I started listening to you guys mostly for the Actual Plays, but since I don't have as much time to listen anymore (I moved and got a job that wasn't quite as mindless to do), my two favorite things that you guys do are the After Hours and Game Designer Workshop (or whatever you guys are calling it now to differentiate from GDC or Warhammer fame).

After Hours is pretty awesome and that along with your regular stuff is enough for me (although I have been enjoying WoD the Heck a lot, and I still enjoy your APs when I get the time).

So, I guess I'm just echoing what the others have said -- keep on keeping on.

This is something I think Ross and any other architecture nerds might be interested in:

I went to the current exhibit at the Frye Museum of Art yesterday featuring Leo Saul Burke's exhibit: this man was so changed by living in the Ford House in Aurora, IL that he did a wealth of art about it. It was really interesting to see the idea that architecture changes you in practice and reality.

If any of you are going to be in Seattle in the next month, I suggest going to the exhibit before it closes. The museum admission is free (I'm not sure about parking as I live within walking distance of it).

General Chaos / Re: The Carlyle Group

Doing a little research, it makes sense that they were in Oklahoma, and especially at our hotel, as they own equity in or straight up own several oil firms including SandRidge, who has a rather large campus literally across the street from my old hotel in OKC.

It also makes sense that they were ordering light, as oil tanked and Carlyle is specific is undergoing sever losses from the loss of oil profits.

I'm a little late to the party on this one but I wanted to share anyway:

In the midst of moving into my apartment here in Seattle after a cross-country move, I got an email saying my backer reward was going to ship. I was able to get it redirected to my Seattle address, so here's the fruits of Caleb's delicious labor:

Once I find a group out here, I'm going to run them through it!

My friends and I did this for one of our games, but this is the only game I've done it in and that group consisted totally of theatre and other fine arts program graduates which I think may have tipped the scales toward that sort of thing.

It was fun, though.

I'm an ex-hotel worker, I've heard of these guys. They'd come to our hotel in Oklahoma about twice a year. Keep to themselves, mostly, as I recall.

Now that I've finally settled from my move from Oklahoma to Seattle, I'm finally getting back to normal life.

Which is to say I've marathoned Witcher 3 (So much fun. Now that there's a new game plus and since I probably won't buy anything else until Fallout 4, I'll probably play through it again on Hard and run around doing sidequests), I really suck at Bloodborne (some Let's Players on YouTube make it look easy, but man is it infuriatingly hard), and I'm playing Destiny (I'm trying to finish my Moments of Triumph before the start of year two next week) a whole lot.

RPGs / Re: How do you compile game notes?
« on: January 27, 2015, 08:28:22 PM »
If I'm using my laptop, OneNote.

The rest of the time, a few pages of notes in a notebook, mostly just outlining the major plot points.

General Chaos / Re: So, music. What's that all about?

Most of my music is streamed via Pandora, so I guess I'll post my profile if you ever want to listen to the stations I curate. I listen to a couple of stations the most:

An all-female singer-songwriter station (mostly Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Florence + The Machine, and Amy Winehouse)

This station that's a weird mixture of gypsy punk (e.g. Gogol Bordello, Devotchka), Irish music (e.g. Dropkick Murphys, The Pogues, The Dubliners), and Korpiklaani.

And a nerdcore station (mostly MC Frontalot and Schaffer the Darklord).

I also like other stuff:

The soundtrack to Hackers is pretty awesome, especially Halcyon On and On by Orbital. 90s electronica at its finest.

Bohren und der Club of Gore is awesome minimalist jazz.

Type O Negative is really funny, tongue-in-cheek metal.

I'm a huge fan of pretty much anything Blake Schwarzenbach does, from his punk outfit Jawbreaker, his alt-rock emoish band Jets to Brazil, hell even forgetters.

RPGs / Re: D&D Encounters
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:48:50 PM »
I ran the Dead in Thay games (the last three seasons) but I'm finally playing again. I really like the structure of Encounters and it's gotten my friends and I back into D&D.

I'm currently playing Dullis Manjaw, the half-orc paladin of Gruumsh. He's an ex-Flaming Fist fascist that doesn't believe in rights for those who can't take them for themselves.

Are your stores doing Expeditions? I ran one of the three Expeditions games several times at GenCon and I'm excited for them.

LordSloth: you should get in touch with your Regional or State Coordinator and have them help you talk the FLGS into setting it up. It'll be easier if your FLGS already hosts Magic: The Gathering or even if they have in the past.

It was a good time. Marching with a giant standard between the Hyatt and JW was one of the more surreal experiences of my life. I didn't sit at the Channel A table and I missed the photo op on account of paying my tab, but I still had a blast and met some cool people.

Something to consider about the Hyatt bar: this year the D&D guys have room blocks in the Hyatt too this year so it may be more populated than previous years.
