Ayn Randian Dragon?
« on: June 27, 2015, 09:45:06 PM »
So... hearing various jokes about Ayn Rand across some of the AP's, as well as vague memories of when I read Atlas Shrugged back in high school (and thought it was just a weird story at the time), got me wondering. What if a dragon from D&D of any alignment read her philosophy? What do you all think would happen?

Depends how old they are....

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

I like the idea of D&D dragons, even the good ones, having a massive sense of superiority over all other creatures. So I can see them appreciating Randian objectivism as a form of "social Darwinist" ideology that justifies their own superiority.
