Just finished "War" by Sebastian Junger. Non-fiction about the war in Afghanistan in 2007-2008. He is one of the directors of the documentary Restrepo and the follow-up "Korengal," which follow the same group of troops. Harrowing, but a must read.

Just re-read a great science/fantasy series from the 80s by Melissa Scott. It's a unique blend of science fiction with magic.

Five-Twelfths of Heaven
Silence in Solitude
Empress of Earth

I just re-read "The Name of the Wind" and it's sequel "Wise Man's Fear" by Patrick Rothfuss. Both are good reads with lots of details on the magic of the world.

What scares you changes as soon as you have a kid......unless you are a monster :-)

Posted this before somewhere but not on this thread. Couple of teen kids visiting a camp in the middle of nowhere New Hampshire stumble on an abandoned house that is still full of stuff, like the people just disappeared years before.

1st edition RPPR was way better! You had to use your imagination. This new edition isn't real RPPR!  :o

On a more serious note, it looks good!

GURPS.

Detailed character creation system that is fun.

Combat is fucking deadly.

It has rules for all that "realistic" stuff that happens in combat.

How are you finding Pathfinder?

I've run 3.5 and am playing it now. Plus we played a small bit of fourth. I was interested in seeing how Pathfinder's "fixes" played out in actual gameplay. FWIW I still expect high level play to be busted  :D
