  • Thinking about running D&D for the first time and tackling the New World. My mate, who's better at D&D offered to run it, which allows me to play a Grippli, which excites me.

snazzy

I'm currently running my new world tribute.

Also I made a second character in a huge Pathfinder campaign with friends, Pathfinder has rules for Grippli playable characters so I made a Grippli Ranger named Sea-Moss. There is something super fun about being a character that is so positive all the time!

super snazzy

Reaper of Souls is now live.

Played it just a bit last night.

It's cool, the Crusader is fun and the cinematic for the Angel of Death is pretty BA.

I recently reset my quests on my Barbarian so now I have to run through the game to get back up to snuff.

General Chaos / Re: Other RPPR Con Plans This Year?

Do we even get Con's in Northern California?

I thought I heard about one last year...

Dragon Con or something?

I'll have to google it.

Not that I expect anyone from out of town to appear in N Cal all of a sudden.

Of all my podcasts(Originally I only listened to RPPR's big two) I now have a list of things to work through

Nerdist
Star Talk
Nightvale
We're Alive
RPPR

I have new episodes of all of them today.

I always save RPPR for last, it's like saving your favorite parts of a meal so that they can be the last bite.

Soon. Soon.

I am finally getting my chance to cross something off my "to run in the future" list and I am running 4th edition/New World for my group.

It's been years of me wanting to try but finally I get to new world it up.

I still want to run Eclipse Phase.

I want to play in Buffy the Vampire Slayer with people who would not turn it into an over the top parody.

Relisening to the campaign and on session 2, I know its been a long time since then, but I've got a question for Caleb, who/what was the other character he had created if Norm died on the operating table?

Just a passing curiosity when I heard mention of it in the session.

I know that later in the campaign he mentions playing Consequence if Norm dies.

Maybe it was Consequence.

Imagine the possibilities. Head melting possibilities.

Ah Ross has begun the desnazzification of all thing forum related.

The great snazz purge of 1812 wasn't enough satiate his urges. Now it has returned.

Alright, so let's workshop this.

What are the core elements of Divine Fire?

1) Isolated facility that appears deserted
2) Foreign territory to the players (likely a foreign country as well)
3) An inability to leave said location
4) A reactor or other generator that is tapping into another dimension
5) Subtle mutagenic effects covering the area

Divine Fire itself uses a German military base while the version Glancy did used a Libyan military base.

Grunfeld, the ghoul behind the locked door, is another constant.

Any major elements I missed?

Usually an insane character to give half believable exposition before meeting Grunfeld.

Many survival horror tropes, such the aftermath of suicides, massacres and a constant low level of "something" lurking in the shadows waiting to do them in next.

One of the things I liked most was the discovery of the medical area, where the players find out that they were sent to the facility to become the next round of test subjects. Something about the disgusting fate that they narrowly avoided giving them a reason to not despair for a moment, then shocking them back into the reality of the situation with an attack is always good.

Sure you avoided THAT fate. Now do something about this one. Also I am not afraid of giving them weapons since the baddies are tough in this scenario. Mutant horse/elk thing and the col. are the boss fights, everything else can be exposition or you can throw in some mutant types to up the ante.

The Horse was in on it.

*whispers* It was an inside job!

You know, we could do a Divine Fire fan version. Take what's in the APs and create a workable version. Between the three versions of the game I've heard there are more than enough details to replicate the scenario. I've run one before myself to great success (it's a fun scenario for first time CoC players actually).

100% This.

I also did this, and ran it for 2 new CoC players and 1 veteran. They all got something out of it. Pretty fun!
