"300 shots per second" said House.

"I know" said Wilson.

They looked around. No one was there. House looked out the window. Wilson and House gasped. There was a giant army of monster creatures from the volcanoes. Wilson called the monkey academy.

The monkeys' names were : Doug, Cole, Camden, and Ethan Wilson and House took the weapons and started loading.

Meanwhile, Rouge and Sunny were at the hair salon. They heard the noise. They ran all the way to the armory. They all thought how the monsters could be destroyed. Wilson ran to his plane. A green monster came. Volcanoes blew up and shot fire everywhere, turning the monster into ash.

Wilson thought it was over. Then from the lava came a huge Barlog!(from Lord ofthe Rings!) It carelessly swung its sword back and forth. Wilson took his jetpack and flew off.

The monster was amused that Wilson looiked like an ant. Wilson fired a squirt of water at it.

The Barlog Exploded. Wilson won. It was finally over.

A HUGE BARLOG!
