Thanks for the ideas!  Bee hive is awesome!

You are correct, punji sticks are a little too violent.  However I recall my trusty old acorn gun from childhood (2 paper towel tubes, rubberband, tape, and some acorns) split a few lips.

Never watched Rescue Rangers, I'll have to check it out.

Thanks, totally forgot about that as a resource.  Good thinking, thanks.

RPGs / I could use some help - Non-lethal weapon ideas for GURPS One-shot
« on: December 20, 2011, 02:56:49 PM »
Hey all,

I am designing a GURPS game where the players are kids battling over control of a woods.  Kind of like Lord of the Flies meets the Sandlot.  I am looking to add in a bit of comedy, ingenuity, as well as action and fun.

I am trying to think up some good kid-like improvised weapons/traps for the NPCs who will fight dirty, for instance, slingshots and dirtballs, aerosol can and a lighter (more for show), stinkbombs, catapults, etc.  The more imaginative the better.   Does anyone have any really clever ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Was anyone else scarred by the Poughkeepsie tapes?  Man, it just messed me up.  I actually had nightmares from it.

Awesome Ideas!  I love the thought of zombie swimsuit models.  Also I like the idea of the Stoner having a high fearless level works well.

I was thinking that the fat kid would be a lot like Vern from Stand by Me or more like Chunk from Goonies.  I like the idea of empty food stashes for him.  The comic book aspect lends itself well only because I need to make one of the PC's the conspiracy/occult historian.   "Dude, they are cosmic radioactive zombies, I read all about them in Captain Atom #5" .

Great idea's, thanks.

RPGs / Help with a one-shot Gurps Horror/Comedy...

Hey all,

I am pulling another drive by posting here, but I could use some outside help.

Working on a Gurps 4e Horror/Comedy one-shot.  Basically I am going for an 80's cheezy horror with some utterly stupid slapstick comedy (think Dead Alive or Bad Taste), PCs are stereotypical teens, the jock, the rebel, the slut, the nerd, the stoner, and the fat kid. NPCs - zombified townsfolk.  Ultimately, the pcs have to survive, clear the town of the living dead, rescue the townsfolk at the Agri-Fair, and make sure the tainted soda doesn't leave the loading docks (don't ask).  There are also some lesser game-extending tasks they need to complete before taking on the Zs.

I got the storyline basically fleshed out, and now working on NPC templates and town layout.  Where I am stuck is the comedy.  All I got right now is:

1. The jock has a disadvantage - the absolute fascination with breasts.  PC will have to roll against will to ensure they refrain from having debilitating erections and touching/grabbing/motorboating the woman in question (even if undead).

2. The stoner has a situational advantage where, when on some type of mind altering drug, the pc must come up with absolutely crazy plans and contraptions (tactics and gadgeteering), and has a temporary higher Willpower which raises their Enthrallment.  Basically this pc will most likely win influence rolls against the other pcs so they have to carry out his plans.

And that's pretty much what I have come up with so far.  I understand a lot of the comedy will be on the fly based on PC actions but I wanted to get some other ideas to liven up the game.

Thanks in advance

RPGs / Re: How do you become a better Role Player?

Sorry I am late on this one but something that has helped me is that my GM requires out-of-game character journals be written.  I think it better help define the smaller characteristics and motives that drive the character.

Just a thought.

RPGs / Need a little help with an Item creation

Hi all,

Needed a little help on an Item for a campaign I am creating.  I like to add in some humor into my campaigns so I decided to create a cursed Sack of Shenanigans (sp?).  When the user decides to reach in they will pull out a totally random item (roll 2 d10) that will usually result in some sort of odd behavior, curse, or funny situation.  For example, Soft Leather Boots of Stomping (can be heard up to 200' away), A Carp of Cornnobbling (+8 1d4 dam, rots away in 3 days), a baggie of Oregano, Amulet of Feline Pheromone, etc...

I have 100 slots (2d10) total and I need to fill about 15 more, any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, Love the RPPR podcast.
