Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / Game suggestion
« on: March 07, 2010, 03:31:24 PM »
You should do a game based on Kids Next Door, or am I the only person that ever watched that? I always found the show interesting, and combined with Monsters rules and RPPR humor it could be hilarious.

Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / Re: RPPR Fanfic readings

I finally got around to listening and after catching my breath I realized where you can find more, unless someone has already posted it.
http://www.fanfiction.net/
I have an account there, but stuff like this made me stop writing fanfiction. Don't want my shitty old fanfiction being read either.

I was searching for more actual plays after listening the Penny Arcade. Needless to say I found much better here. I joined the forums because I'm a whore like that. Order66 reminds me of a guy in the art circles called bagera. The fucker can't type for shit and blames it on ADD, I have ADD and at least I know what a period is... It's the week I can't touch my girlfriend.

RPGs / Re: anyone good at maptools?

My favorite technique is the one I used on a guy in pvp match. All Out Attack Double: Head stomp. I kicked him in the head to stun him, threw him prone, and caved his skull with my heel. Still not as fun as him fighting the flying rocket ninjas with P90s though. Two of them charged him with swords once their swords and got thier jaws blown off, litterally. The last one use spray fire, hitting him in both legs and an arm, bypassing his armor.

My first idea was Vietnam Guy, he has one arm and has seen things. I think one arm is more then 25 points though. But yeah, GURPS is only slightly more complicated then DnD without the optional rules. I'm trying to poke my girlfriend into posting an idea she got from Pit Boss.

RPGs / Re: Begging for assistance, GURPS Templates
« on: February 22, 2010, 03:52:34 PM »
Space has military templates that I use quite a bit, plus advise on building aliens, and a terrifying star system generator. You have to be crazy to use it though since there's no software for it. Biotech has lots of interesting racial tempates that can work for aliens. Ultratech has all the weapons and gear you need, must of the game seems TL11. Light armor would be TL11 fabric suit, forget what its called, Med TL10 hardsuit, and heavy TL11 hardsuit, or space combat armor since that's vacsealed. There's no gravtech shotgun, but the rest of the weapons are there. Haven't read the psionics book though, but the basic set should be good enough for mass effect. Biotech also has better cybernetics then Ultratech, my opinion though. None of the other books I have would be useful though, thier mostly just fluff. But Biotech and Space have tons of character and racial templates, Ultratech has the gear.

It's easy once you get the hang of it, but time consuming. I have a fairly decent 450pt Spartan template for Halo, took all day to make though. I can do a 150pt in about an hour, including equipment. Character assistant helps though.

Never used MapTools but I love low point GURPS chars and will be willing to play. I own the basic set hard cover and martial arts PDF. Had a really fun fight involving flying rocket ninjas with P90s once.

My girlfriend has had more then a few bad expiriances rping because of the people around us. We both want to rp and I've gotten her to be a big fan of GURPS, but it wouldn't be much fun with only the two of us, not to mention us being alone isn't conductive to gaming... The only people we really have to play with are my ex and her friends, but they are all obsessed with Star Wars and neither of us really are interested in playing that mess anymore. Aside from that we play 360 together, beaten all the Halo games and are working on Borderlands, WoW for awhile, Guild wars, I want her to play STO, and I'm teaching her a space combat minitures game called Squadron Strike. Our current Valentines plans are, go out to dinner, see a movie, watch Star Trek for awhile, and play Xbox. There's other things in there I'm not allowed to talk about... and we get into some fairly interesting engineering decussions too. This thread is interesting.

General Chaos / Re: Favorite Star Trek Era/Movie
« on: January 29, 2010, 09:03:36 AM »
Star Trek Online launches Tuesday, play it. It honestly does not suck once you get into it, beta was rough though.

My favorite movies are VI and Generations, I have reletives who cried when Kirk died. My favorite era to watch is TNG, my girlfriend and I are watching the whole series a few eps a week. I love the original series and early movie ship designs too. Look up Starfleet Battles and SF Command.
On that note: Captain Sandra Beaver; USS Screaming Pelican.

I'm actually using this for the title of a series of short stroies I'm writing. They do involve monster, but not schools... yet.

This MMO related but still.

"Feh, there's only 4 of them and the other players are right being me."

Turned out the "only" 4 of them were all battleships and all targeted my since I was in front. Bright green flash and my ship exploded. Also...

"It's fine, all I have to do is get a torpedo through its shields..."
"My vulcan's healing is maxed out."
"Stun it! Stun it!"
"Did the gorn just pick up a rock?"
"There aren't that many klingons..." (forgot about cloaking...)
"Why is the flagship spawn camping?" (that wasn't me)
"Emergency power to shields, polarize armor, evasive manuvers, reinforce aft shield..." (me saying my powers out loud as I activated them) And finally...
"The hell is that?"

Allof this has been this week playing star trek. There's more, but those are the ones I remember most.
