You can try good sir, you can try.

For you may have Yig, Father Dagon, Mother Hydra, the Mi-Go and even the Roswell Aliens behind you. But we have Ithaqua, Sasquatch, Wendigo, Ogopogo, and and Pontypool! Bring it! XD

RPGs / It Came From The Used Bookstore
« on: September 06, 2012, 08:34:51 PM »
I was at my local used bookstore, searching for some old fantasy or sci-fi, maybe a horror novel for cheap. Doing so led me to find this little gem: Fighting Fantasy by Steve Jackson. A Novel sized game book that details rules for a d6 variation of a fantasy adventure gaming akin to early D&D with not 1 but 2 starting scenarios that supplied maps of caves and dungeons. For 3 dollars, how could I say no to such a novelty?

Anyone else find weird, interesting, or dare say amazing RPGs at a used bookstore before?

RPGs / Re: Fear Itself! Monster creation?

Several actually, one in particular is a spectral revenant akin to Jason Voorheese but also similar to a Sasquatch (covered in hair, underneath a parka). It's face is cover by a makeshift bent STOP sign mask and it wields the metal sign post with the concrete base at the end as a club. It's called the Traffic Man and is haunting a northern resort town. Can vanish without a trace.

RPGs / Fear Itself! Monster creation?
« on: September 03, 2012, 08:57:36 PM »
Been thinking of using the Fear Itself rules for a game but I see that there is no actual content or really any tips on creating your own monsters, and so, the question is this, is there a monster creation guide for fear itself, either with the book of unremitting horror or somewhere online? or is it somewhere in the core book that Im just missing?

Gonna sound incredibly nit-picky and nerdy here (expect nothing less of a fanboy) but was playing Mass Effect 3 through the Rachni mission and totally heard FemShepard say Novera and not Noveria. For some reason I picked up on that almost instantly.

Just finished the DLC: Leviathan for Mass Effect 3, all I will say is this: Lovecraft is alive and well in the Mass Effect Universe. That and Caleb might have some listeners/ fans in Bioware. Enjoyed it very much.

His actions in Cthulhu Invictus are straight out of the big book of true heroism and chivalry! Seriously, a ray of hope even in a cold and careless universe.

I recently discovered "Slender" some experimental and pretty atmospheric game set in the slender man mythos, still have to give it a full go, but it looks pretty creepy. a word of caution, Don't stare at them too long!

you can also see a couple of playthroughs on youtube but hey, the games free and pretty easy to start up on either a pc or mac.

I'm curious, where did the name Grunvald (no clue if that was spelled correctly) come from? does it have any significance? I recall seeing it somewhere earlier this week and it sparked this curiosity.

Not gonna lie, when I saw the the monster designs on Kickstarter for the Chicago scenario, I didn't think it was  a
Ghoul
, until I saw the name of it. After I wondered how I hadn't seen it before, It's a really cool design for them.
