I'll play. Give me some specifics. Or link me the recruitment thread.

Hey Seth,

Here are the specifics: Using the BRP rules, you will play the role of a Special Forces Ranger with psychic powers in WWII. The US government has learned that the Nazis are trying to develop their own psychic program. Your mission is to infiltrate their research camp and stop their research, capture their scientists, and capture any research materials you can find.

Hey Tad, Dawn is absolutely correct. The Basic Role Playing system (BRP) is Chaosium's generic ruleset. If you can play Call of Cthulhu, you can play a game being run with BRP rules.

Dragon, email me at jonhook@gmail.com

The Chaosium site is currently running two contests. One is just a BRP (Basic Role Playing) adventure, and the other is a horror adventure that can be either Cthulhu or BRP.

I'm entering both contests, and I've completed my BRP adventure.

My adventure is set in WWII, and the players are Special Forces Rangers with psychic powers versus Nazi trying to develope psychic powers.

This would be a fun adventure for 5 to 7 players. Anyone want to play?

Disease or illness, (the more mysterious the better), that is contracted by the bite of a spider, or cat, or rat, or anything else. Have the disease eat away at the character's ability scores, and have it cause the character to hallucinate enough that they might even attack fellow players.

RPGs / Hollow Earth Expedition - anyone played this yet?

Hey guys, I just heard about a game that focuses on pulp-style adventuring. It's called Hollow Earth Expeditions, (HEX), and it's published by Exile Games.

I haven't played yet, but I am chomping at the bit to play. I've decided that the next rpg I buy will be HEX. I encourage you guys to go check out the Exile Games site, especially the downloads section. The EG folks have posted the HEX introductory adventure they produced for Free RPG Day 2008, so it comes with complete quick-start rules too.

I think this would be a great system to play a Land of the Lost campaign. Beware of Sleestaks!

As a child of the 70s, we didn't have a home computer, and the game console I had had Pong! I shit you not. Eventually, my brother and I did get a Sega Odyssey for X-mas one year.

No, the games that hold nostalgia for me are old rpgs, board games, and actual coin-op arcade games. My favorites as a kid were...

D&D, Call of Cthulhu (still a huge favorite), Marvel Superheroes, Axis & Allies, and Squad Leader. A friend of mine had a huge collection of Lord of the Rings minis, and he constructed a terrain board, (I think it was a 4x8 or 4x6 board), and we'd play our own version of mini wars with these huge LotR armies.

how about the ability to shoot a yak from 200 yards away.... WITH MIND BULLETS...

<a href="" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win"></a>

P.S. I like the Idea, But I would run it during cold war time just to add that extra bit into it, add in people part of real mind games like Maj. Ed Dames and his remote viewing, I cant rember what the name of that project was I keep thinking its Project Blue Book but I know thats a UFO cover up name. Anyways I like the idea none the less.

Thanks man. I loved the Tenacious D video, that was excellent.

I'm writing this adventure up for submission to Chaosium's current Basic Role Playing adventure contest. I hope they like it too.

A WWII setting.

The PCs are an elite group of Special Forces Rangers who have graduated from an experiment to unlock psychic abilities in humans. Each Ranger has one or two psi abilities. They are part of X-Ray Company.

The Allies get wind of a special lab run by the Nazi to also unlock psi abilities. The US decides to shut them down before a psionics race can begin. The Rangers have the intel they need to do a night drop near the lab and arial photos of the area so they can get in, shut down the research, capture any scientists, and any research materials already compiled.

Unbeknownst to the US, the Nazis have developed a device that when surgically added to a man will give him the ability to project a psionic attack that has the capability to kill a man with a single thought!

I just bought "Houses of the Blooded" as a pdf for just $5.00. This is their regular price for an over 400 page pdf.

Check it out: http://www.housesoftheblooded.com/

I finally got a copy of Call of Cthulhu. It's really old (published 1989) and its still one of the coolest RPG books I've every read.

I've decided to make the game I run with it my first "public" session. I've been recording my games for review purposes and haven't found them particularly entertaining so I haven't made the effort to put them where anyone could hear them. So, I'm going to make this one a bit of a production.

None of the players have played it before and only one of them knows anything significant about the Mythos so I should be assured some players who won't know what hit them.

Awesome. I hope you have a great game of CoC!! :)

I can't wait to try Monsters & other childish things.  I bought it about a week ago and can't wait to try it out.

Feel free to ask questions about it. It's actually quite easy to get players into roleplaying as kids as everyone has experience being a kid. You just have to get them into the mood and right frame of mind.

I would love to play someday.

Thanks guys. I had a lot of fun running Murder of Crows, but as Boyos pointed out there is another much much better CoC actual play available to listen to, Dig to Victory, that is way cooler. I loved DtV.
