RPGs / Re: Eclipse Phase

Hello, everyone, long time listener, first time forumer.

I have a small problem/block. I'm thinking about making a small mini-campaign for newbies to the system (because all my friends are newbies to the system, haha), to get them both introduced to the system and allow them to feel their way into the backstory without requiring them to read hundreds of pages of story. So I thought about placing the setting on Earth at the moment the Fall starts, and the basic concept will be that the players (in their pre-Fall careers) will have to deal with the fallout of such niceties as terror attacks, shadowy missions for secret organizations, etc., with the payoff being that the terror attack that starts it all and several of the subsequent missions are the planning of the TITANs to use humanity against themselves while they build up their forces, with the players finally getting the big picture as they're headed off of Earth.

My big questions are, should i break up the episodes to teach various parts of the system? Like have the intro get them used to how skills work, and then introduce the sousveillance/Mesh, then combat options, etc.? And should I start them with characters with fewer options at creation representing the fact that they're not the people they're going to be in 10 AF?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

The way I went about this problem was withholding points from the players until they understood what the points did.  I also issued them a questionnaire that had them describe their character and then I built them accordingly.

Hello all, hope it is not inappropriate to post this here but I though you might enjoy this.

So I have been running a campaign of EP for a bit. It is called Ozymandias and if you want to listen to recordings of our sessions, you check out the link here: http://mnh.podbean.com/

The premise is that way way back in the 2000's, a billionaire tech mogul with the vision of Steve Jobs, the arrogance of Donald Trump, and the zeal of William Jennings Bryan commissioned brain scanning experiments to help him become immortal. The players are the test subjects who were successfully instantiated 200 or so years later.

We have an ex bounty hunter, a corporate spy, a book store clerk, a student, and an Olympic Table Tennis player.

Check it out and if you enjoy our stuff, please send word. Otherwise we are simply speaking into an audient void and they are the worst kind of voids.

General Chaos / Re: Kickstarting for a kickstarter

Anything for you Caleb. Also, while I have your ear, what was the process for writing Know Evil? Did you have the villainous Plot preconceived or was it something that emerged after the team managed to destroy two habitats.

General Chaos / Kickstarting for a kickstarter

Okay, this may seem like an insane idea but Posthuman Studios has listed for their Transhuman Kickstarter the backer level of Fabbing Business where, and those does require calling the guys at posthuman first, you give them at least $2,500 dollars and they will allow you a contract to publish a sourcebook for Eclipse Phase. I don't believe Caleb has that kind of cash lying around but if he can get the guys at posthuman onboard, maybe he can get a kickstarter of his own going for finally releasing Know Evil on the public.

So this would essentially be Caleb starting a kickstarter to pump money into another kickstarter. This seems like an insane idea but I am ready to swear to Caleb for this one.

Also, forgot the mention, those who read my entry, I have a question for you. But don't read the question until after reading the story.
Was the ending obvious?
Not a bad piece of work, Perspective is confuse at the end but I enjoyed reading this and would  not mind more stuff like it.

Just ordered the Eclipse Phase Core book from my FLGS and bought a copy of stealing cthulhu because of the cast.

Deadpan delivery?!? I think we need an emergency viewing of every Jim Carey movie in order to beat that out of you. In this here US of A we only approve of the humor that Jesus used, slapstick.

Sir, I do recommend that you consult the works of Flannery O'Connor from God's chosen region, the south, before making the declaration that deadpan is unamerican .

Does her work come in either 140 character chunks or in animated gif form? I fear this modern world had ruined me for anything more substantial.

No, but here is a story of her's that makes for a good start: http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~surette/goodman.html

When/if I run Eclipse Phase I plan to steal the idea that any time I run into a issue of inability to describe the future I will just add Space or Future to the front of any modern concept. Future Twitter and Space Coffee Mug and such.

Also I do believe in order to get the emphasis when reading it should be SPACE lumber.

If you have ever seen that episode of Invader Zim when Spaaace Meeeeat is mentioned, you will hear the emphasis I was hearing while writing this (text does not have the same delivery). Besides I was channeling the delta fork of Douglas Adams while writing this and DNA would never stoop so low as to use all caps when deadpan delivery will suffice.
