Hook Ten: You just received a invitation letter to wizard school and a package containing a mop which is labeled "your new transportation." Mhuahaha.

Ladder Ten: The invisible yet romantic city of Casanostra

Hook Eleven: The players are survivors of Casanostra after it's destruction, accustomed to a life of luxury and comfort, they must now survive in a post-nuclear wasteland.

Ladder Eleven: A meteor storm of alien "seeds".

I wanna play, but I don't get the game. Your hook and ladder seem completely disconnected... fantasy and modern.  ???

Yeah, I'm intrigued to try out M&M. Now that I have Savage Worlds, I was thinking of giving their particular version of a superpowered game a try, (and I may still will), but now I really want to give M&M a shot.

I bring this up cause I just purchased Savage Worlds: Explorer's Edition, and I'm excited to learn a new game. My intent is to learn it well enough in order to convert Gamma World into a Savage Gamma World!  ;D

Who else is trying new games? RPG or board game. What 'cha checkin' out?

Ross, are you releasing the "Watchmen" game on a different feed? I'm behind on a few RPPR episodes, but none of the titles on my as-yet-to-be-listened episodes look like your "Watchmen" game.

I do not want to miss this game.

Ran the first session. It went well. Players investigated a massacre of a rich penthouse party. I'll see if I can get Tom to post his character description.

Please tell me you are recording this game!!!!

Hey Maze!

SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!

DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT SOME ELEMENTS OF THE CALL OF CTHULHU ADVENTURE "MURDER OF CROWS" TO BE SPOILED!!!!

Thanks man. I absolutely LOOOOVE GMing Call of Cthulhu. The Murder of Crows adventure was designed to be a "low impact" adventure with very little actual Cthulhu mythos in it. It was designed to be more of a creepy investigative adventure. I wanted to punch it up just a bit by adding in the monster at the very end.

Some of the more creepy elements were designed to occur in the Walker mansion, but they never went into the mansion, (which is fine cause were ran slightly longer than our available game time slot even without going in there). All of the animals were being controlled by Prescott Walker and the necklace he was wearing. In reality, the necklace was a cleverly designed Mi-go device.

For whatever reason, Prescott Walker was such a low threat, it was assumed by the adventure's author that the players would subdue him, and then take the necklace. At which point, the player/character with the necklace would become "possessed" by the necklace and become the "villain" of the story just like Prescott was. In order for that to happen, the player/character who takes the necklace is supposed to fail a roll of some sort, but in my game Tom's character succeeded in his roll, so he was able to take the necklace without become possessed. And thus ended our allotted game time, and thus ended our game.

It was super-fun to play/run that game though. I had a ton of fun with the NPCs. I would run this adventure again, but hopefully I would do a better job of amping up the creep factor.

And don't get me started on what'd happen if they where Max Brooks zombies.

I read this kind of fast originally, and I thought you said MEL Brooks zombies. I totally would love to see a Mel Brooks zombie movie!!!  ;D

It's been forever since I've played SR, but I loved the setting, so I'd keep the fantasy elements if I were you.

RPGs / Re: some help with a game...

Also, you may want to start your players in an adventure that you think that they can survive. This will do two things...

1. Give them some experience with the game system and their characters can get some experience in using their skills.

2. The players/characters can become a little over-confident in their ability to face down monsters, then you can turn up the lethality of the game!!  ;D

I love the CoC/BRP game system and Lovecraftian monsters. I would begin with an adventure involving ghouls. You could have the players hired to cleanse some old military cemetery of an infestation.

You could have the players encounter a few ghouls in the graveyard itself, and then as they investigate a mortuary on the grounds they could discover an entrance to an underground "city" of ghouls and maybe the funeral home running the cemetery has been burying empty coffins for years, and has instead been feeding the ghouls the fresh corpses. Maybe the funeral home uses the ghouls to conduct crime sprees throughout the city.

Anyways, I personally think ghouls are a fun, creepy monster that can be used in many ways and can be defeated by regular weapons by the players. This will give the players experience in the game and game system, and give them just a bit too much confidence in your next adventure.
