I bring this up cause I just purchased Savage Worlds: Explorer's Edition, and I'm excited to learn a new game. My intent is to learn it well enough in order to convert Gamma World into a Savage Gamma World! ;D
Who else is trying new games? RPG or board game. What 'cha checkin' out?

Well once i can get my group together (they have been being difficult for the last couple weeks) i plan on trying CoC/BRP and eventually a Mutants and Masterminds game once i get around to writing some stuff up.
I have heard a lot of good about Savage Worlds and have been thinking of trying it out myself. cannot wait to hear how your run with it goes.
I also i have been thinking of trying out the Fallout pnp game, but it seems a bit complicated for my tastes.

Well I was running GURPS for a long while there. Im converting alot of stuff. Ive got a Marvel style campaign going using mutants and masterminds. Ive set it pre-civil war and then Im gonna toss that and the Skrull invasion at them.
mutants and masterminds is really growing on me. its like D&D 3.X meets GURPS. Im just getting use to a few formulas and such. the first two games were real kinda hit and miss with me abandoning the rules half way through and just had them roll the D20 for challenges.
Ive also got a Ghost Hunters GURPS game going that I've converted to Fear Itself. Fear is definatly more roleplaying centered. my players like the point pool and the character creation.
so Ive got somethings for my Combat Monkeys and something for my Roleplay monkeys.

I'm planning to get Mutants and Masterminds soon. I wasn't that much interested but I've heard it being talked about on another podcast and it spiked my interest.

Yeah, I'm intrigued to try out M&M. Now that I have Savage Worlds, I was thinking of giving their particular version of a superpowered game a try, (and I may still will), but now I really want to give M&M a shot.

Just remembered that i also need to try and get my players to try out the L5R RPG. Love the setting sooo much.
Wish I lived in an area that i could play the card game still and try and affect the story line.

sadly I dont know if my gamers have the mental capacity to play a game of monsters and other childish things. the idea that they would be playing as children would be to much for them.

The gamers I know won't even play 4.0 let alone other games. Lame right

Well as we like to say: there's no wrong way to have fun.
Well, accept for all those we've talked about here. And the guys cover on the show.
Infact, there's lots of wrong way to have fun and the gamer's you know sound look narrow minded tools. That might be a little over the top.

Feel free to ask questions about it. It's actually quite easy to get players into roleplaying as kids as everyone has experience being a kid. You just have to get them into the mood and right frame of mind.

I finally got a copy of Call of Cthulhu. It's really old (published 1989) and its still one of the coolest RPG books I've every read.
I've decided to make the game I run with it my first "public" session. I've been recording my games for review purposes and haven't found them particularly entertaining so I haven't made the effort to put them where anyone could hear them. So, I'm going to make this one a bit of a production.
None of the players have played it before and only one of them knows anything significant about the Mythos so I should be assured some players who won't know what hit them.

And Jacen, I can host them when you get the recordings editted. I'm working on a project I'm calling "Gamer Dead Zone" but it's going slow so I'm planning to use the bandwidth and server space to host recordings. I figured it'd be funny to play up the "public radio" aspect of the site and have fans add their own material stored "off site".

Well, I'm going insane with M&M (not the candy), my imagination runs way too wild. I've got too many ideas for awesome villains for my players to fight against.
I've already got some flesh-morphing-freak, some sort of insane genius guy who's got a plan laid out to fool the heroes into doing bad and Popman, some dude who gained superpowers when he fell into a popcorn machine filled with uranium.

Sounds like the joke game I was planning to run. We only really finished one character: The Bulge.

Don't jest. I'm dead serious about those characters, it might sounds silly but they would be fully "fleshed" out.

Well, The Bulge is his superhero name, his "real" name is Porno Mann. He was an adult film actor in the sixties. He was born with his powers but for most of his life he kept them secret until the eighties at which point he was inspired to join a team of heroes trying to save their city (which was a fictionalised San Francisco). For few years he used his hero fame to enhance his civilian career but he official retired in the early ninties. In the game, he would have been pulled out of quiet retirement by the other heroes to help them save the world again.
The idea was to make a joke hero (all the characters where jokes) that was still effective. The Bulge's player took every power that could be easily be sex jokes. He had elongation, fiction control, anatomical seperation, and a bunch of others, which looked hiliariously funny on a character sheet with "The Bulge" as the title. But he could used them as effective powers when the game really got going.
He was the oldest of the heroes by a long shot. He had immunity aging so he was still young, even though he was in his sixties. He was also the only member of the party who had dealt with their enemy before and he served as the mentor of the group. He liked to dispence wisdom using prono analogies which, though odd, usually fit the situation and actually succeeded in passing along the lesson. We designed the character to be a walking dick joke but we got so interested in him that we gave him alot of personality and background. We still talk about him, even though we never actually got to play the game he was designed for.

So he's basically a nicer version of the Comedian.

Hmm, I suppose. The Comedian is more depicted as a man who "gets it", that he sees the joke of the world. The Bulge was just a guy who'd live for long enough to learn a few lessons, he didn't have especially deep insight into human nature and he was an optimistic man. As The Bulge always says "You may be down for awhile, but you always come back up eventually."

Yeah I heard about this game through the interview you did with Benjamin Baugh. Thank you Ross, you made me really want to go out and buy a independent game. I read up on the game a litte more and then was hooked. I have talked to my regular group and they LOVED the idea ;D. I think they just like the idea of playing little children as player characters. I just bought crayons and paper plates the other day for my players. This is going to be a great time. I am goingt to play it in late may so I have time to get the rules set down. Its gonna be awesome.

I'm not sure what games I'd like to give a try, even if I weren't pretty full up on gaming right now.
I'd like to play in a d20 Dark*Matter game. I have, somehow, never played a d20 game that wasn't D&D. Kind of odd now that I think about it. Anyway, I love Dark*Matter and think it would be an awesome game to play.
I'd really like to play Mutants and Masterminds. I have a Ninja Iron Man concept I want to play with that's been in my head for ages and I haven't gotten to roll with it.
I'd kind of like to play Scion, as well. I picked up Scion: Hero when it was offered as a free PDF a while ago, but only read through it last month and I thought it was pretty interesting. I'm not exactly hardcore jonesing to play it, but I wouldn't mind.
I've been told that I might like SLA Industries, but I know almost nothing about it. So maybe I could look into that as well.

I've been interested in Scion for awhile. It looked interesting but I haven't gone through the effort to get the first book.

I've also picked up some of the new Hunter: The Vigil stuff. I've run Hunter games so it isn't really new but it will be a new kind of game.
