Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / Re: Why I Love Tom Church
« on: August 07, 2014, 03:05:26 PM »
So I was watching the Dragonball Z Abridged side movie "Episode of Bardock" and I can't help but see Bardock as a Tom Church character.

Seriously, that is basically Tom.

RPGs / Bundle of Holding has Seven Delta Green books on now.

Seven Delta Green books now on the Bundle of Holding.

I've only gotten one of the Bundles of Holding before, but it's a great concept for giving people exposure to things they otherwise wouldn't see.

I know Delta Green is looked upon fondly here, but if you guys are like me and haven't taken the plunge - it's an opportune time.

I uploaded RPPR-CP-NWC_002.mp3 yesterday.

If you could move it over, I'll make another post on the site itself.

I actually have 2 recordings from last week, but I thought I'd stagger them.

First time DMing caught on tape!  For those who enjoy 4e played in its purest form, please stay away for your own safety.

The OP says to tell you my username so you can allow me to make posts, and I'm uploading the first mp3.

Beyond that, I don't know what the process is.

edit: I uploaded NWC_01.mp3  - My naming scheme could use some work.

I signed up for an account on this months after everyone stopped using it.

I have a fresh 4e campaign for the New World right as they announced they're making a new system.

That's me, on the cutting edge.  mrlr is my wordpress login.

Photonic Regenerator (11,11,4,6)

You control/are made out of light and you can heal/detach your body parts and new ones will grow back.

So... Wolverine if he were a Green Lantern.

That's terrifying.

Don't forget about Magical Burst.  The RPG where you play a team of magical girls so popular in Japan's dumbest animes.

Random Character Creation (I can control people's minds through sugar!), Random Enemy Creation (My nemesis is a Gelatinous Motorcycle!) and just a plain silly concept could be podcast gold.

Although I'm not sure who you'd get on board to actually try the system.

RPGs / Gamma World Character Creation
« on: August 16, 2011, 03:34:20 PM »
Do you guys know Gamma World?  The post apocalyptic setting for 4e?  Well it's stripped down 4e, but very close.

Half the fun is creating characters.  Due to the lethality of the game, character creation is very easy and completely random.  The randomness adds to the quick character creation because no one is allowed to mull over their character for too long.

I found these rules on a Play by Post game for creating a character:
Code: [Select]
Roll 1d12 for each origin. 1-5 means you select from the first column, 6-10 is from the second column, and 11/12 is from the
third column. Roll a 1d20 or 1d8 to receive your origins.

pre:

1  Android              AI            Antimatter Blaster
2  Cockroach            Alien         Demon
3  Doppelganger         Arachnoid     Octopoid
4  Electrokinetic       Cryokinetic   Photonic
5  Empath               Ectoplasmic   Reanimator
6  Felinoid             Entropic      Regenerator
7  Giant                Exploding     Saurian
8  Gravity Controller   Fungoid       Vampiric
9  Hawkoid              Gelatinous
10 Hypercognitive       Magnetic
11 Mind Breaker         Mythic
12 Mind Coercer         Nightmare
13 Plant                Plaguebearer
14 Pyrokinetic          Plastic
15 Radioactive          Prescient
16 Rat Swarm            Reanimated
17 Seismic              Shapeshifter
18 Speedster            Simian
19 Telekinetic          Temporal
20 Yeti                 Wheeled

If you roll the same origin twice, your origin is "Engineered Human".

Each of your origins indicates its primary ability. You get a score of 18 in the primary ability of your first origin, and a score of 16 in
the primary ability of your second origin. If the primary abilities are identical for both origins, then you get a 20 for that ability score.
For the rest of the unassigned ability scores, roll 3d6 for each.

Each of your origins provides one or more bonuses to specific skills. You also receive a +4 bonus to one random skill. Roll 1d10 to
 determine your random skill.

pre:

Skill           Key Ability
1) Acrobatics   Dexterity
2) Athletics    Strength
3) Conspiracy   Intelligence
4) Insight      Wisdom
5) Interaction  Charisma
6) Mechanics    Intelligence
7) Nature       Wisdom
8) Perception   Wisdom
9) Science      Intelligence
10) Stealth     Dexterity

Hit Points at 1st Level - 12 + your Constitution score
Bloodied Value - ½ your hit points, rounded down
Hit Points per Level - 5
Fortitude Defense - 10 + your level + higher of your Strength or Constitution modifiers
Reflex Defense - 10 + your level + higher of your Dexterity or Intelligence modifiers
Will Defense - 10 + your level + higher of your Wisdom or Charisma modifiers
Armor Class - 10 + your level + armor bonus + shield bonus + higher of your Dexterity or Intelligence modifiers (if wearing light or no armor)
Speed - 6 +/- modifiers from your origin
Initiative Modifier - your Dexterity modifier + your level + other modifiers
Attack Bonus (Weapon) - your best modifier from the weapon's key ability score pair + your level + weapon accuracy modifier
Attack Bonus (Power) - the power's key ability modifier + your level + power accuracy modifier (or weapon accuracy modifier if the power works with a weapon)
Skill Bonus - the key ability score modifier + your level + other modifiers

Anyway, I decided to create a character and I ended up with a Saurian (Dinosaur) primary and Nightmare (Embodiment of Fear) secondary.

I decided that this character is Dinosaur Batman.  This is a system that allows you to play Dinosaur Batman and it's awesome.  I thought of Tom after I made the character.

Roll up a character.  It's pretty fun.

RPGs / The New World - Backgrounds
« on: August 01, 2011, 08:43:47 PM »
Hi everyone,

My DM wants to take a break from DMing after heroic tier is done.  He offered me the opportunity to take it up the reigns for a while.  They said they wanted to stay with D&D 4e, so I figured that I would try to run the New World for them, if only for a little bit.

One thing that I wanted to do, though, for this campaign is to write custom backgrounds for the offline Character Builder.  Someone wrote a program called CBLoader that allows you to add content to the (now defunct) offline builder.

So I'm thinking of adding custom backgrounds for my players to take that add a bit more flavour to the world, while getting rid of the ones that are clearly broken from other sources (Scales of War's - Born Under a Bad Sign is an example).

I'd like some suggestions on what my players could take as Colonists to the new world.

Here are some I have so far:

Colonist - Entrepreneur:  +2 Diplomacy, +1 Initiative
Colonist - Scholar: +2 Arcana, +2 History
Colonist - Missionary: +2 Religion, +2 Diplomacy or Intimidate (Depending what type of missionary they would like to be.)
Colonist - Labourer: +2 to Athletics, +2 to Endurance

Please contribute, as I'm not sure mine are particularily interesting.

So, is this the next campaign to be released Bi-weekly on the actual play feed?

Or is that a special treat for January 2038?

"I'm sailing away. Set an open course for the virgin seas."

...10 translations later we get:

"Admiration. The meeting set a public marine wife"

...30 translations later we get:

"Recommendations. Wife, hearing the ocean"

...50 translation later we get:

"Needed. My wife and listen"

Arje, while ross is gone you should redesign the entire site.

I'm thinking a paisley background and a midi file of "Cotton Eyed Joe" playing on the main site.
