Thanks, this is just what I needed. The guides I've seen so far have been somewhat lacking in detail.

Sounds like a fun thing to do at as one shot. Did you actually run it at an event in 2006 or was this something recent and you flashed back?

I've grown quite comfortable with 4E in general. Having just played a 3.5 campaign for the first time in over a year I can safely say I like 4E better.

I really don't. When a game is boring I tend to leave it. I try to give the GM (or other players) a chance to change to something interesting, that doesn't always work. So, if it doesn't look like it will change, I leave the game.

I assumed. I suppose that means you'll be allowing them to use the standard powers but using more "mundane" explaination? Such as Snare being a rope gun, Blast being a regular gun, and Fly being a jetpack.

I look forward to seeing what the twisted minds of your players assemble.

So, this very nearly screams of a wide gaming system, such as GURPS. Or a low power level, limited Powers, Mutants and Masterminds game.

As a fan of Watchmen and the world it takes place in I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Character Builder is pretty cool. I subscribe to D&D Insider so I've had it for awhile. I like the power cards and auto-calculation.

14 is a good once because you cover alot of ground.

I think you need episode 1 in there to show how far you've come and because that has the story of Tom killing the cultist in London.

I'd say 1, 14, 25, 27, the Fear Itself Actual Play.

25 because, as you guys said, how many podcasts talk about "happy gaming"?

What do you want to play? I'll be using pregenerated characters but if people on the forums want to be in on it than I can pregenerate to specifications.

Of course, I'm waiting for PHB2 to make the characters and since PAX isn't for months Arcana Power and Divine Power will be out by then as well so everything is likely to change over time.

So no rush.

My sympathies with the inability to find a group. Something I think most of us have to struggle with over our "currers".

A continuation of this thread from the old forum.

I'll be attending the event for the first time and will have several games ready to run at the event. Might not get to actually run them all, depends on time and the availability of shiny objects to distract me.

So far the list of games to play includes:
  • 4E DnD Epic Dungeon Delve, possibly a "follow up" to Tides of Doom by some guy named Ross
  • Possessed, a New World of Darkness Mortal variant that plays similar to Wraith: The Oblivion (the characters are possessed and each player will play their own character and the demon possessing another character)
  • A Trail of Cthulhu adventure simply titled "Bubbles".

RPGs / Re: House rules in overabundance
« on: March 11, 2009, 12:03:30 PM »
If the rules suck then don't play. I like to apply Occam's Razor to my gaming. If you play the game and like it, keep playing. If you don't, than figure out which parts you don't like and remove them. If those "parts" are the co-DM and his rules, than either leave the play group or bring it up in the session.

I'd say something to the effect of "What's with all those house rules, dude? The game was complex enough."
