Since Base-raiders is going to be a FATE game I thought I'd mention this here.

The FATE Core kickstarter is up.
You can join for 1$ and get access to the basic beta files and a all PDF pledge is 10$

And it's going at redoncilus speed.  It went up by a 1000$ in the last hour alone.

Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / What AP would you like RPPR to do?
« on: November 26, 2012, 07:54:45 AM »
So I'm not a part of RPPR and have no say over what they play.  But Calebs "What should I run next" thread gave me an idea.

What game do you, the listener, think the RPPR should play?  And why?  More CoC is not an option.  It has to be something they are not doing already.

My votes are.
Ars Magics --- The troupe stile play allows for swapping of GMs and changes in the player group.  Plus who does not want to hear the RPPR guys play scheming wizards.

Dogs in the Vineyard --- Because I want to hear the RPPR guys play mormon paladins dealing with moral quandaries.

Apocalypse world --- Because it would fit them like a glove.  Fast and simple combat system and everything is about player interaction with each other.

Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / Now that Ross is doing a FATE game...

...will we get a Dresden files game on the AP? What are you planing to run to get system familiarity?

The other day I saw Misteries of MesoAmerica on sale at by local bricks and mortar. And before I knew it I had bought that book.

So it made me think what other products has RPPR mindwashed me into buying.

So here is my short list (I'm poor these days)
-dead tree version of Eclipse Phase
-PDF of Rimward
-kickstart Hebaron Games
-Call of C. used

What about you guys?

General Chaos / Open Source Software Discussion Thread
« on: April 22, 2012, 04:41:11 PM »
I was wondering what good free software is out there.  I'm interested in hearing what free software you use.  Please don't just linkdump a list of the internet.  Give us something you use yourself and tell us why.

Here is mine. GIMP is a free open source version of Photoshop. (Raster image manipulation).  It's as good as Photoshop for 95% of tasks. I use it extensively in my work (Maps) and have never seen the need for Photoshop.

What do you use?

EDIT:  Im totally a spam bot :-)

RPGs / Science fiction horror movie = Eclipse Phase adventure
« on: April 09, 2012, 05:11:07 AM »
I recently started reading the Eclipse Phase books and one of the first questions that I came up with was.  How do I convert my favorite Sci Fi horror movies into and Eclipse Phase adventure.

Here's what I came up with.

Event Horizon in Eclipse Phase.
A long range science exploration ship on a tour of the solar system sends a single SOS and then stops responding to communication.  The players, who are a rescue team or a salvage team are ego cast to the nearest facility and then sent to intercept the ship.  Once the players are there they find an empty ship and damaged communication gear (to keep the PC sealed in) and signs of foul play.  Also as soon as all the players are in the ship something needs to happen to their rescue craft stranding them in the research ship.

It turns out that the ships wasn't about exploration.  It was an attempt to create a secure and covert research facility to research the exergent virus.  The virus got out and infected the ships AI.  Do to the exergent virus the AI gains psi equivalent of reading memories it then used the information found there to drive them the crew into to murder each other.  Now the rescue crew is there with new memories for the AI to read and new minds to drive insane.  To spice things up one of the players can be a firewall agent, another one a corporate implant with conflicting goals.

Can the PCs solve the issue before the ship drifts close enough to a built planet to pass on the virus?

What other movies would make good fodder for Eclipse Phase?

I just re-listened to episode 66.  Good show.
So Tom how is Lady GaGa 4.X coming along?
