General Chaos / ArcDream and GenCon 2013
« on: January 04, 2013, 07:24:23 PM »
Hey Ross, are you still doing the community organization thing for ArcDream?

If so, do you have any information about when ArcDream would like GMs interested in running their games to check it? Early event submission starts in one week and runs til Feb. 8th. Events submitted during the early submission phase get better spots.

Secondly, for GM Badges, do you know if ArcDream would like to administer their own collection and issue them to ArcDream GMs, or if each GM should independently apply for their GM badge?

General Chaos / Mummy: The Curse
« on: December 18, 2012, 02:21:49 PM »
The Kickstarter to fun Mummy: The Curse is now live.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/mummy-the-curse-core-rulebook

I'm already in for a copy of the book.

This is going to be the first new New World of Darkness game (not just a suppliment book) made since 2009 and it's going to help OnyxPath judge how they want to proceed with creating new content.

If you want to see more World of Darkness materials in the future, seriously consider buying in on this.

Remember, Rich Thomas does actually read people's comments, especially on his own blog entries. They want to hear what fans think.

General Chaos / RPPR Fan Meet Up 2013
« on: September 05, 2012, 11:46:58 AM »
This is probably idle speculation, since the world is going to end in three or four months, but I wanted to lay some ground work for the fan meet up next year at GenCon. I had a good time this year but a few problems did sort of pop up: lack of quiet space and size of group being two big ones.

I think we should brainstorm for solutions for next year.

My suggestion is one stolen from another member of the 2012 meet up: a Killsplosion Tournament.

We have a few people volunteer to be game masters before hand (say Ross plus two fans) and divide everyone by lottery into different groups and a round. The winner from each group moves on to a round of champions to determin a final winner.

In keeping with RPPR themes the final could involve those who died in the preceding events coming back as zombies.

Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / RPPR offends England
« on: July 26, 2012, 12:14:29 PM »
Just started the new AFMBE game and I thought it would be fun to make a thread of all the things that the RPPR crew gets wrong about London, England, and everything else about the game. They won't learn unless they feel shame, and there's no shame like internet shame.

General Chaos / Zombie Proof Homes

This title is bullshit. Look at these places. Most of them would bearly last a few years into a real zombie apocalypse.

General Chaos / Cult: Awakening the Old Ones
« on: July 06, 2012, 01:03:36 PM »
One of the Kickstarters I supported as gone through: Cult. It's a progressive RPG with alot of random generation, akin to Dwarf Fortress. The demo is out now for free, Alpha will be for purchase down the line.

General Chaos / LOOPER

New movie I just saw the trailer for:
<a href="" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win"></a>

Looks fun but more importantly it gave me a game idea, specifically for Eclipse Phase. What if someone hired an old back up of yourself in a better body than your current one to kill you?

General Chaos / Kickstarter: Cool Stuff
« on: April 17, 2012, 03:05:54 PM »
I thought we could use a thread dedicated to cool things people find on Kickstarter or other pledge services, or for alpha buy-ins, things like that.

To start things off I found a cool looking Kickstarter: The Banner Saga. It's only got a few days left but it's well over it's target amount. Nice looking little RPG that's supposed to be ready in November. They've gotten some nice additions to their team with their overage money so far.

Role Playing Public Radio Podcast / Episode 72: World of Darkness
« on: April 07, 2012, 04:11:58 PM »
As a major player of New World of Darkness I wanted to just open up a thread for myself and others to nit pick the RPPR guys on their latest episode.

There isn't actually much to call you guys out on. nWoD is largely up to the perspective of the individual since it doesn't explain a lot of the details. You guys where off a lot on some of the specific rules; not like it really matters.

Just as an aside, if Jason and some of the other RPPR guys really want to play in a New World of Darkness game and there's nobody in real life to run one I would be happy to run a short Skype campaign.

General Chaos / 1st Level Commoner Deathmatch
« on: April 02, 2012, 03:01:10 PM »
Got the idea from the Anecdote thread. Alot of systems have a "baseline" human. Commonor, peasant, laboror, citizen, whatever the get called they are all cardboard cut outs of human beings.

And I intend to see who the greatest cardboard cut out of them all is.

Everybody think of how your favorite game would depict a "1st Level Commoner" and post it below. Observiously point by systems and classless system will have a harder time but we'll manage.

Once we've gathered a few individuals we'll pit them against one another in life or death combat and we'll see what happens.

I found this while forum crawling:

And the first thing that popped into my head was "Oh my god, Palladium stole Ross's PDF and their going to make it into a book."

General Chaos / Starvation Parcheesi- The Movie
« on: February 03, 2012, 11:06:13 AM »
It's got a trailer and everything.

http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/hunger-games-reveals-trailer-premiere-giveaway-174213303.html#more-4941

I haven't read the books so I have no idea if this is in keeping with them. I can say it's basically nothing like what I invisioned in my mind from how Caleb talked about the series.

General Chaos / GenCon 2012
« on: January 16, 2012, 02:24:10 PM »
I know most people aren't going to need this notice but for any first timers or individual even considering coming to GenCon this year a very important date is coming up.

January 29th is Badge Registration, which isn't a huge deal, badges don't sell out right away, but it is required for the more important part: hotel registration.

Janurary 31st is the opening for hotel registration. For anyone who wants to stay on-site for GenCon and not travel to and from by shuttle or car this day is critical. The hotels closest to the Event Center tend to book up very quickly.

So if you want to stay at a connected hotel, better make sure you can be at your computer, ready to book a room on the morning of the 31st (It's a Tuesday, by the way). You need to have registered for a badge to make use of the GenCon hotel bookng system and get the discounted group rate for the Con.
