I can't wait for episode 3. Any idea when it will get released, Ross?

General Chaos / Delta Green kickstarter

It's live.

And it has just about raised its initial funding goal of 40K in 4 hours.

I'm now a bit poorer.

I wish Arc Dream had organized this campaign a bit differently - there is some lack of information at the outset for some key things - but there's no doubt this will be a raging success.

I wish I had the 5K lying around for the Alphonse Lives pledge level. :P

RPGs / Preludes to Masks
« on: August 12, 2015, 02:10:39 AM »
I've been patiently waiting for the crowdfunding Masks companion and prop set kickstarters to get fulfilled in order to start Masks this fall. So it's about time I start running some prologue adventures to introduce Jackson Elias and make his fate at the outset of Masks hit home.

I've listened to Ross' run of the campaign and I see that he adapted Dream Factory from Pagan's Mortal Coils scenario anthology and Shanghai Bullets from Pelgrane's Eldritch Tales.

Instead of shamelessly copying those choices I have hit upon the idea of running a pair of adventures from Pagan's Mysteries of Mesoamerica, Menhirs in the Grotto (1923) and The Heretics (1925) and inserting Jackson Elias as a very helpful NPC patron/fellow expedition member and general fixer to help the PCs out in the former and correspond with him as he heads to Africa. I plan to have the PCs make it back to New York just in time to rendezvous with Elias and then discover his dire fate. (I may just insert a small sojourn into The Sense of Sleight of Hand Man too, but I'm very uncertain about this.)

Opinions, feedback from anyone who has run these adventures very welcome.

Well it's out in digital form now. Giving it a readthrough now that it's in its final draft.

What does everyone else think of the new ruleset? I find myself more and more appreciative of Trail of Cthulhu nowadays.

RPGs / Hollow Earth Expeditions, redux

I saw one thread about this game from way back in '09 ... has anyone played this game? I've only recently become aware of HEX and as some of my regular players really like to pulp it up sometimes, so I figured I'd ask around for feedback on this game as a possible offering for them.

So, who ended up pledging for an online game run by Scott Glancy from the kickstarter? We'll need to get organized for when those games are set up.

General Chaos / Best GUMSHOE rules?
« on: September 11, 2014, 01:13:01 PM »
So, I'll be running Trail of Cthulhu for the first time in a couple of weeks. But I own Night's Black Agents and a few other GUMSHOE games because of the awesome Pelgrane Press bundle of holding a while back. I've heard that later iterations of the GUMSHOE rules have incrementally improved the core mechanics; what do GUMSHOE veterans suggest be added back into the Trail ruleset for the best possible game?

At the end of the actual play there's a brief discussion - which is cut off, sadly - that touches the deathless masters, which are active Cthulhu cultists in the mountains of China. I do remember some mention of those in Lovecraft's story, The Call of Cthulhu. I would speculate that the unnamed villain not seen in the actual play is one of them, or one of their minions.

So I went to check my HPL and I went to my trusty Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia. And I really didn't glean any more data on this Cthulhu cult.

Can anyone point to more information about these shadowy figures?
